2 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

This concerns Ford motor company safety recall # 14s09. Ford motor CO. Internal letter from michael a. Berardi. Dated June 10, 2014 to dealers. A "do not drive warning. " this letter applies to only select 2014 f150 models. My Ford f150 fx4; 2011 has an "identical" problem with the same required part number and repair needed. Only instead of being a recall it is classified as a repair at a cost of $1,641. 00. I have documentation from a dealer "uftring Ford automall" stating the identical problem. Dated today November 9, 2015. In Ford's letter I referred too, above. It warns dealers that the epas gear motor position sensor magnet may lead to impaired steering, loss of steering control, which could increase the risk of a crash. Why is my vehicle not covered? note: on the internet there are more f150 owners complaining about this problem. A warning pops up on the dash monitor screen. In bold orange letters. "service advance trac. " this happens when turning the steering wheel to park at a slow speed. It appears randomly when driving and the turn signal cannot work. Plus the steering wheel can vibrate. If the reset button is depressed the warning on the screen disappears. But you have to shut the vehicle off and restart it to get the turn signal to work again and the vibration to end. The effected part # el3z3504be. The same part number and procedure to repair the 2014's. This can happen to 2011 trucks at any mileage and other years. Ford even admits it is a "do not drive situation. " I want Ford to fix my vehicle at their cost. It is a defect that they admit too. I would upload the Ford letter. Also the dealer analysis. I do not know how to upload it. ? it is a pdf file. Please reply thank you.

4 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/22/2013

While driving on the interstate with cruise control set approximately at 70mph, I stepped on the gas to accelerate past a vehicle. The truck did not respond but decelerated and the steering wheel began to shake. The check engine light flashed. I continued to drive and with only slight pressure to the gas to maintain speed. After approximately 5-10 seconds the vehicle regained power. The incident happened a second time, same conditions same results. The Ford dealer says its a known problem with parts back ordered. This seems unacceptable if its a know problem. Someone can get in a serious accident at highway speeds if they pulled out in fast moving traffic expecting acceleration to be there.

6 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

Steering wheel shakes real bad on stopping the harder the stop the worse it shakes this truck has 16000 miles on it now and the problem seems to have started after the 1st service and tire rotation (about 8500 miles) although it did not start immediately after but rather seemed to get worse over time from that point I believe that it is warped brake rotors possibly from cheap or defective oem parts the truck has never been off road or abused just daily drive to from work 19 miles each way.

Failure Date: 08/06/2007

I have owned the truck for approx. 7 weeks. During the test drive I noticed a vibration starting around 55 mph. The truck had 41000 miles on it. The dealer agreed to balance the tires. After balancing the problem still occurred. It gets severe around 70-74 mph with steering wheel vibrations. I will be taking the truck into the shop for the 45000 mile service within two weeks and will be talking to the service dept.

9 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/04/2006

I have just left my dealer with some disappointing news. The vibration I am encountering with my 04 f150 is due to the wheel hubs being engineered out of acceptable tolerance. That is to say the issue has been fixed for the 05 and 06 models. It has been explained to me that the wheels and hubs must be "indexed" for the bottom basemant price of $396. 00. This process will have to be done everytime you move or replace a tire. Ford has indicated to me that this is the only fix for the steering wheel vibration and that the consumers are financially responsible for this process although it is their engineering foul up. It was also indicated that they would do the indexing for a reduced amount as long as I purchase my tires and my rotations from them! luckily my dealer has enough good sense to do this process (one that should by the way never have to be done) for free. Of the 26 vehichles I ahve owned, I have never and I mean never had to or heard of indexing the wheels and hubs in order to get my car to quit shaking!!! you can reference this information from the Ford motor company technical service bulletin #06-12-02.

10 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2006 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/07/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. The contact stated that at 395 miles, the passenger side front bumper was bent and the bed was aligned improperly. The Ford dealer repaired the vehicle for free. The inside of the front tires had severe edge wear because of an issue with the alignment once again at 4,076 miles. The dealer performed a 4-wheel rotation and aligned the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle back at 11,000 miles for the same failure. He also stated that the steering wheel vibrated when driving 70 mph. The dealer changed the driver side front tire, front shock absorber, and performed another wheel alignment. The contact took the vehicle back and the dealer called Ford motor company. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to mission valley Ford for a wheel alignment. They performed a wheel alignment and informed him to come back for a follow-up visit after 1,000 miles. The contact obeyed and the vehicle was found to be out of alignment once again. Mission valley Ford called Ford motor company and the contact was then advised to take the vehicle to sunnyville Ford. Ford authorized four new tires and an alignment at 18,456 miles. He was advised once again to take the vehicle back after 1,000 miles for a follow-up visit. The front tires were found to have inside edge wear and the dealer rotated them and performed another alignment. The contact took the vehicle back at 19,640 miles and they rotated the tires once more. The contact took the vehicle back after 1,000 miles. After that, he was informed that nothing else could be done. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 21,056 and failure mileage was 4,076.

11 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2006 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/10/2006

Steering wheel shimmies at 50-70mph. Have had tires rotated, tires replaced, front end aligned, brake rotors replaced still the shimmy is there and have been told that the big tires 18"rims 235/75 may partially been the problem. What? why would Ford use a tire that is too big? and cause the steering wheel to shake and shimmy. Have had an independent shop look at truck and can find nothing wrong, but I have never had a vehicle have such a noticeable shimmy in the steering wheel. Very unsettling feeling.

12 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/26/2005

Terrific vibrations/shimmies at speeds from 55-70 mph. Steering wheel shakes and vibrations felt through out the vehicle. Have had vehicle in to Ford for warranty repair 6 times. The vehicle is at the dealer right now and has been there 3 days. (10/17-10/18-10/19 and who know how much longer. ) when it vibrates and shakes we have to slow down and pull off the freeway. This has been ongoing since the vehicle had only 8,000 miles on it and it only has 20,500 on it now. The incidence of vibrating/shaking is getting more and more frequent. --this vehicle is not safe in this condition.

13 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/02/2004

14 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

15 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/05/2004

Purchase a brand new 2004 Ford f150 XLT supercrew 4x4. Vehicle had steering wheel vibration. I was assured by the sales and service staff that it was a wheel balance issue. If they could not fix it they would give me a new truck. The truck has been back to the shop 6 times for this vibration problem and numerous parts have been replaced. The truck has spent several weeks at the dealership for this problem. After meeting with the Ford field service engineer he told me that this was a "characteristic of these trucks" and they cannot fix it because nothing is wrong with it. All this after they replaced the drive shaft, all the wheels, tires, added a steering damper, replaced front hub, hunter road forced the truck at least 3 times and the vibration is still there at highway speeds. Very annoying, uncomfortable to drive and completely unacceptable for a brand new vehicle. The dealership misrepresented themselves by telling me it was a wheel balance issue. Now, Ford is in breach of contract for not fixing the problem under the factory warranty. I gave them a fair chance to do the right thing and stand by their word and replace the vehicle with one that does not have the vibration. They did not. Now I want them to buy the vehicle back and pay all of the associated costs involved with dealing with this issue and ownership.
