The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
Automatic transmission started to slip out of gear while in drive. Would drive in 2nd gear only. While on a dealer test drive it lost reverse and was so bound up it couldn't be pushed in neutral. Needs new tranny $3,100. 00. Told that the sprag and torque converter are the weak links.
The contact owns a 2001 Ford F-250 super duty. The contact stated the transmission was leaking while driving 25 mph. The transmission previously leaked on two occasions and the contact had taken the vehicle the dealer each time the failure occurred. The dealer replaced the transmission pump, torque converter, and o- rings. After the vehicle was repaired the transmission continued to leak. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the leak and they stated that the transmission warranty expired and there was nothing they could do to assist him. The failure mileage was 134,000.
Automatic transmission, torque-converter. I have a 2001 Ford F-250 super dudy pick-up truck, since 9 months after purchased I have had several problems regarding my transmission & drive shaft (already replaced it while under warrenty), with the transmission we had a problem down shifting, evey time we took it in they couldn't find the problem ( Ford dealer, they said theres nothing they can do), it has 90% of highway miles on it & 10% town miles. It is now 2004 it has 61000 miles & the torque-converter is sliping & shuttering, not alowing the fluid to pass through correctly & the transmission now has to be rebuilt, because Ford dealer said the couldn't find nothing wrong, so we took it for a second opinion & they found something, but while under warrenty the dealership could not !!!!!!! go figure, I guess thats how they make there money .
