The contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to pearson Ford (located at 10650 n michigan rd, zionsville, in 46077, 317-873-3333) where it was diagnosed that the fuel delivery system failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The first insistence the car cranked over but would not start. The second incidence I was driving down the road and the car cut out. The third incidence the car would crank but not start, and the check engine light came on, with a code that said the fuelpump control circuit/open. Now sits and cranks but will not start.
Vehicle has stalled twice while in motion. On city street.
I was traveling on the i24 at 65 mph when the Ford Flex suddenly began to slow to zero. It was still running but would not accelerate. It nearly caused a major accident. I coaster to a stop and turned off the car. After a few minutes, I cranked it and it ran ok for about 5 minutes, but the check engine light was on. I drove it to the Ford shop immediately. They said the accelerator assembly was defective. I replaced it at a cost of over $400. The vehicle is only 3 years old with only 40,000 miles. I saw online that this had happened to others as well. This is an extremely dangerous problem that has occurred with many Flex owners and should be recalled before others lose their life.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. When it would start, the vehicle would stall while driving unknown speeds. The low pressure warning indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact called jc lewis Ford (9505 abercorn st, savannah, GA 31406). The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall; however, the symptoms were identical to NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline). Fuel is not getting to engine this vehicle was manufactured in oakville ontario between the time of a recall (16v621000) but does not have echo boost engine. Ford claims it is not part of the recall but the issue matches the exact recall.

I was driving approximately 45 mph uphill when suddenly, and without warning, the Flex decelerated to a coasting speed. I was able to pull into a turn lane but unable to accelerate. The wrench light came on. I turned off the car and turned it back on. The wrench light was on and their was ability to accelerate beyond crawling. I turned the car off and back on and was able to drive normally to work.

Driving on i75 headed south just n of forsythe GA 3 lanes of traffic 75 mph or faster wrench light comes on and no power. With gods luck there was like a 10 second window where we got over to to right been and of the road. My wife and granddaughter were very frightened. Car was dead no power! waited a couple minutes and the car started so the air would work this is July 1st called roadside assistance first operator was not good and her english was terrible next lady was great but tow was 2 hours away. Towed to Ford dealer closed till Monday. Monday morning Ford dealer says its a throttle actuated stuck have to replace throttle body. They did a good job on the road couple hours later. This a very serious safety issue.
I was driving northbound on us 23 on 6/10/2017 when my vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not respond to gas pedal. I coasted to the side of the road fortunately without striking another vehicle or the vehicle behind me rear ending me. A orange wrench appeared on the digital screen in my instrument cluster and a message appeared that said "see manual. " manual stated this was a power-train failure. I turned car off and restarted and was able to drive on. Once restarted, the wrench symbol disappeared. On 6/11/2017, while driving to work, the vehicle did the same thing only 1. 5 miles after ignition. Sudden deceleration, coast to side of road, very low rough idle and would not respond to gas pedal depress. Fortunately no vehicles behind me. This time I had my wife bring my scan tool to me and I plugged into the obd2 port and received a code "p2111 throttle actuator control system - stuck open. " once again I turned car off and back on and was able to continue on. I went to bruce walters Ford in pikeville, ky on 6/12/2017 at 2pm and attempted to have the vehicle repaired. The service adviser as well as service manager advised me they could not read any code and therefore could not do anything. I explained that it resets when you turn off and back on and there is no way to drive the car when it happens because it is disabled. I was advised by both people that I just needed to drive the car until it broke down and have it towed in while still running that way they could read the code. I thought this was unbelievable. No tow service will tow a running car. I tried to explain but was only told that they had to be able to read the code to help. I left dealership and called Ford corporate and was told the same thing. Drive until I broke down and have it towed while running so the code could be read. Having a vehicle randomly shut down on the road is super dangerous.
Driving car to work on a town road, car suddenly stalled and would not restart. Lost power steering. Lights were still on on the dashboard but could not restart the vehicle. Was able to restart the vehicle after 5 minutes.

Driving the vehicle on the highway and heard a clunk and felt a slight loss of power and control. Pulled over to check vehicle and noticed flames coming underneath the engine compartment. Car soon became engulfed and was a total loss. The origin and cause expert hired by our insurance company suspects an injector line came loose on the engine and sprayed fuel onto exhaust manifold.
Fuel control module - vehicle has 30,932 miles on it, and is 4 months outside of the 3year/36,000 mile warranty. Drove and filled up the vehicle on the afternoon of 2/12 and all was well. Came out of my home on the morning of 2/13 to go to work and the vehicle would not start. After several attempts, had to call and have the vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership. Ended up having to take the day off work trying to get the vehicle towed, arrange for repair, etc. After a day and a half, on 2/14, I was told that the problem was a computer malfunction and the computer was "rebooted" and the car finally started for the techs; but that they would like to keep it for a day or so to make sure it would continue to start. On, 2/16, I was called by the service advisor and was told that the car would not start again and that the fuel control module was bad and needed to be replaced and the cost would be over $400. I asked if he would go to the manager and see if this could be replaced at no cost since it was just outside of the warranty period and the vehicle didn't even have 31k miles on it. The advisor called back and said that they would be able to replace for $175. After getting home and able to do a little research, it appears that Ford has been recalling the fuel control module on many Flex boost models, but the problem seems to be across the board in several of the models (including mine), but Ford has not issued a recall on those models yet. It is my belief that Ford should be issuing a recall on all the affected models, not just the boost engine models!!!.
My 2011 Ford Flex is back at the dealership after three turbos being replaced on it's 3. 5 liter ecoboost engine. Our vehicle was at the delerahip for a month and we just got it back on Thursday. On Saturday I was on the highway when it began shuttering and just died. I was left powerless in the left lane of a four lane highway and had to manuver across three lanes to get to the shoulder with three children on board. Vehicle would not restart and while turning the key white smoke billowing from under the hood. Very strong smell of electrical burning. I thought it wa going to catch on fire and had the children get out of the vehicle on the side of a very busy highway. This is the third time at the dealership for this car with engine problems. Please advise on what course of action I need to take so this defective engine does not cause death or injury.
Driving up an on ramp to an interstate, suddenly all the lights started flashing on the dashboard display. I could not see any speed or driving information. I pulled over to the side of the road turned off the vehicle and it would not restart. Nothing would happen when I turned the key, dashboard lights still flashed. Car restarted after 5 minutes and I drove it directly to the dealership. By the time I arrived at grappone Ford in concord, nh my dealership the dashboard lights were again flashing and I could not see any data.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. While driving approximately 35 mph, the power seized. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,500. The VIN was not available.
Apparently my "throttle body" electronics went bad and caused my engine to stop while I was in fast lane of freeway. . . Barely made it to the shoulder. No warning until after car was off. Dealer was "aware" of this problem with this 2015 Ford engine although Ford hasn't done anything to warn customers or recall to fix. . It is noticed however in safety issues with orgs. It is inexcusable that the care will not warn of pending problem, and turns off on its on (or slows down to crawl) and Ford has not taken action on problem they are aware of.
Driving the vehicle on city street, a maintenance indicator lit up on the dash and there was no power (acceleration. ) vehicle did not shut off, but the accelerator pedal would no longer operate or rev the engine. Coasted to side of road and turned off. Upon restart vehicle operated normally. Turned around to head home. Pulled out from side street and it happened a second time. This time with a check engine light as well. Had there been traffic coming a severe accident could have occurred. Again, turning off and restarting resolved (temporarily) the issue. In the next 3 miles to get home, it occurred 3 more times. Ford dealership diagnosed it to be a faulty throttle body, parts are back ordered. Ford knows this is an issue and has "covered" some models, but still ignores the danger.
Upon acceleration, usually from a complete stop such as accelerating from a stop sign or on a green light, it feels as though the gears do no catch & the car jerks and the rpm's raise but the car stops accelerating. Will also have a "stuttering" or "jerking" while at a complete stop with break pedal being pressed down. I have taken this issue to the dealership as it is still under extended warranty and have been told that everything checked out normal & the mechanic at the dealership was unable to get the vehicle to have such described malfunctions because it is doesn't happen every single time the car is driven. The jerking while driving actually occurs on a daily basis but is sporadic & can jerk you forward due to the sudden loss of acceleration capability, startling and painful because the seatbelt mechanism has engaged in the past.
My wife and I were preparing to pull into a parking space, outside of an applebee's restaurant. When she tapped on the gas paddle to pull into the parking space, the vehicle lunged forward extremely fast, causing the vehicle to jump the curb. Here immediate reaction was pressing the brake, but the vehicle did not stop until it crashed into the restaurant. Thankfully there were not any civilians walking in front of the vehicle. The only person that was injured is my wife. The landscape and the building was damaged; along with our vehicle. Over $7,500 dollars worth of damage to the vehicle.

Vehicle was unable to maintain or increase engine power: pressing down the throttle had no effect. First I thought the engine had stalled. After a few moments the engine did function again. This has happened many times before, but only intermittently. This is a safety problem for me because if it happens while I am passing a car I am losing a major control.
The Ford panel near the driver and passenger window continues to come apart. As far as the vehicle's fuel. The first time I was at a gas station. I put gas in my car. I got back in the vehicle and my gauge was still on empty. So I got worried. Then I went to a different gas pump and put more gas in there. I started my car and it was still on empty. I drove around the parking lot to see what would happen and about 2 minutes later my gas gauge was 3/4 full. This was in November. Then about 5 times after that. I will be on the last mark before empty and not only does it go from 80-70 miles to e to complete 0 miles, but my gauge goes from that mark to pass the e. I was driving my vehicle and it went from that same mark ( the mark right before the e) and just ran out of gas. I have took it to the shop twice and that can't find a code. They said if it happens again then bring it back in. But the inconvenience I have to wait until I have time. It happened today Feb 10 2014 and I raced to a gas station. I don't want it to happen and I'm driving in traffic and have an accident because my gas gauge is wrong and I stop in the middle of traffic. I don't want to get stranded somewhere either because I have a kid. I have seen same complaints about this vehicle. So I'm very concerned.

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Ford Flex. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed that there was a misfire on cylinder number 3 and 2 and the fuel injector was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure recurred while driving approximately 50 mph. The vehicle did restart. The contact connected a code reader to the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as a misfire on cylinder number 3 and 2. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000. Sw.
Engine stumbled and then lost power. It re-started but idled at 750rpm. Car would not accelerate. Placing the car into neutral and depressing the accelerator did not increase the engine speed. This persisted about 3-4 minutes. Afterwards, the engine speed responded to the accelerator, and when placed in gear, accelerated normally. This has happened three times in the past year.
I received the recall notice on Saturday, 7/27. I am leaving for vacation on August, 3, will be gone for 3+ weeks and will drive approx. 4000 miles. I called several dealerships on Monday, 7/29, but am unable to find anyone willing to schedule service for before 8/9 -- they have to order the part and then will schedule me once it has come in. I called Ford's customer relationship center twice and got no assistance. Ford tells me that if I don't currently smell gas, the car is currnently safe to drive. However, I am concerned that I will be on vacation thousands of miles from home and develop a problem but have no way to address it. If there is a safety problem and a recall notice is issued, the dealerships should have parts on hand and be prepared to repair cars quickly for people in my situation. A recall notice on a potential fuel line problem is of no use if dealers are prepared to deal with the safety issue promptly.
A 2013 Ford Flex rental vehicle used for a 4-hour drive from the san diego area to southern arizona was leaking gasoline fumes, which kept entering the cabin and made all passengers nauseous, including an elderly female with alzheimer's disease. The vehicle was parked inside a garage overnight and the following morning all the interior areas of the house, including all bedrooms, were saturated with a very potent smell of gasoline. After inspecting the house, it became obvious that the fumes were coming from the rental 2013 Ford Flex vehicle, and the garage had an extremely potent concentration of gasoline fumes. Although there was no explosion, we all felt ill and took us about a week to fully recover. When this happened we were in an area without phone or internet access, but I reported the incident to the rental company when I returned the vehicle to the rental company, but they did not appear to be too concerned.
My 2013 Ford Flex has had the same issue as the Ford explorer. I purchased the vehicle new from sanderson Ford in glendale az and noticed after a hard acceleration with the air conditioning set to recirculate. The dealer stated they could not recreate the issue and I took it back home. Years past and it was taken back again and same thing they could not re-create due to there was no mechanic that could drive it at higher speeds. I included a Ford Flex forum that explains the issue and shows that it does exist out there. Please add the Ford Flex to the "recall" fix of these issues. In the federal regulations under 49 cfr 393. 83 the exhaust shall not leak / discharge so that it enters a sleeper compartment of a truck tractor. We have the same thing here the exhaust leaks into the compartment of where the driver is at. . Read more...
Check engine light went on and when diagnosed it was one of the oxygen sensors. It had to be replaced in order for the rest of the safeties to operate properly. It was a defective part that cost over $400 to replace. Warranty was declined, however, the design life of the part must be in excess of 150000 miles. If this part were failing all the time, there would be a recall. My defective part was not replaced by Ford as it should have been. There are no moving parts, it should not wear out.
New 2013 Ford Flex has carbon monoxide leaking into car when you accelerate. Dealership and Ford know of this. Could potentialy be deadly.
