The contact owns a 2002 Ford F-350. While parked in the driveway, the vehicle rolled backwards approximately 300 feet and crashed into a fence. The contact stated that there was no warning indicator prior to the failure. The contact, an independent mechanic, inspected the vehicle and diagnosed that the bracket that secured the gear shift cable was loose which allowed the lever to go into different gears. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Failure of the clutch master cylinder resulted in a stalled vehicle in the number 1 lane of I-80w out of sacramento, CA. Very heavy labor day traffic prevented an accident. (stop and go traffic). As a result of the failure, the truck wouldn't shift into gear after the gear shift lever was placed in neutral.
