Ignition problems of the 2001 Ford F-250

Three problems related to ignition have been reported for the 2001 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2007

While driving on a busy road the truck cut off. Hard to drive a diesel when not running. Managed to get off road. Replaced failed cps. F7tz-12k073-a.

2 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2006

My 2001 Ford F-250 was destroyed on 8/11/06 and approximately 75 acres of range land was burned when the truck caught on fire. Contents valued at $1800 were also destroyed. No one was injured. The fire started in the engine compartment when the engine was off and the key was not in the ignition.

3 Ignition problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2006

Vehicle stalled multiple (20) times 30 miles from home. Restarted sucessfully each time. Drove 1/4 mile to 5 miles in between each time it stalled. Finally got home. Purchase and replace the synchronizer (cam position sensor) #f7tz-12k073-a. No failures since. Old part is available.
