Brake Disc problems of the 2000 Ford Focus - part 2

Front brakes are making a squeaking noise when brakes are applied. Dealership stated that brake pads and rotors were wore out and needed to be replaced. Dealership informed conusmer that rotors were not a covered part, and they would have to have this repaired.

After 3,000 or 4,000 miles brakes start jumping. Need chanche disc(l,r)serviced. Reported they said need to send to machine shop. Mr.

Brakes make a squealing noise when trying to come to a complete stop. When contacting a dealer , dealer changed otors/drums, and pads.

The brakes on this vehical have been replaced several time since my purchase. Rotors, calipers pads and shoes once at 12,000 miles , pads and shoes again at 23,000. Calipers rotors and shoes and drums at 48,000. Something is wrong.

This car has giving me nothing but trouble. This is the second one I have owned, the first one Ford bought me out of because it was a lemon, and this one is worse than the first one. The Ford Focus is nothing but a lemon. I will never own another Ford for as long as I live. Ford needs to stand by their product and take this car back. It is obviously not fixable. I have this car in the shop at least every other week, I only have 5,955 miles on this thing. I hate this car!!!!!.

Front brake system failed, gave no warning from one moment to next the only thing we heard was metal on metal grinding. Dealership does not want to cover under bumper to bumper warranty. Because the inside pads were worn down to metal and the outter pad had worn down to about half wear the dealer told us it was "negligent abuse" . This way it would not be covered under warranty. Cruise control failed after one week of purschase took dealer over two months to call. Now keyless entry do not function. Dealer very evasive reguarding information available to us the consumer and now owners about recalls and customer complaints involving Focus.

Brake pads and rotors failed, worn out at less than 13000 miles. Reported burning smell from brakes at 3700 miles. (dealer refused to place repair under warranty). . Replaced both front pads and rotors. At 3700 miles bumping. . Grinding noise noted had to lower sub frame. . Upper rack assembly tightened ed bolt to rack and streering shaft.

Ongoing problem with brake system, it causes steering wheel to shimmy or pedal would go closer to floor intermittently, and cause extended stopping distance. Vehicle been in dealer shop on three occasions and problem still occurring. Consumer states the problem is the front disc brakes.

Everytime consumer put on brakes they would squeak. Took to dealer, and they said it was normal. Consumer took in a second time for the same problem, and they replaced the pads, a few thousand miles later at 3000 miles, there was vibration, took to dealer and rotors were warped. Dealer eplaced rotors.

I replaced the whole braking system, pads,rotors,drums and shoes in less than 10,000 miles, again in less than a year and in Nov. . Read more...

Contacted Ford still no progress look my car is new the but brake squeak so loud it drives me crazy I know my issue is not big of deal compared to other issues, its just not fair that Ford does not give a damm.

Rear and front brakes are making a squeaking noise, took to dealer and changed rear brakes.

Front brake rotors and brake pads are completely worn out with low mileage accumulation. Please describe details.

Rear drum brakes make squeaking sound when applied. Front disk brakes make metal on metal grinding sound when applied. Dealer did brake inspection and said all Focus cars make this sound and they cannot fix or replace brake linings or disk material until a recall is declared. It is unnerving to drive a new vehicle with potential for brake problems.

Premature wear and tear of brake rotors caused brakes to grind. Had brakes/caliper, and rotors replaced twice. Problem still exists. Dealer and Ford manufacturer contacted.

Brakes needed to be completely replaced at 15k miles due to squeaking problem. Per dealer, brakes were completely worn down and could not be repaired. .

This car has had so many problems it makes me sick. A quick list: air conditioning leaked all over my interior, one tire replaced, one windshield replaced, now need new brakes, had transmission replaced on Friday, is always having strange little problems, cd player skips after 45 minutes of use, brakes have always squeaked unbelievably loud. I want to get rid of this car but I can't afford it because I owe more than it is worth. (tiresize: 15).

Brakes are squeaking and grinding. Took vehicle to dealer, and had brakes repaired, but problem still exists.

Front pads and rotors needed replacement at 29000 miles.

Excessive wear of the front and rear brake pads, shoes and rotors. Parts have been replaced seven times. Please provide any further details.

Took car back to dealer within the first and second week of purchase.

Brakes were squeaking at 10,000 miles. Took vehicle to dealer, but was told it was a normal characteristic. At 22,000 miles, consumer took vehicle to dealer for another problem with alignment. Consumer was told by dealer that brakes were down to metal. Please provide further information.

My car is 2 years old and I have had to replace the brake pads 3 times, and the rotors replaced once. I am also having problems with a constant sqeaking when I use my brakes. Ford needs to fix my car and the brakes at no charge because it is an ongoing problem.

Consumer states that when vehicle was started, and put the vehicle in reverse there was a loud clunking sound and the vehicle refused to move, consumer turned off the vehicle and got out to see if anything was lodged behind the wheels there was nothing there so consumer restarted the vehicle put it in reverse and there was a crunching sound then a sudden surge as the vehicle moved as consumer backed out of driveway and drove away, vehicle seemed sluggish, consumer took vehicle in to be inspected and was advised that since the brake linings in Ford products had been changed to metal particle from asbestos that the linings flaked off dust and the dust collects inside the drums when it is humid, the dust tends to clump and freeze up the drums.

When ever there is moisture in the air (rain, snow, etc) the rear wheels (brakes) seize up on the vehicle. Both sides are affected. The wheels "drag" until the "seal is broken" and the wheels can spin freely again. This has happened numerous times. Any slight bit of moisture and the vehicle to stay parked for at least one day causes the seizure of the wheels. Once the wheels are freed, there does not seem to be any other noticeable effect in driving. Wheels have sometimes dragged up to 20 feet before freeing, other times they "break free" in a couple of feet.

Consumer states that vehicle only has 1700 miles on it, but hearing a metal to metal "grinding" noise when brakes were applied. Dealer diagnosed that brake pads, rotors and front discs, all needed to be replaced.

Molding on right rear passenger door coming off; do not feel safe in vehicle b/c of all the recalls and can't take off work for all of these recalls; thumping coming from under steering column, told that it is a characteristic of the car, but sounds like same problem that was recalled in rear wheel bearings; overdrive off button doesn't work; brakes squeak and wear down too easily and I had to pay to get them replaced;this car is a piece of junk. I bought a new car b/c I did not have time to get my old car fixed all of the time. I thought buying a new car would eliminate this, but I take this to the shop all the time for recalls and problems. This is insane! something has to be done!.
