Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging Problems of Ford Flex

The fuel gauge will read between 1/2 and 1/4 tank then immediately make a *ding* and the display reads 0 miles. The fuel gauge will drop to empty. If you drive anything further than a short distance (10 miles or so) the car will die. It is "out" of fuel. Refilling the tank you will find that the vehicle still has whatever fuel the gauge was showing before it dropped to zero. It is consistent, it does this every tank. Appears to be getting worse as time goes on.

Driving on highway and had 1/4 tank of fuel left when low fuel warning beep sounded. Fuel gauge was suddenly at "e" and display said 0 miles until empty. Immediately pulled into a gas station. Gas pump shut off after filling only 14. 5 gallons, although tank capacity is 18. 6 gallons.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. When attempting to restart the vehicle after filling the tank, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact had the vehicle towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel tank module failed and needed to be replaced. The contact spoke with the dealer who informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Purchased a pre-certified 2010 Ford Flex at vermont dealership 3. 07. 2014 with a premium extended warranty plan. Travel between vermont and new york. Approximately April /may 2017 noticed powerful smell of gasoline after filling vehicle, couldn't close garage due to smell and parked away from others. Garage replaced rotted fill neck yoke 5. 12. 2017. Problem seemed to abate but persisted , now in garage and extensive work to drop gas tank where the metal flange connecting fuel line and pump to the tank is totally corroded. There is a recall on other Ford vehicles for salt corrosion from road salt to the fuel tank causing dangerous leaks. I could have blown up and my home from this !! that recall targets northern states such as the one I purchased my car including vermont and new york recall number 15s3. No fire as a) I was very lucky b) it's in the garage with a huge bill.

June get to florida 6 blocks away from where we will be staying and new Ford Flex gas tank ruptures leaving us with no gas to get off freeway. Called Ford customer service agent since vehicle is under warranty and they called a tow truck. June dropped off keys for Ford Flex at tropical Ford at 9am. Explained to jack what was wrong with gas tank. Got a call from jack a few hours later and he said they were all set. I asked if he found the gas tank issue and he said no they looked under the vehicle and it didn't appear anything was wrong so I can take the truck. I then asked did you pour fuel in it to see if it is leaking because I have pictures of the gas leaking. He said no it just looked like it was fine.
