2002 Ford F-250. Unit #1 was westbound in far right lane of the ohio turnpike. The right side trailer wheel, single axle, came off causing trailer to fish-tail damaging tailgate of power unit. Unit #1 drove to berm, then access road disabled. According to the police report, the trailer didn't have any license plates, the VIN label was worn and corroded. There was damage to the vehicle and the trailer. (ohio traffic crash report # 10-0428-90).

My 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck has a violent front end shake when it hits even a normal small bump in the road traveling at safe highway speed. The truck now has only 20,000 miles on it, but it has done this since it was brand new. It is dealer maintained and the tires have been rotated and filled to correct pressure aprox. Every 5,000 miles. Ford says it is due to improper tire pressure. However, they are the ones who filled the tires to the correct pressure. I have complained about this very dangerous situation before and have been given lame excuses by both the NHTSA and Ford. Please let me say this again. This is not a shake in the front end. This is a very violent reaction when the truck hits a bump. The truck must almost be brought to a stop in order to stop the truck from shaking. When this happens on a highway it becomes very dangerous because the cars following must jam on their brakes in order to stop from rear ending the truck. The front end shakes so violently that it is hard to hold on to the steering wheel. Anyone driving alongside or behind the truck is in danger when this occurs. I know there has been other complaints of the same thing happening with the F-250. This is something that should not be ignored or taken lightly. Someone will eventually die or be seriously injured due to this defect. Please do something about this before it is to late. This is as dangerous as the sticking accelerator problem. I am a 58 year old man with a very safe driving record.

I have a 2006 Ford f250 4x4 crewcab with a shortbed that had problems with violent front end oscillation. See odi resume investigation ea 08-007. After the last incident on 8/2/2006, I had the vehicle towed to my local Ford dealer on 8/5/2006. This was now the second time vehicle was brought into a Ford dealership for this problem. The first dealership required that I reproduce this problem for the tech working on the vehicle. I was told everything was fine with the vehicle. This second dealership had my truck until 8/11/2006 and said the problem had been corrected. I was told some metal bushings were replaced in the front end and that chamber or caster was way off. I was also told to make sure and rotate tires at suggested intervals and to keep tires properly inflated. I noticed when I left that the truck had a choppy bounce to the ride and was told that it was from the tire wear. The odometer reading at that time was 22065. After driving the truck for about 3000 miles, I took the truck back to the dealership where I purchased the truck. They road tested the truck, then rebalanced all 4 tires and reindexed the rear tires. These are the tires that were originally on the front and rotated at the second dealership. The vehicle continues to have a choppy bounce ii the ride, which now I was told was normal or acceptable. If the truck would have rode that way when I purchased it, I would have never purchased it. I went from having a smooth riding truck that on occasion had a severe oscillation in the front end at highway speeds 65 and higher, to one that bounces all the time. The bounce in the ride was noticeable to a friend who owns a 2005 f250, that has had none of these problems, although others have with that year also. Turning to Ford in this matter has proved pointless in their willingness to admit a problem with this vehicle or their own engineering flaws. I am currently trying to have an engineer from Ford look at this vehicle.

I have a Ford super duty truck that exhibits what has been named the death wobble as well as the 40-50 mph rear end bounce or shake. New tires, shocks, brakes, etc have not corrected this issue. I've read online where many others experience this same issue and many have been told by Ford that they have to live with this.
When towing a 5th wheel trailer 27 feet and 7,900 lbs on consumer's Ford f250 super duty, there was a problem with that much weight on the back the truck. It seemed to pull to the left and sometimes pulls to the right, then will quit and pull to the other side. This alternated in nature. Also, consumer noted this occurred without 5th wheel trailer or without any tow at all. It seemed as though there were 4 low tires. Consumer first thought the problem were the tires, and had all 4 tires replaced. But is a problem recurred. Was not taken to dealer for this problem. Called dealer, and he recommended a change rear end lube. Consumer complied, and there still was a problem. . Infect, the old removed lube was very clean and new,. Consumer felt this was not even being used. No repairs were made at this time.
When driving uphill in the rain rear of the vehicle fishtailed when braking.
Rear end bounces violently when you hit a bump on expressway. Literally have to slow down to 35 or 40 mph for it to stop.

Rear axle seal failed and was leaking lubricant into the drivers side wheel rim and braking components. If gone unnoticed this could potentially cause failure of the left side braking system in the rear of the vehicle.

Stopped at a traffic light and when light turned green, pressed gas pedal but truck would not move. Waited a few minutes and pressed pedal and truck went. Driving down highway, truck started coasting - engine was running but pressing the gas pedal gave no power. Finally got the truck to Ford service. Left the truck running and in park - the truck jumped into reverse. The truck lost power again while the Ford tech was test driving. They replaced the electronic gas pedal and the transmission. They took the truck on a test drive and noticed the rear end was grinding. They determined the carrier bearings had come apart. They have ordered a new rear end. The windshield washer fluid would not spray - they repaired some wiring to correct that problem. Ea04006 has ifs.
