Takata inflators; my vehicle started all types of problems intermittent ones that cost me several thousand dollars never fixing the problem this is were it all began,,. My vehicle died going up fairly steep hill to grave yard, it immediately rolled back shoving a family members vehicle down hill a ways until they turned away from the cliff edge leaving me all alone. Until going through a run off ditch stopping over it into 2 trees. I had no steering no brakes and thank god the trees were there to stop my truck if not their was a 100 foot cliff next. . I know nothing about recalls or such I just tried to fix my truck problem by problem as symptoms came on I have all types of recent receipts that all came from silverish dark maybe even gray matter stuff in the tank. When I get my bank statement I will itemize all and submit them when final cost is over.

Fuel tank delamination leading to stalling and eventual replacement of the tank at my cost.
Def tank filled at 7300 miles. At 9600 miles a "exhaust fluid low" 50 miles til engine idle. Picked up exhaust fluid and refilled-only 2 gals added to overflowing. Did not reset, went to stanley Ford kenai, ak. Countdown went on, then"engine idle at next restart" dealer says to bad nox sensors, replaced and codes cleared. 15 miles later, exhaust system failure" engine will idle soon" fortunately I made it home in the dark and 40 miles in the rain. Now it has gone into the "engine idle" mode and "check your manual" dealer called, tow truck called, soon to be going back to dealer.

Exhaust fluid message on dash that speed will be limited to in 50 miles. Went and bought a new jug of blue def. It took 2 gallons to fill to running over. Then before I got to the kenai, ak dealer, it says engine will idle upon restart. The kenai, ak dealer said up and down stream nox sensors had failed and reset the codes. 15 miles later, I get and "exhaust system failure" engine will idle soon. Made it home(40 miles at 10pm and raining) then it says engine idled, check operator manual. Basically it thinks my def tank is empty, but it has only 75 miles on a completely full tank.
Purchased this vehicle less than a year ago and was originally very pleased. Suddenly we are now experiencing the death wobble as other have described. The violent shaking of the front end. This usually occurs when you are approaching the speed of 60mph. We do not have to hit a bump for it to happen. The other complaint, is that we bought this truck with very low mileage for the year, ran great, looked great, very pleased until this last month when the check engine light came on and it seems to sputter. Put some high quality fuel injector cleaner in the truck, thinking it may be a injector sticking. Nope, didn't fix the problem. Light never went off. Took it to a dealership, they tested it and came back with your fuel tank is deteriorating putting little metal shards in your engine. You are looking at a potential full engine rebuild costing a minimum of $6000. This is unacceptable for any vehicle manufacturer to not recall a vehicle that has a serious known problem. We are stuck with this truck that is not worth the damn paper the title is written on. It is tiring of reading all these similar complaints and no one is defending the consumers. At what point, does the manufacturer need to be held responsible to own up to the faulty equipment and fix the problems? when my child is killed because of the inability to control the vehicle due to the steering problems in the front end or that it stops running in the middle of the highway or downtown traffic because the fuel tank deteriorated for no reason and destroyed the engine.

Fuel tank collapsed. Had a 2011 f350 and the fuel tank collapsed on itself the truck is a service body, took to the dealer and they said we damaged the tank and tried to cover it up by putting a new skid plate on it. Not the case the truck has never left the pavement so whatever they recommend we replace it so we did, this is a (steel tank mind you) the next day it did it again so we took to dealer again, they said the vent valve solenoid was plugged so they replaced that and put a new tank in it next day it did it again took back to dealer sat there for almost six months and they said the ecm or pcm was bad, they wouldn't cover anything in parts so far so we paid for that too. Got it back ran great for six months and now has the same issue. Don't wanna dump more money into it as we spent close to 9,000 the time and the dealer wont cover it again. So has anyone else had this issue? the dealer says its never happened anywhere to anyone before.
Since November 19, 2014 I have been noticing a strong fuel vapor smell from my truck. I reallty didn't think anything of it until I got into my truck and turned the key to the on position. All of a sudden I noticed that my rear gas tank was empty. I flipped the switch to the front tank and it was over full. After quite a period of researching online when I had time to, I found out that there had been a recall on the dual fuel tank selector valve. The 91s39 recall list 1989 f350 on it but my truck doesn't apparently fall under the recall cause the build date is 11/88 (November 1988) and VIN as a 1989. But my research online gave me the part number that was recalled. Part# e7ta-9b263-ab. Which my valve has that exact number on it. I bought this truck from the original owner and everything is original on it. Yes this is the original mileage. Unfortunately no maintence except for oil changes and tune up were done. Unfortunately he also never did any recalls. My truck goes into bell Ford (602-866-1776) here in phoenix, az for a brake recall and ignition switch recall. They said the dual fuel tank selector valve was not a recall for my truck. This is a major issue and all years with this part number should have been included in the recall. This valve cost almost $200. If Ford is not going to fix all there trucks with this valve issue they should at least send out a half off coupon so those of us they don't want to take care of can purchase the new updated valve and have it replaced. Unfortunatly I can not post the picture I have of my valve with part number in this section. Besides my personel email listed I can be emailed at my place of work at the city of phoenix at : thomas. Bulger@phoenix. Gov. Thank you thomas g. Bulger ii.
Purchased the 2002 f350 super duty dump truck new in 2003. It presently only has 20,200 miles on it. This past June the gas tank started leaking around the seam area. Thought that this was odd due to the low miles and soft usage the truck has had. Has there been a recall on this truck for gas tank issues? if not, there should be. . . . . As it it a safety issue.

Fuel tank liner is delaminating causing fuel system to clog up and truck to lose power. Ford refuses to cover this problem under warranty saying it is not their fault.
Tl- the contact owns a 2001 Ford f350. The contact stated while driving 60 mph the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The contact was informed that the lining inside the fuel tank had began to disintegrate and caused the failure. The dealer and manufacturer were notified but neither offered assistance. The contact owns a 2001 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated to 30 mph. The contact checked the fuel tank and discovered that the liner of the fuel tank was delaminating and clogging the tank. The dealer was notified and recommended the contact obtain a fiberglass tank. The contact emailed the manufacturer but had not received a response. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 67,000.
Engine began bucking, sudden power loss and power steering and power brake loss. Mechanic conclusion was that the lining of the fuel tank had dislodged and caused the engine to foul, causing a sudden power loss. Dealer said they had never heard of the problem but we later learned they were very familiar with it, had done dozens of repairs (replacement of tank with poly tank) and that a "secret" repair bulletin had been issued ty Ford to all dealers. This issue is now the subject of a class action lawsuit in new jersey. Google "Ford fuel tank lining" for more info on the suit, but by not issuing a recall this issue is a potential safety concern. Had we been in heavier traffic and unable to get the vehicle to the side of the road there may have been a serious accident.
