Engine Stall problems of the 2000 Ford Focus - part 2

Engine stalls when car in extended turns (such as freeway on ramp). Problem first notice when fuel indication at just under 1/4 tank. Problem occurring at over 1/4 tank now.

My daughter, who is the primary driver of this vehicle, reported that while driving on adams road the engine started to lose power. She pressed the accelerator but the engine continued to slow down. She then pulled the car off the main road and the engine stalled. She was able to restart the negine and proceed. The fuel tank was 1/2 full. No warning lights (ie. "check engine") were illuminated prior to the stalled engine condition. We contacted the dealer on April 18, 2002 about this problem but they indicated they could not diagnose the condition and that we "should wait for it to happen again" before bringing it in for a check. I am concerned about this incident repeating itself in a highway situation.

Driving along the freeway and the engine stalled. Was able to refire the motor and continue car conti nued to run rough.

Engine stalls at any speed. Consumer feels it's unsafe because it can happen on freeway without warning. Dealer has replaced oxygen sensor, but problem reoccurred. Jg.

Engine stalled four times during normal operation. Dealership examined vehicle and replaced fuel pump and lines. Then in middle of July, while traveling at approximately 40 mph and entering highway, vehicle stalled again. Dealer stated that problem was no longer covered under warranty. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

On 03/08/01, while driving 65mph on freeway, engine stalled. Vehicle towed to dealer and fuel pump replaced on 03/09/01. Problem began reocurring on 03/13/01. Problem seems to start after vehicle is warm and has been driven at highway speeds for 10-15mins. Once problem starts, it will reoccur several times within short distances (1/4 to 1/2 miles), necessitating pulling to side of roadway and restarting vehicle. Once problem starts, it will reoccur at both surface street and highway speeds.

Engine stalled three times so far during downshift, the first time was two years ago and last time was last week. It all happened when I'm slowing down and approching exit on the highway, I disengaged clutch try to downshift and the engine stalled, had to turn the key to start and engine again.

Engine stalling - may be same as NHTSA action # pe02040 (vehicle has base 2. 0 liter engine and 5-manual), vehicle stalled at highway speed when clutch was in, restarted when clutch released.

The engine stalled, which caused the vehicle to lose power steering and brakes.

The seal on windshield came off and there was a noise in the front end of the vehicle. The engine stalled, and the vehicle experienced a fuel system problem.

While driving at low speed and without warning vehicle stalled. Then, shutoff in the middle of traffic. Dealer has been notified mechanic stated engine stalling was under investigation.

Intermittently when brite switch is activated engine stalls out and dies. Also, starts up immediately afterwards on its own while vehicle is in motion. Dealer has not been able to duplicate or correct problem.

Approx, 1 month ago the engine stalled out while driving on the highway. 6/6/02 the engine stalled out on highway offramp. 6/7/02 car stalled out while going approx 35mph on a city street. This sounds alarmingly like the "focus" of one of the two new investigations being opened. I am going to try to get my dealer to let me out of my lease. Thanks.
