3 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/17/2019

I was driving out of state (NY) when an alert stated "low fuel pressure) and the vehicle slowed to 5-10 mph while traveling on the interstate. Upon exiting, the vehicle stopped running leaving me and my family stranded. I had it towed to a local shop which informed me the bosch high pressure fuel pump was not delivering the required pressure (/,000 psi). Upon contacting the Ford dealership where the vehicle was purchased, I was informed the vehicle exceeded warranty miles (100,000/129,239) and the cost of the pump was $1,245 with exchange prior to labor charges. In all, Ford dealer wants nearly $5,000 to repair the pump which was poorly designed.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/12/2019

I own a 2015 Ford F-350sd with approximately 42,000 miles that I bought from the Ford dealer in September of 2018. So, I haven't even owned the truck a year yet. On July 12, 2019 I was driving down i15 headed to a camping trip. All of a sudden, my check engine light came on and then a message saying reduced engine power and my truck went from 70mph to 5mph and just barely got me off the interstate. I had the truck towed to the Ford dealer where I purchased it. They diagnosed it and said there's metal throughout the fuel system, the hpfp is going bad and wearing out, there is also rust and water in the fuel rail. In order to fix the problem, the bill will be a little over $11,000. In December right after I bought the truck, I took it into the Ford dealer and had them fully service the truck, check the oil, change both fuel filters, etc. I have all receipts to show Ford that I have maintained the truck. I have fully maintained the truck and have drained the water separator monthly since I purchased the truck. I have done everything on my part to make sure the truck is well cared for and maintained. I have now been fighting with Ford corporate for 5 weeks now and they are saying this issue isn't covered by warranty. It's a shame that you buy a truck from the Ford dealer with a 100,000 mile warranty and now Ford is claiming that this issue isn't covered by warranty. This is a known faulty fuel pump that wears out prematurely and is costing consumers tens of thousands of dollars to repair and Ford will not stand behind their warranty! this is a shame and ridiculous on Fords end!.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/13/2019

I own a 2014 f350 diesel truck, my buddy owns a 2015 f350 diesel truck, a month or so ago he was driving down the road and his truck stalled/shut down on him driving down the road causing his steering wheel to lock up, he was barley able to get it onto the shoulder and it left him stranded since his truck wouldn't start back up. He brought it to a shop and come to find out it was his high pressure fuel pump. Fast forward a little further, he did some research and found out that Ford put faulty fuel pumps on all their diesel trucks, the pumps can't handle us diesel, it's not lubricated enough for the pumps, so the pump destroys itself and sends metal shards through the whole entire fuel system. So he was stuck paying a $6,xxx bill to get it fixed. Fast forward I found out they make a disaster prevention kit so when the pump fails the metal doesn't get through the whole system you only have to replace the pump which is $1,xxx. So I bought the kit and had it installed on my truck but it was too late my system got wiped out. So now I'm out $6,xxx to get it fixed which I can't afford. Ford wont do anything about it because there's no recall. I've done more research and found out the new diesel trucks from Ford still have the same fuel pump. This should be recalled, it's only a matter of time till other people start having failures. I would be pissed if I spent $70,xxx on a truck only to have to spend more to fix the fuel system. Nobody is aware of this issues yet but something must be done about it.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2016 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 10/08/2018

While driving on I-75 in the passing lane at between 70-75 mph, approaching macon,GA. Our vehicle slowed way down. We were able to make it to exit 167 before vehicle quit running. Vehicle quit on the exit ramp, less than a mile from where it 1st began slowing down. Vehicle was towed to riverside Ford in macon. Upon examination by Ford mechanic, while there was no water in the fuel, there was a slight amount of rust around rim and metal in the fuel filter. We had vehicle towed home. On Monday we had the vehicle towed to robbie roberson Ford in waycross, GA. Upon examination of the fuel system by one of their mechanics the same determination was made. , slight rust around rim of fuel filter and metal in the filter. At no time did the water sensor light come on. The fuel pump had exploded. Ford assumed no liability although the vehicle is still under warranty. The vehicle fuel system should not be so sensitive that the fuel pump explodes just because of a little rust probably caused by condensation. Had we not been able to exit I-75 and the vehicle quit in traffic this could have resulted in a major accident with multiple injuries/deaths. Ford is aware they have an issue because they have a kit to fix it but refuse to acknowledge problem.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2016 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Ford F-350sd. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled with no warning while on a major roadway. The contact barely but was able to coast over to the side of the road, the vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to basil Ford, 1540 walden Ave, buffalo, NY 14225, (716) 893-1000 who indicated that the wrong fuel was put in the vehicle and not diesel and had not provided a specific diagnosis for a remedy to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to washington Ford, 507 washington rd, washington, PA 15301, (724) 223-5100 who indicated that there was no octane in the fuel, there may have been water or rust in the fuel system and then stated that with fuel samples they found metal shavings in the fuel system. The second dealer indicated that the high pressure fuel pump may need to be replaced. The vehicle had been serviced by the second dealer for months and neither dealer had been able to provide a directly permanent remedy to repair the vehicle. The contact waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine if the part and remedy was available to provide to the dealer to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 45,222. Dyd.

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2016 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/24/2017

Vehicle has 30k miles on it. Was driving down the road, vehicle shut up, and would not start back up. Took to dealer, stated it was a fuel pump problem, that the fuel pump in the truck blew up and sent metal shreds through the fuel rail system and into the engine. Ford denied the warranty stating the fuel was contaminated with to much water. Upon having my fuel tested, it was determined it was not contaminated and they paid 9000 of repair cost, and I paid 1000. I have two vehicles (the other which I will also make a complaint as well) and both vehicles have unsafetly shut off and lost power. After doing research, the fuel pump in the trucks in not rated for the lubricity the diesel fuel in America offers. I have spoken to several mechanics who said the pump will blow up if you do not use a fuel additive. Fuel specifically states to use united states ultra low diesel fuel in their system, and does not require their consumers to use fuel additives. The pump is not rated, and Ford is putting these pumps in their trucks knowing their not rated for ulsd in the untied stated.

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/10/2017

Truck was taken to Ford dealer and diagnosed with low pressure fuel pump and high pressure fuel pump out. Prior to this white smoke rolled out of exhaust while driving on highway and engine shut off. Truck waa towed to dealer with above findings. Ford diesel mechanic stated several issues with high and low pressure fuel pumps on these models. Please look into this. Estimated cost is 13,000 dollars to fix.

10 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2016 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 11/25/2016

Vehicle has 10k miles on it. Was driving down the road, vehicle shut up, and would not start back up. Took to dealer, stated it was a fuel pump problem, that the fuel pump in the truck blew up and sent metal shreds through the fuel rail system and into the engine. 11 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/16/2016

I recently purchased a 2008 Ford f350 diesel crew cab pickup from hayford Ford in isanti mn. I have driven the vehicle a total of 1500 miles since I purchased it. The vehicle has been in the shop more than 20 days since I purchased it. They now say I will have a bill of $8000 dollars to repair the contaminated diesel fuel system. I understand that there has been a fuel tank delamination issue on these vehicles that causes this problem. That can lead to a stalling of the engine if not detected prior to total failure. Ford will not even honor the warranty I purchased from them. I noticed the increase in engine oil volume prior to any failure which led Ford to diagnose a fuel pump failure prior to engine failure. I understand there have been failures while the vehicles are in motion, which would cause the possibility of serious accidents.

12 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2009 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/08/2016

I was driving down the highway and began to exit. The vehicle just stopped! I was able to coast to access road. After I was towed to a repair shop and received diagnosis, I began to price shop. By doing this I was informed that there were other Ford trucks that had the same repairs recently. I also encountered another owner that had the same diagnosis/repairs completed. The cost was close to 10grand. The diagnosis was the high pressure fuel pump. Due to the sudden failure of operation of the vehicle while driving high speeds I feel this warrented an investigation. I find myself fortunate that there were no accidents, injuries or loss of life.

13 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/29/2016

01/2016: vehicle was being driven home from work when there was a loss of engine power. Vehicle was able to roll to a stop in the parking lot of a church. Later it was determined this resulted from failure of #7 cylinder injector unit, believed to have failed due to delamination inside of fuel tank. About 02/23/2014, 207980 miles: fuel tank had been removed and internal screens cleared due to the engine stalling while driving prior to injector failure. Internal pick-up tube screens were blocked with delamination material from the inside of the tank. Two new fuel pumps had been purchased and installed prior to cleaning the internal pick-up screens. I have receipts for work and parts relating to the fuel system problem.

14 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-350. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled without warning. The failure recurred multiple times. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that water in the fuel filter caused the fuel pump to fail. As a result, metal shavings were sent throughout the fuel system and caused the vehicle to stall. The fuel pump, filter, and injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that his phone call to them would also be filed with NHTSA and ftc. The manufacturer also denied the contact's warranty and instructed him to bill his insurance company for the repairs. The dealer was made aware of the manufacturer's statement and stated that Ford should be covering the repair. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

15 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 09/15/2015

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-350. While driving at an unknown speed, the check engine warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the egr cooler and fuel pump assembly needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer nine times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

16 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2005 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

I have a 2005 Ford f350 diesel powerstroke that has the fuel tank lining falling off and its gotten to my fuel lines and fuel pump causing the truck to come to a complete stop while I was driving down the freeway hauling a 12ft trailer with a 10000 lbs tractor on it. I had to get it towed to a shop where they replaced the fuel pump and filters. One month later it did the same thing while on the highway again it just died the mechanic says my fuel tank is the problem the lining inside the fuel tank is chipping away and it has gotten to the fuel system again this is a frequent problem with Ford diesel tanks and they wont take responsibility. This second time around I am having to replace fuel injectors and the filters again.

17 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/12/2014

This diesel truck was being driven at 20 mph when without any warning, the engine shut off resulting in loss of all power steering and brakes. Would not restart. Towed to dealer service. Dealer diagnosed lack of fuel pressure and they observed metal shavings in the lower filter indicating the hpfp was disintegrating. Dealer submitted pictures of the flow control valve to Ford warranty prior approval per service manual directions. Dealer observation was that they observed no significant water or debris contamination in the fuel filter. Prior approval response was that the pictures submitted were representative of fuel contamination and denied the warranty coverage for the repair. No water in fuel indication was ever seen by owner. Filters maintained per maintenance schedule. Bill for repair is estimated at approx $11,000. Two weeks prior, this vehicle was towing a 14k lb 5th wheel down the santiam pass in oregon. Steep inclines, sharp drop offs, and snow on the road. A sudden loss of power without warning would very likely have resulted in loss of control of the vehicle, severe bodily injury, or death. It appears the bosch cp4 fuel pump was not designed to operate with the 560 scar fuel lubricity of us fuels and that Ford is blaming pump failures on water contamination by observation of a corrosion appearance on another component. Warranty coverage was denied without any observation of the fuel pump itself. Note that no indication that anything was wrong with the truck was observed prior to the failure. The truck is equipped with a factory 5th wheel hitch and is intended to haul up to 21. 5k lb trailers. Sudden loss of power steering and brakes without warning under this intended use is extremely dangerous.

18 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/04/2014

Was driving at approximately 40mp when the engine just stopped and lost power. This happened on 2 more occasions. Once while pulling out onto a busy street, and was almost hit by oncoming traffic. Cannot risk injury, so took it right to a reputable local diesel mechanic. Diesel mechanic states that entire fuel system must be replaced. Faulty hi pressure fuel pump disintegrated and sent metal thru fuel system. This will cost $8000 to fix. Was told this was the first year "bug" for a new design. Ford will not replace parts or warranty this. Common on this model, but definitely a safety hazard, as the truck may or may not stall when giving gas. It is unpredictable.

19 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/08/2013

This issue was on a 2000 Ford f350 ambulance on route to emergency call when engine shut down and lost all power like it was out of fuel 7. 3 liter diesel and tank was full. Had unit towed to tabs garage in king nc and $1700. 00 later after new fuel tank fuel pump 3 injectors due to liner inside of tank came off and clogged the fuel system and engine Ford motor company was no help and said since the vehicle was out of warranty they would not do anything to resolve the cost issues.

20 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/21/2013

The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-350 sd. The contact stated while driving 65 mph a warning appeared on the instrument panel which displayed pull the vehicle over. The contact shut the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle in limp mode. After the diagnostic test was performed the dealer stated the fuel pump caused the entire fuel system to malfunction due to bad fuel flowing through the vehicle. The dealer stated the fuel pump and fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The contact did not have the fuel pump and injectors replaced. The failure mileage was 11,000.

21 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2011 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/23/2013

According to Ford the truck's fuel pump went out. They said it was back ordered. 1100 trucks affected. I don't believe Ford is supplying the whole story on the issue and their is a lot more to it. Ford is hiding something and you should look into it. I fortunately was in a safe place when the pump went out but others may not be.

22 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 09/28/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-350 sd. The contact was traveling 55 mph when the vehicle decelerated independently, despite the accelerator pedal being depressed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who confirmed that the fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel injector unit needed replacing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 23,000.

23 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

The high pressure fuel pump failed, causing the truck to lose power while merging onto the interstate. Our vehicle did not die completely, as I've heard most do. If we had been hauling our RV, it could have been catastophic in that situation. Ford has had these pumps recalled on other vehicles (a van?), but because the repair is costly, I believe that Ford may not want to recall these vehicles. The worst part of it is that anyone that owns an f350 buys it to haul something. In our case, a 13000 pound RV. If we lost power steering and brakes in the mountains of colorado and wyoming, it would not be good. Every mechanic we talked to about this seems to feel this is a common problem on the f350 6. 4l powerstroke.

24 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2007 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/29/2008

The truck starts running rough, has a lack of power and blows black smoke. In the last year, it has occurred on approximately a monthly basis. In the last 7 months, the same dealership has replaced 12 fuel injectors, 1 egr cooler, 2 egr valves and 1 fuel pump. The dealership is now telling us that a cylinder, valve and piston have failed and the truck which is now out of warranty needs a new engine at the cost of $12,748. 27. The truck has been at the same dealership almost every month this year including twice in April and now twice in October since March 29, 2008 for the same complaint and they expect us to pay for the engine.

25 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2006 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/17/2007

2006 Ford f350 the contact continuously experience severe loss of power. Contact has two exact vehicles. Contact has filed a compliant on file. The consumer stated the manufacturer refused to acknowledge there was a problem with the injectors and fuel pump. Updated 02/27/07.

26 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2004 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 09/10/2005

I was driving my Ford f350 down a 2 lane road with a tractor trailer following close behind me at 60 mph when my truck stalled. To avoid being crushed by the semi I veered off the road to the right and put my truck into the ditch and the semi had to swerve to make it all the around me. The truck would not restart and had a quater tank of fuel in it. I had to leave the truck there till the next day. The next morning I called the local dealer velde Ford they also said they couldn't tow it. I called a wrecker service and they hauled it to velde Ford. Velde Ford wouldn't have a diesel mechanic till Monday. Velde Ford also said they couldn't provide a rental car. They did find a third recall on my truck for the exhaust sensor. On Monday, velde called me to tell me the fuel pump had gone out and they ordered a new one which would be there on Tuesday. It was covered under warranty but they still couldn't reimburse me for the tow or rental car because the truck had 92,000 miles on it. Even though the truck has 100,000 mile warranty because I didn't buy an extended warranty they wouldn't reimburse. I called Ford customer service to voice my dissatisfaction with everything happening and they told me they couldn't do anything either and I had to continue to talk to the dealer. I explained to them that the fuel pump failing had the same safety concerns as the 05s34 recall had that the vehicle stalled while in motion which could have killed me and mypassengers but they didn't seem to concern with it because your organization wasn't involved. Tuesday the fuel pump arrives but it seems that this is a new redesigned fuel pump because the old style had problems and they didn't order the required wire harness to go with it. Thursday arrives and the new wire harness finally gets there. I have seen many people on RV website forums and Ford truck forums with the same fuel pump problem on 6. 0 liter diesel engine trucks. I hope you find this compelling enough to investigate.

27 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/13/2003

The left rear wheel separated from the vehicle, which caused the vehicle jerk foward. The consumer requested an 03 vehicle or reimbursement for the incidental expenses. After the purchase of the vehicle, the manual, lockable hub(s) began to fail. The dealer convinced the consumer(s) to purchase 8 ply tires, but this didn't reduce the noise or hub problems, the consumer also experienced acceleration problem's. The dealer couldn't find the problem. The engine idled rough and the engine light had come on. A bad cam sensor was found, and a sound had come from the fuel pump. An adapter to the metal plate was built in, extending from the underdash, to the firewall, to provide a better ground system. Scc.

28 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 1999 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 12/13/2002

Consumer states he has put 6 fuel pump on his truck since 1999. He also states that the first pump lasted approx 40,000 mile, the 2nd on e lasted up to 60,000 miles, and the rest of them he cannot remember. He states that the last pump was put on Nov 19 or 20th and lasted only 10 days. He stated too, that when the pumps goes out his truck stops and if he is on the mountain or on a hill, he cannot break or stop the truck because of the weight that he carries. He carries steel and it is heavy. He states that this is scarry, and nobody seem to be able to help him.
