I currently have about 33,000 miles on my stock 2017 f250 lariat truck with factory 20" wheels and factory michelin tires. About 10,000 miles ago, the front end exhibited the "death wobble" at highway speeds when crossing over a bump/expansion joint in the road. The dealer replaced the torsion bar, steering stabilizer, and some other parts. Today, with a trailer in tow, while driving straight on the freeway, it happened again. Later in the day, I dropped the trailer and the truck's front end did it again at 55mph while in an overpass turn immediately after crossing an expansion joint. Everything is stock except for the new parts the dealer replaced last year. I have 60 psi in the front and 65 psi in the rear. I have a video of an occurrence but this system will not allow me to attach an mp4 file.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-250 sd. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle started to wobble violently. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact mentioned that the only way to stop the wobble was to reduce the speed. The contact also stated that the failure occurred one other time. The vehicle was taken to kenly Ford inc (500 s garner Ave, kenly, nc 27542) where the steering arm and torsion bar were replaced, and an alignment was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Broken front torsion bar. Started motor, shifted from park to reverse, and without moving from the spot, heard a loud crack and the torsion bar had snapped. My garage was told by their parts supplier that, until this past month, they never had a request for this part before. This is now the second request in the past month. Kept the broken bar after replacement.

While driving torsion bar broke which almost cause a crash. Currently at dealer. The manufacturer fixed the torsion bar.
Torsion bar keeps braking first on driver's side at 35000 which could cause front end to drop, then on passenger's side. Torsion bar broke twice in the same year. Front end dropping at high speed could cause the vehicle to rollover.
On three different occasions within the past month while driving at highway speeds on smooth road surfaces , my vehicle began violently shaking making it almost uncontrollable . Initially I assumed I had a blowout and slowed and pulled off to the shoulder . Once I slowed to less than 20 mph the shaking ceased and my truck felt normal . I resumed my drive without issues. The last time this happened I was going 70 mph on a crowded urban tollway and was unable to slow down immediately due to heavy traffic . The truck is not drivable at guest speeds and I was fortunate to be able to pull off the roadway and avoid an accident. I have a 2019 Ford F-250 just over one fear old that has never been driven off road or or modified . I called my tire dealer and he said this was common. People are going to get killed if this isn't investigated! it feels that the front suspension /steering get in to some sort of resonance that builds rapidly and will not stop until speed goes below about 20 mph. Each time this occurred at guest speed of 70-80 mph. I have an appoint to have a torsion bar placed mext weekend as my tire man says this is common and will fix it. I should not have to pay as my truck is under warranty.

Torsion bar failure, caused sudden loss of vehicle control.
Torsion bar snapped with no warning. This is obviously a manufacturer defect, yet was not covered under extended warranty. I had to pay for towing and rental car while my truck was disabled. I think Ford should cover this repair as the part was defective.
While driving front torsion bar broke. The dealer has been notified.
The torsion bar sheared off, causing vehicle to lose control and sway suddenly.
Breakage occurred either while stationary or doing slow speed - not sure when. Vehicle was leaning to right when I returned to it 20 minutes after driving it. Feel free to call for more information. I see on the web that these torsion bars have been breaking quite frequently on f150s too!.
Torsion bar, which controls the stability of the vehicle, sheared off, causing a loss of vehicle control.
Both front torsion bars broke while vehicle was setting in the garage. It appears to be related to cold weather stress or the torsions bars were heat treated to hard. Did not flex between the cold weather (0 -10 deg) and the warm garage (45 deg.
Torsion bars failed. Yh.
When the tensioner was lost, I lost powersteering, brakes etc. I was negotiating a turn with a trailer attached and lost substantial control of the vehicle. The dealer was aware of the problem but did not know of a recall etc. This problem could be a major safety concern.
