There seems to be a fuel leak on my vehicle's fuel tank. When the tank is half full and more there is a noticable fuel smell around my car and fuel dripping under my car. When the fuel is less than half full, the fuel seems to stop leaking. I believe the seam in the gas tank is leaking. I have heard of other people with my same year and vehicle having the same issues so I figured it was worth reporting.

Fuel pump relay module. Vehicle shut off during driving without warning forcing panic and moving to side of road and had to tow vehicle. No incident happened but after replacement no longer had issue.

Have difficulty fueling vehicle. “fuel fill inlet” warning stays on dash. Strong fuel mixture smell in cabin. Fuel will overspill if you try to pump gas at full force. Smells like fuel is leaking. Concerned about possible explosion. Many other drivers having the same issues. Strange clicking sounds from front end.

Driving down road at 45mph, vehicle lost power, motor quite running. Due to being on 4 lane divided road, and cars all around, I quickly hit my hazard lights, put it in neutral and coasted best I could and was able to turn on a side road to safety. This was very dangerous. Dash lights were on, no warning lights, messages before, during or after event. Tried restarting vehicle and it cranked away. Figured out had to repush the push start button to keep it from cranking away longer. Towed to local Ford dealer. They determined cause to be fuel pump driver module failed, (explains engine stop since there was no fuel supply, and needed replacement. In addition I had another issue, they found water pump was leaking out weep hole. I then discovered they built the water pump into the engine block, behind the timing chain. It takes 13 hours to replace, and if you don't replace, the water goes into the engine oil. Very bad design, knowing it would need to be replaced. Cost over $2500 and 1 week to change a water pump! ridiculous. I know a class action lawsuit has been filed-while not a safety issue directly, I think many people will not change it (due to expense), and then the engine blows up while driving creating a safety hazard.

We were experiencing an intermittent electrical issue where the vehicle would crank but not start every time. The vehicle was towed to the dealership on two separate occasions and the mechanic was unable to properly test the vehicle and/or recreate the problem. After some further research, I found a recall on slightly older VIN numbers for this model Flex. The recall for the fuel pump control module: fuel system, gasoline: delivery: fuel pump recall date 2016-08-24 recall no. 16v621000 Ford motor company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln mks and Lincoln mkt vehicles equipped with 3. 5l gtdi ecoboost engines and 2013-2015 Ford taurus police interceptor vehicles. A component within the fuel pump electric module (pem) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump. Recall consequence: a loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash. Recall action: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel pem part number and replace the fuel pem, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Approximately 2 months ago car would not start. Towed to dealer on Friday. Dealer evaluated it on Monday but car resumed starting. Retrieved car. This morning problem returned. Having already done a lot of research on this apparently common issue it seems most of the time it is the fuel pump control module located behind the plastic trim on the passenger side b pillar. A replacement part was acquired from a Ford parts dealer and installed into the car. Car starts and runs fine now.

Failure of the vehicle to restart and idle. Vehicle began to slow down, wouldn’t hold cruise speed setting, while driving on the highway; after exiting the interstate in rural colorado, it stalled completely. Dealer diagnosed a fuel pump control module failed and result is car only starts, short 8 second run, and shuts off. Replacement module solved the issue on my Ford Flex. Some Flex and similar models were issued recall for this item. Ford contacted, our Flex VIN number is not on the recall as issued.

My 2010 Ford Flex began inadvertently surging forward in acceleration without me making it do this exactly 3 months after I purchased the vehicle. The Ford dealer was unable to re-produce the problem on several occasions and said my vehicle was fine. No error messages reported in the computer. This has continued to happen sporadically since ownership. I have had another Ford dealership (as well as an independent mechanic) try and reproduce and diagnose the problem with no luck. Several weeks ago I was driving my vehicle in my residential neighborhood when all of a sudden my car surged forward with great acceleration with no warning. I had to swerve into a driveway and cut the vehicle off to get the vehicle under control. I am 82 and have a heart condition. This safety issue is critical as someone could get hurt or killed. Ford has several complaints of this happening with several models. I believe it is a Ford design flaw in the vehicles electronic throttle system. Ford corporate was put on notice of these events after the latest safety event. Please, I urge the NHTSA to issue a recall before lives are lost. I can no longer drive this vehicle as I am concerned someone is going to get hurt. It is being towed to the ravenel Ford dealership for inspection and diagnosis again. . . . .

I took it to russell and smith Ford in houston, TX. They said the battery was the issue. A week later same problem, it cranks but wont turnover. It is now at sterling mccall Ford in houston with the same problem. I will attach their diagnosis. I have 57, 000 miles only on this vehicle. I hope that this will all go out to all Ford dealerships. . Thank you.

Sudden repeated intermittent stalls at highway speed without warning.

Car was leaking fuel from underneath.

Loss of power, rpm too high for normal shifting up to 6 rpms. Cat converter noise after car shut off due to getting to hot. Fluctuation rpm at idle. Oil on top of valve cover.

Now replacing the fuel modual sensor for the 3rd time in 5yrs. This is a known issue for other Ford vehicles. Car will not start and needs to be towed each time. Front passenger door sensor doesn't work and interior light remains on until vehicle reaches 10mph. Interior light will not turn off and battery drains.

I tried starting the car it would start then sputter out very shortly after, after having this occur 3 times the car would not turn over at all and had to get a tow. I had it towed to the dealership, it sat for a day the dealership stated the car started up and they were able to move the car without an issue. They priced the work at $700+ to be completed. The recall number 16v621000 (or 16s31) did not show though it is the same exact issue he described.

10/15/2019 car went into limp mode with wrench showing. Turned the car off ad back on to see if it would help as it did this while driving in the middle of the road on a city street. It proceeded to return to limp mode almost immediately. Car was towed to mechanic who indicated the codes thrown were for a throttle body failure. The throttle body was replaced. A few days later it happened again and the throttle body was replaced under warranty for a second time along with the pcm. About 10 days later the car went into limp mode again and this time some wiring was replaced and we are waiting on the ecm. It is extremely unsafe when this occurs and we are fearful the problem will not be fixed since it has been in and out of the shop four times now; we are also afraid to travel on the highway for fear the car will go into limp mode dropping from 65 miles per hour to 5 also immediately. This seems to have been an issue with several makes and models of vehicles according to common repair complaints but especially Ford. Costs of repair and trouble shooting is also problematic. A complaint is also being filed with Ford.

When at idle the Flex begins to act as if it is going to stall then it does. When I restart it certain electric functions disable. My car is at 54k miles now but we have been having this problem since it was at 32k. I find it extremely coincidental that the same years eco boost engine is having a problem and was issued a recall but not my non eco boost v-6 does not have a recall.

I had problems with both the power steering and the fuel deliver on my Flex. In both cases I found recall notices that are exactly the same as noted in the recalls. In the case of the power steering the dealer replaced the module for free because it was still under warranty but said my vehicle was not part of the recall. Now I'm having problems with the fuel delivery exactly as described in the recall but the dealer still says my particular vehicle is not part of the recall. I believe there are more vehicles than originally determined that are having problems. The dealer in this case is village Ford, 23535 michigan, dearborn, mi. 48124. The car had been sitting while I was working (9 hours) and would crank but not start.

Accelerating on interstate ramp, vehicle stalled and shut off. It would not stay running. It sputters and dies after cranking. We had aaa tow it off the roadside after 90 minutes waiting.

The engine stalls without warning while driving, even on highway or intersection or filling gas and the vehicle don't restart right away � engine lights misfire. And engine throttle body sensors/oxygen sensors broke. Have fixed without resolve to issues (recurrent). On multiple dates and multiple times a day.

We have a 2012 Ford Flex normally aspirated engine. Starting in August, we had an issue with our electronic throttle body which caused our car to shut down. We had the part replaced, shortly after a similar problem occurred. This was due to the dealership frying the computer. This was replaced, by the dealership, after calling Ford directly. In February, the electronic throttle body failed again. Replaced under warranty. The same issue occurred last night and the vehicle will be taken back to the dealership. All signs point toward the electronic throttle body again. Every time this issue arises, the car goes into a safe mode while traveling down busy streets. This results in speeds of around 5 miles per hour and can cause major safety problems. The vehicle and the part installed are no longer considered safe to drive any distance greater than five miles from our residence, in case we need to get home. To clarify, the vehicle was in motion .

Wrench light appears on dash and the car loses all power - known as "limp home" mode. Codes clear upon restart. Took it to dealer after freeway incident on 2/17/19, dealer found no codes, stated it was motor mount. Got the car back on 2/25/17, and it happened again within 30 miles. Was able to pull code with my own scan tool - p2111. Known error in throttle. This happened while traveling approximately 40 mph, and once on expressway, two additional times at around 20 mph.

Was at home about to head to work, goes outside to start my vehicle and it wouldn't start it would continue to turn over and sputter but would never crank up.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the engine would crank, however, it would not start without warning. Due to the non start, the contact had the vehicle towed to pittsville Ford 7155 friendship rd, pittsville, MD 21850 (877) 760-5870 where once it was taken there, the vehicle started with no issues. Months later, the same failure occurred yet again without warning; the vehicle was towed back to the same dealer and the vehicle started up yet again without incident. When the failure occurred a third time, the contact disconnected the battery cable, waited a few moments, and the vehicle started without incident. When the failure occurred for the forth time, the same battery operation was not successful and the contact had to have the vehicle towed back to the same dealer. Upon investigation, the contact associated NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000(fuel system, gasoline) with her failure. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure where they verified that her vehicle was not under recall and that the vehicle was not under warranty; they offered no further assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. Jo.

Driving down the expressway had an engine shut down with no codes or previous symptoms. Turns out it was a complete maf sensor failure. No rough performance no check engine light. No warning just a complete shutdown. This with just 74,000 miles.

Ecoboost 3. 5l vehicle experienced total loss of power and white smoke from tailpipes while driving 65mph on expressway but still ran. Drove straight to an independent service center where they diagnosed low boost pressure dtc and failure of both turbochargers. Towed vehicle to Ford service center where they dug deeper and are now telling me there was a coolant system leak which washed out the engine oil and caused the engine to overheat and the turbos to fail(lock up). There have been numerous documented issues with coolant system leaks and oil supply to turbos causing failures/fire/overheating in ecoboost engines. . . Dealer is now telling me the entire engine needs to be replaced including the turbochargers in the ballpark of $13,000.

While driving, the car just stops. No power, cannot turn wheel, gas nor brake pedal works. Have to restart by pushing ignition button. This has happened a few times already and is a major safety issue.

This is the 3rd time this has happened in the past month. After driving the car to a location, turning the car off then returning to the car to leave, the engine will turn over, but will not fire. The indicators show the car running, I. E. Dash lights on even after getting out of the car. The smell of gasoline is present.

Gas smell and electronic issues. I bought my vehicle brand new. I first noticed smelling gasoline after the first oil change, so I had driven several months. The dealership blamed it on my undercoating stating that's what I'm smelling. It's gas definitely. I asked them to drive it a week since the smell comes and goes. They refused. It still does it and I have given up trying to get the dealership to find the issue. They did state the Flex is the same base as the police vehicle that has the gas emission leak. 2nd problem is "no key detected" light comes on when driving. Just yesterday my back up cam stayed on while driving. It was distracting and I felt a hazzard. I tried turning the vehicle off and on and that didn't work. After parking for an hour and trying again things went back to normal. When the back up cam was locked on the radio controls didn't work and the voice command did not work. I called the dealership today and they stated they "can't do anything unless it is currenlty malfunctoning". Not very reassuring to know. The dealership seems unwilling to help resolve potentially dangerous issues. I could crash if the back up cam is on while driving forward (due to distraction). If no key is detected when driving will the engine shut off?the gas smell is a concern because I should not be breathing gas!gas smell is while engine is running- parked or moving but the smell comes and goes. The electronic issue was a concern because the vehicle was in motion but it also did it while not in motion.

I was traveling westbound on interstate 265 at approximately 4 a. M. Sunday morning September 30th. The vehicle stalled out and came to a complete stop on the interstate. A wrench light was shown on the dash and the vehicle would not move forward. The incident was caused by a safety bulletin number 17 b28. Luckily I was about the only one on the road at that hour, because I am certain that had this happened in rush hour traffic there would have been an accident.

Id number 16v621000 isn't associated with my Ford Flex 2013 even thought the fuel module failed while driving and left us stranded.

I was driving down main street when my car stopped accelerating. I was able to move to the median turn it off and back on, but it still would could I putted across 2 lanes of traffic. Parked on a side street, turned it off and let it sit for a minute. I restarted and it drove fine. It did this exact same thing 2 days before. A yellow wrench appears on the dashboard as the issue is happening, but is not present any other time. The vehicle has around 80,000 miles on it. I am calling Ford today.

Having problems with the motor stalling out and not starting for days. I'vebparked after filling it up and parking it for the night. Only to go out in the morning and not starting. Then after a few days of sitting it would start.
