My "fuel pump module" on my non eco boost 3. 5 suddenly stopped functioning. The same module was recalled on the eco boost 3. 5 engine. I had just driven 800 plus miles in two days and the engine worked perfectly. Two days later, it would not start, while parked in the driveway. A day later it started. A day after that it would not start, again while parked. I googled the problem and replaced the part, and it has worked perfectly ever since. It would have been a real issue if it had failed while driving through west texas during the sub zero freezing temps.
Vehicle suddenly shut down causing the vehicle to stall and now won't start. Seems like our vehicle has no power going to the fuel pump. This happened while driving down the road. Vehicle now will not start but does still have lights come on. Acts like its not getting fuel.
I was driving and the car stopped all of a sudden in the middle of residential street at 6 am and when I tried to re-start it, it would crank but would not turn over and start back up so I could move it. I had to push it out of the middle of the street. I had to have it towed to the shop and they said it was the fuel pump control module.
I started my car and the check engine light came on. I have had no issues and the car had not been doing anything different. I had it checked and I got the code p025b. I was leaving the next morning to go to work and the car would crank but then it cut off as soon as I got out of the driveway in the middle of the road. I only have 90k miles on my car which is early for the fuel pump. I also read that some of the same model cars as mine have a fuel pump recall. I really need this to be checked because it just stopped out of no where. I was told by the Ford dealership that I would have to pay to have this checked to see if it was a malfunction.
Third time having the fuel pump replaced . Pump fails every 20-30k miles. Car will stop running while driving on roadways, unable to restart vehicle. Had to pull over to side of road and wait for tow. 1st time 36,000 miles 2nd 53,000, 3rd 90,000. All repairs were performed by Ford service center.

On October 18, 2019, while entering a parking space at the ikea parking lot, my car experience a loss of power, causing the engine to stall. I tried to start it up about 10 times, and nothing happened - it failed to start every time. After about 2 hours of trying, I finally had to have it towed to my house. When I performed a obd-ii system scan, with my scanner, I got a fault code of p0627 (fuel pump a control circuit) I took the car to the Ford dealer, and explained the problem. After two hours, they called me and said their tests revealed no fault codes. Based on the issue I described, they said that if I wanted, they can change the fuel pump, but I would have to pay $100 deductible under the extended warranty plan. The think that may fix the issue of stalling, or not starting. My issue is that if the problem is not fixed, it may increase the risk of a crash, at any given time, and without notice. Given the fact that there are other complaints about this same issue, I think that a general recall for this make/mode/year car should be initiated, before someone loses their life over it.
Vehicle failed to start, cranked continuously but no fuel. Our Flex has a normal aspirated engine. Vehicles with the ecoboost or turbo engine have a recall on the fuel pump electric module. I replaced the part myself and the Flex started immediately. Fortunately, the vehicle failed in the driveway and not driving down the road full of children. This component should be recalled on either engine option on the Flex. There are numerous stories of this component failing on either engine model. It is a $50 fix and I would urge all Flex owners to replace this component yourselves if Ford will not replace it for you. For less than a tank of fuel, you can replace this component yourself and avoid the possibility of being stranded with a vehicle that stalls out and will not restart or simply fails to start. Had I been aware of this, I would have done this ASAP. You have no control over where this failure will occur, I. E. On the highway late at night. This component needs to be recalled regardless of the engine. The replacement part is the same for both engines.
Car loses acceleration while driving and then stops running. Just driving along and all of a sudden the gas pedal will not work and the car dies. . . Says there is a Ford Flex recall on this model for faulty fuel pumps but doesn't show yet when VIN is entered . . This is happened to us twice now leaving us stranded and then have to be towed. . Driving on a country rd. Both times and unable to pull to safety.
Fuel pump failure at 90,000 miles. Exact issue was recalled on some models in the same year, just not my VIN. Pump is in high demand, prices are thus higher than usual and also unavailable thru anyone but Ford directly. My car was, thankfully, in the driveway when failure occurred and was towed to local shop.
My 2015 Ford Flex was exhibiting symptoms described in the Ford safety recall 16s31. The engine stalled while driving with no warning 5 times over the past two years of ownership with the most recent occurring on 6/20/2019 at 8:15 am. Each incident was at different speeds (30 - 70mph) but no warning prefaced the stall and you had to cut the power off and turn it back on for the car to start again. Two of the stalls were during turning operations while others were while driving straight. On other occasions the engine did not start via remote start, however no dates recorded. This recall, that describes the exact symptoms, states that it does not cover my vehicle because I have a different engine. However, the part in the recall is the fuel pump control module. My 2015 Ford Flex had the fuel pump control module aa8a-9d412-CA with the supplier part number 2177806-5e. As per the recall, this is a part that needs to be replaced. I just had the dealer replace it with the new part aa8z-9d370-b, service history below: we have taken the vehicle to two separate Ford dealerships over the past year due to this issue. Neither dealership recognized this issue because our VIN number wasn't on the list of vins provided by Ford. I paid for the repair recommend in safety recall 16s31 out of pocket so that my vehicle will be safe to drive again. The first dealership replaced the throttle body and charged us for it. After the issue occurred again, the second dealership again replaced the throttle body since the throttle body was still under warranty from the first repair. It appears the recall does not cover all of the affected vehicles. There are other Ford Flex that have these faulty parts.
Car stall and would not start. Replaced fuel pump and working again but my bin was not listed under the recall from what I can see rodors warped 3 turns. Replaced breaks twice within 10,000 miles.
While on the highway my car just shut down. 70 mile a hour traffic and it just dies. I get it off the road and have it towedvto a mechanic who tells me that it is the fuel relay sensor. We replace that and the car runs fine for about 4 weeks. While on the highway headed to take my kids to schoo it just dies in the middle of traffic. Once again I call for a tow truck and take it to the mechanics and once again he puts a new fuel pump relay sensor on. A gain it worked fine for about 4 weeks and quit again. Ford told me that my car had a recall on the fuel pump and that it was probaly acting up again. I asked if I could bring it in to be fixed and they quoted me some outrageous price. They said the recall had already been fixed on my car. Well if it had been fixed then I wouldnt be put in these dangerous situation s and afraid to drive my car for fear of getting rammed by a semi when my fuel pump just out of the blue decides to shut down . Please reopen the recall on these vehicles before someone gets killed.
I stopped the vehicle after driving about 1 mile to go into a store. After 4 minutes parked, it would crank over, but not start. It had to be towed to southgate Ford. They diagnosed it as a bad fuel pump control module. This is the very same part that's recalled on certain Ford Flex models of this same year (2014). The service department said my VIN number didn't fall under the recall, even though the identical part is recalled on 2014 ecoboost and police duty . Vehicles. The dealer charged $386. 65 to repair. If this failed while driving I would have suddenly lost power assist and speed.
Failure of engine to start/run due to a faulty fuel pump control module. Current Ford safety recall #16s31 (NHTSA #16v621) is limited only to Ford/Lincoln vehicles equipped with the ecoboost turbocharged engine. The faulty component on my normally aspirated engine, fuel pump control module #aa8z-9d370-b, is the same component being replaced on vehicles affected by the #16v621 NHTSA safety recall. To avoid engines shutting off at speed or not starting, it appears that the recall will need to be expanded to include normally aspirated engines as well. We were fortunate because our vehicle failed sitting in our driveway, not at 75 mph on the highway. My wife's concern is what would have happened to her and our four grandchildren if this failure had taken place on the interstate in busy traffic at 75 mph. Why is the same component that is failing on ecoboost turbocharged engines being covered by Ford safety recall #16s31 not being recalled on similar vehicles equipped normally aspirated engines using the identical component? failure of the component has the same effect of an engine that cuts off at speed or will not start. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. The safety of the owners of these popular Ford/Lincoln family vehicles is at stake.
Wife stopped and got gas, drove approximately 45miles, parked in the garage and wouldn't start the next morning. . . . . I attempted several times to get it started, and determined it was a fuel issue. Searched the web and found several complaints regarding 2013-2015 Flexs' with same complaint. Diagnosis was fuel pump relay, but not mine????.
My 2013 Ford Flex was repaired at malloy Ford in charlottesville, va. The car was parked and failed to start, so I had it towed to the local Ford dealership. The repairs consisted of replacing the fuel pump drive module and the fuel pump. My Ford Flex has 69k miles and is out of warranty. I had the vehicle towed to the local Ford dealership. The dealer informed me that the repairs were not covered by any recall notices. According to the NHTSA website, these repairs should be covered by Ford motor company. Both of these items the fuel pump module and pump are listed 1) fuel pump malfunction, NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 manufacturer Ford motor company components fuel system, gasoline. Ford's number for this recall is 16s31. 2) fuel delivery module may crack and leak NHTSA campaign number: 15v812000 components fuel system, gasoline Ford's number for this recall is 13s04-s1. The first part of my complaint is that Ford does not recognize either of these two recalls on its own website, or in the automated phone dial-in system that I used to reach customer service; I. E. , when I input the Ford recall numbers of 16s31 or 13s04-s1, the message I received was that no such recall existed! the second part of my complaint is that when I spoke with the supervisor the response was that my vehicle was manufactured at a site that did not have the problems covered by the recall. I pointed out that the manufacturing site had nothing to do with this; rather the parts that failed where indeed the parts in the recall messages. Supervisor recommended that I file a complaint and provided me a case number. So I am writing to make this a formal complaint. The bill was $1078.
Car would not start. Towed to garage. Fuel pump driver and fuel pump bad and melted.
My fuel pump and is not communicating with electric perm module and my car is not starting it cut off on the highway going 70 mph it came back on and now it won't come on at all.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the power steering control module and the fuel pump relay module failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle would be placed on the recall list. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
The fuel pump control module failed, which caused the engine to stall and not start. . Read more...
Our 2015 Ford Flex recently died when we were driving in traffic, with no warning when we were driving with our 2 young children. The Ford Flex only has ~45k miles on it and has been serviced regularly. Turns out it is bad part (fuel pump electric module (pem)) that is recalled by Ford in the 2015 Flex. The recall was started in 2016 and our Flex died in 2018. I was told by the dealer and later by Ford service that our car is not covered because the VIN is not included in the recall. So while some 2015 Ford Flexs' had this exact part covered under warranty ours was not. We had to have it towed into the dealer, san tan Ford in gilbert az, and then pay them about $400 for the repair. The dealer was great but it is not right Ford does not cover this part on our particular car since it is exactly the make, model, year and part that is covered under the warranty. Below is a copy of the recall from the NHTSA. Gov website. Summary: Ford motor company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln mks and Lincoln mkt vehicles equipped with 3. 5l gtdi ecoboost engines and 2013-2015 Ford taurus police interceptor vehicles. A component within the fuel pump electric module (pem) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump. Consequence: a loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash.
My 2014 Ford Flex will not start. I came home from work, shut of car. Went out a short time after wards to go out to dinner. Would not start. Engine turns over, engine almost starts but doesn't. Fault codes from computer indicate fuel pump control module. Ford has a recall for 2013- 2015 Flexes for a potential fuel pump control module failures causing stalling while driving, and engine will not restart. Why is my model not included in the recall?.
Faulty fuel pump module renders car inoperable without warning. No error code. Module has been recalled in other models, but not this one.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. While reversing out of the driveway, the vehicle lost power steering ability. The contact had to engage the steering wheel with force, which caused an injury to the right shoulder. Medical attention was not received. The vehicle was towed to a personal mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power steering assist failed. Also, the fuel pump failed over six months ago. The personal mechanic replaced the fuel pump control module. An unknown Ford dealer was contacted and stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign numbers: 15v250000 (steering) and 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline). The steering failure was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
In October 2018, our Ford Flex was parked in the driveway when we tried to start it and it did a minor crank and then nothing. It wouldn't start or do anything. Worked fine the night before. Had to have the car towed and turns out the fuel pump control module failed on it costing $650 to replace the part. Seems like this is a major issue with these cars and I don't understand why there isn't a recall or refund on the repairs as there was on the turbocharged ones. I have had one problem after another with this vehicle and told that each part "somehow failed" before it's time with no other explanation than bad parts. The wheel bearing failed, the touch on the touch screen has failed, the electric seat failed and now the a/c compressor has failed as well. I am ready to get rid of this money pit car.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. While attempting to drive the vehicle, it failed to start. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and transferred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
First time car wouldn't start parked at work, 2 days later on Monday it started, drove it to dealer, they replaced the sender and pump asy, under warranty. 3 mths later sputter and died pulling into traffic, had car towed to dealer, they replaced fuel pump control module, not on recall or warranty.
Car just dies in the middle of driving and the steering systemlocks up. There has been a known recall for a fuel control module on Ford Flex, there is also known fuel pump problems with Ford makes and models. I have lost power twice. Had at the mechanic last month. Could not get it to die for an entire week in the shop. Now it is dead in a parking lot again.
Fuel control module failed leading to vehicle failing to start. Engine would crank/turn over but no fuel delivered. Dealer diagnosed after vehicle was towed for service. Fuel pump determined to be good after bypassing fuel control module. Vehicle was stationary at time of failure.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the fuel pump electric module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline) because it covered the eco boost model vehicles. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
2010 Ford Flex limited ecoboost awd. Electrical power steering. Intermittent loss of power steering with no lights, notifications, or warning. Fixed short term by turning car off and back on again. Very dangerous at low speeds, especially with the weight of the vehicle and size of the tires, specifically for smaller people. Recall from Ford for 2011, will not help at all with a 2010 Flex. Has already caused one accident in a parking lot resulting in damage to rear driver side quarter panel after steering wheel became stuck while reversing. Fuel pump also not engaging, resulting in stalls and the car not starting (no ticks, humming, buzzing, lights and radio work). Overall, a very dangerous combination if they were to occur simultaneously, especially at speed. Car was purchased around 1 1/2- 2 months ago. Both issues are becoming more and more frequent.

Vehicle shut off while pulling away from a stop light. Pulled to side of road and the aa8a-9d412-CA fuel pump relay was extremely hot and vehicle would crank but not start. Pulled connector and let the relay cool. Reinstalled connector and vehicle started with no issues. When I returned home I ordered a new relay and replaced the unit. Vehicle was in a dangerous situation with traffic around. This could have caused an accident.
Engine stopped while driving in walmart parking loot. Would not start. Towed to garage who traced the cause to. Fuel pump control module. There is an existing recal for this problem from 2013 to 2014 Ford Flex however my VIN shows as not covered. Whatever criteria to limit recall appears to be invalid.
