40 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2000 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/07/2006

1) during normal dry weather driving conditions, right rear tire experienced a catastrophic failure. The entire tread belt separated from the sidewall. Speed was approximately 60 mph. 2) there were no personal injuries or property damages as a result. 3) contacted corporate offices of cooper tire. I was told the tire was damaged before it experienced the failure. I have had the tires for approximately three years and while there was a minimum of tread life remaining, there was tread life remaining (approximately 6 mon. ). When I took the tire to the cooper tire dealer, I was told the failure was not normal. I have pictures of the failed tire. I had to pay for the replacement tire. The cooper tire corporate representative presented herself and her company as not at fault in this case. I am not concerned about having to pay for the replacement tire, I simply wanted this on record in case others experience similar incidents.

43 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2001 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/01/2005

I have a 01' svt lightning. I along with probably hundreds others on nloc. Net all report problems with the stock goodyear f1's @ correct tire pressure. They all split the sidewall. I've had about 7 f1's split on my truck in with in the past year I've owned it. All of my splits were on the front. I can't speak for all the rest of the lightning owners on their tire locations. I also had a problem with those tires pulling my truck from side to side in the ruts in the road. I thought maybe it was normal for such wide tires. I run nitto tires on it now with no issues (splitting or pulling) what so ever. I no longer use any type of goodyear tires on any of my cars and truck. Kramer goodyear told me the last time that goodyear is aware of the problem and they'll prorate me a price on a new f150. After the 7th time I asked why would I want to keep buying another overpriced f150 over and over again that I know will split sooner or later and I'd be right back in here getting a prorated tire again? the 295/45/18 goodyear f1 is a defective tire and someone if they haven't already are going to be killed running these tires. Lightning are high performance trucks and most people that own them, race them. Ford should really cancel their relationship with goodyear(nascar should too). Goodyear is all about the name and their products are junk. It's amazing firestone gets in trouble but not goodyear.

53 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/01/2004

The following letter was sent to Ford motor company: may 1, 2004 Ford motor company customer relations center p. O. Box 6248 dearborn, mi 48126 good afternoon. The purpose of this letter is to alert you of a possible problem with hankook tires. I purchased and took delivery of a 2004 F-150 VIN#1ftrx14w64nb30350 on February 20, 2004. This vehicle came equipped with hankook tires. Yesterday, April, 31st 2004 while driving the right rear tire split from the rim to the tread after 5,000 miles of highway driving. I am not an expert but I see no sidewall damage that could have caused this failure. I suspect this is simply a badly defective tire. I have started the process of getting a new tire under the limited warranty offered by hankook. I have contacted hankooks corporate headquarters in rancho cucamonga, California. I have alerted my local Ford dealer, heritage Ford in loveland, colorado but hanook has given me a Ford hotline number which I was advised to pass on to the dealer as a first step. I will do that first thing on Monday may3rd. If Ford would like to inspect the tire please let me know promptly. I suspect I will be sent to a local hankook tire dealer for adjustment and they most likely will keep the damaged tire. Regards, no injury or vehicle damage occured. The manufacturer has refused to replace the tire saying that failure involved a road hazard. I don't believe that to be the case. I have the tire and would be happy to turn it over to you for examination. Roger hughes.
