My car had a safety recall on it,it said it needed a fuel tank, fuel pump, evap control module and 2 evap canisters,Ford said the recall was closed and would not fix my car,so I took it to mechanic to get all of this replaced and Ford will not sell him a fuel tank for my car because it had a recall on the VIN number. Now what do I do? how can I make Ford fix my car?.
My check engingie light came on,took it to mechanic,he said it was a safety recall on the evaporative emissions purge valve, evaporative emissions canister, fuel pump module, fuel tank. Heartland forf in heber springs ark. ,said they coded this car last December and now all of this is wrong with the car. What can I do? I can't pay for this and now its wrong with my car! it was a recall and nothing has been fixed on my car but the door latches.
I had 2 recalls on locks and fuel pump and now today @7:00am I have transmission melfunction. I will never buy a Ford again.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. While driving, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the highway and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. When the vehicle was powered off and restarted, the vehicle drove normally. On another occasion, while attempting to drive the vehicle, it failed to start. The vehicle was taken to rogel Ford (located at 26167 ms-27, crystal springs, ms 39059, (601) 892-3673) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Furthermore, the front driver side door failed to close. The vehicle was taken back to rogel Ford where the door was repaired, but not diagnosed. The contact was informed by the dealer that they also reprogrammed the power train module. The contact stated that the fuel gauge would show full when it was supposed to be at half a tank. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and stated that rogel Ford repaired the vehicle per NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). No further assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 159,000.
11/13/17 my transmission stalled, making loud shudder noises and failed to accelerate. Ford replaced the tcm and reprogrammed the clutch. There was recall for safety latches on the doors to be replaced as well. 10/24/18 vehicle started and would cut off. Attempted to drive it but then the car died in the drive way. Had to have car towed. Replaced fuel pump module and gaskets. Total of $810. 96 not including towing fee. The very same night I picked my car up after it being fixed a recall was issued for fuel pump module failure. Ford refused to refund my money and insisted that since the fuel pump was not affected it was not related. I had to go back to Ford 10/3018 to have fuel vapor and seals replaced. So 2/3 parts needed replacing of which cost me. 5/4/19 I was driving down the road and my transmission went out. The car would not accelerate, brake or downshift. I was stuck at 60mph. I had to allow the car to coast home. Had to have it towed three sepearte times during this event. My car was still under warranty and powertrain includes all internally lubed parts. Ford told me that the one specific part that needed replacing inside my transmission, which is internally lubed was not covered. This repair including towing cost me $2,400. 00 now there is another 2 recalls out on my very car for tcm/ transmission replace/shudder. This has been the most dangerous car I've ever owned. Every time I turn around I'm shelling out hundreds and now thousands of dollars for a car I am still paying on.
Off and on for the past 2 months go out to start the car put it in reverse attempt to back up and the steering wheel becomes stuck it will not turn at all you have to give it 1 min and then try again and then it resumes normal, last summer was driving down the main highway the right headlight went out the next morning start the car and appears in screen default on the l lighting open the hood to see all electrical wires to the headlights were burnt where the bulb connects to the wire areas had to have all wiring redone and also new complete headlights, also 2 years ago was driving down the highway car stalls out I drift to the edge of the highway attempted several restarts would not restart had it towed and had to replace the fuel pump and relay switch.
Fuel tank collapse, have been having trouble with car at times not starting and even stop running while driving. Ford dealer said the tank has collapsed and needs new fuel tank , fuel pump and valve. Dealer charged $119. 00 to tell the problem and said it would cost 1,200. 00 to repair, so why isn't my car included in the recall? my 19 year old granddaughter, who drives car for school, has been forced to walk or find ride to get to her destination. I hope you can help me, this car problem has been going on about a year and half, Monday we finally found out the reason. What can I do to make Ford accountable.
After multiple issues \recalls with the transmission the car still is not running right. It takes sometime for the vehicle to start and once it does it shudders on acceleration. Now I am being told both the fuel pump and the clutch need to be replaced. Based on everything I am reading there are quite a few faulty parts in these vehicles that should be recalled.
Vehicle would stall out when coming to a stop at red lights, stop signs or hesitate when starting to go. The vehicle would also lose power during normal operation and if it stalled out it would take a few minutes or longer to start, causing traffic issues. Fuel gauge would read 3/4 of a tank and be empty. Took to dealership several times and had computer reset to fix issue but did not fix it. Then another dealership advised they had another Focus with the same issue and had to replace fuel tank, purge valve and fuel pump because the fuel tank had collapsed inward. They checked the fuel tank on my Focus and it had also collapsed inward. Had fuel tank, purge valve and fuel pump replaced and now it runs like it should and gauges work. Was advised that this issue causes the vehicle to into limp mode which causes car to stall. This repair cost me $1586. 02! this is a very serious issue and a hazard to the occupants. This issue has been going on for about the last 4 years and it took this long to discover what was causing it. I've had the vehicle for 5 years now.
"purge valve"-my vehicle was taken into red mccombs Ford due to a p0420 code which is a problem with the catalytic converter. Before the engine light came on, I had not had any performance issues or noticed any problems while driving or idling on any type of road. The car has 79,479 miles and the converter would be covered under the factory warranty. I was told that the converter went out because the purge valve got stuck open which caused severe damage to the fuel tank and fuel pump and that they would not replace the converter until I paid $1,900 to get the other problems fixed. I did not have the money to get the other problems fixed before the factory warranty expired, therefore I will need to pay an additional $1,700 to have the converter replaced once the warranty expires. I was told that the problems with my car could cause it to lose power and leave me stranded on the road. I am concerned that, other than the engine light turning on because of the converter, I would not have known anything was wrong with the car until it could have died on me in the middle of the freeway. I have had so many problems with this vehicle and by the looks of the complaints on NHTSA, there will be many more serious problems to look forward to. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and Ford has done nothing to fix these problems. I am hoping to sell it back to them this weekend. I will never by Ford again.
The rpms on my vehicle kept falling and causing my car to stall and even die in traffic. I took it to a mechanic who told me that there was a problem with my evap sensor, fuel pump and gas tank. The sensor and gas pump are malfunctioning and causing the problem and sucking the plastic gas tank up and into the pump causing my car to die while in traffic. I was driving on a major highway doing 65mph the other day and this happened causing extreme anxiety about the possibility of being rear ended by someone not paying attention. I have looked this up and I am not the only Focus owner with this problem. This problem has been happening off and on for about a year and is starting to happen morevoften and getting more severe.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. When the contact attempted to drive the vehicle, the check engine warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to hawkeye Ford (2027 us-34, red oak, IA 51566) where it was diagnosed with failure codes p144a and p0456. The codes indicated that the evap, purge vent, vent valve, fuel tank, and fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Y 2012 Ford Focus needs a new fuel tank, fuel pump, purge valve and canister per TSB 16-0062. It's because the purge valve was malfunctioning and has collapsed my gas tank (plastic) and I needed to replace the fuel pump, gas tank, fuel tube assembly. All cost $1350. 00. Many others have this problem but it appears that there is no recall on this. This is something that should be addressed as a recall, not an "eff" you to the customer that has to deal w/ a known issue to Ford. When stopped, the vehicle would idle rough. The engine actually died on my daughter who was driving in traffic this past Sunday one of the highways in la. The check engine light came on w/ code p1450. Then the fuel gauge became highly inaccurate, showing a full tank of fuel when I may be at half or lower. Called aaa, my daughter got herself out of the dangerous situation, now my car is being repaired, I have no choice. This is frustrating to see how Ford can get away with this issue - one that seems to be quite serious with many other Ford Focus 2012 owners: https://www. Google. "Ford purge valve" my 2012 Ford Focus was incorrectly diagnosed at longmont Ford for a p0420 fault code. My complaint was a rough idle at times, vehicle dies at times when coming to a stop. (did not state low power at all times nor any engine heating issues) longmont Ford stated a a back-pressure test was performed on the exhaust and the catalytic converter was plugged per dtc p0420. Fortunately I did not have the $1700+ dollar repair performed and looked for additional diagnosis. (no specifications given by longmont Ford to condemn catalytic converter) additional diagnosis found the evap canister purge valve stuck open - note: found Ford has known issues with this valve and at the time of attempting to obtain one for replacement was told they are on national backorder. I believe this known faulty component is a safety issue due to two reasons. 1) can cause vehicle to die in traffic 2) also known to suck the fuel tank closed and damage the fuel pump.
Check engine light came on. Codes indicated something wrong with purge valve and small evap leak. While driving at 55+mph on a 6 lane highway, my car stalled and my battery light and oil light illuminated. Before that happened, car would just rev and then jerk me forward. I was almost hit by multiple vehicles. This is a huge safety issue!! I made it to my mechanic where they informed me that my purge valve got stuck open causing the vacuum system to suck my fuel tank it, also causing it to collapse. My fuel tank, fuel pump, charcoal canister, and purge solenoid all needed replacing. Repairs cost me $1700 out of pocket, not to also mention rental car. This was recalled on Ford fusion. . . Why not Focus?! this could have caused serious injuries or fatalities!! I expect reimbursement for all expenses!!!.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several minutes. After the vehicle was restarted, the check engine indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to brandon Ford (9090 e adamo dr, tampa, FL 33619, (813) 246-3673) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump fractured, which caused the fuel tank to collapse. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
The contact's daughter owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to charlie henderson Ford located 105 us-90, waveland, ms 39576, (228) 467-9005, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that a defective purge valve caused the fuel pump to collapse within the fuel tank. The contact was informed that the fuel canister, purge valve, fuel pump, and fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was presently being repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was provided case number: cas-12778886. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
Inaccurate fuel gauge indication and inaccurate distance to empty. Ended up having to replace evap emmision purge valve, fuel pump, and fuel tank, and canister. Had to replace all parts again 4 months later when my car stop running while I was driving down the highway and this happened to me 3 times.
My vehicle's fuel tank is compressing due to a faulty vacuum purge valve requiring a new tank, fuel pump and purge valve. This issue has caused my vehicle to stall in freeway traffic and in stop and go traffic. The fuel tank is also not accurately reading incorrectly, you are not able to tell how much gas you have with thh indicator. . Ford Focus- 2012, 58k miles.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. While being operated, the vehicle experienced complete loss of power. The vehicle was towed to the robin Ford dealer where it was diagnosed that the purge valve, fuel pump, and fuel tank were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
While driving on the highway my Focus began stalling out very abruptly. I was as if I was slamming on my brakes while cruising on the highway with no notification that it was about to happen. This happened many times and the car would sometimes stall completely or just keep moving. While idling at a stop the rpms would fluctuate rapidly then the car would stall out. I bought this car at 57k miles and at 65k it was diagnosed as the fuel pump which was replaced. Now at 77k miles I am experiencing the same symptoms and they are very dangerous especially on the highway. The manufacturers pump is clearly faulty and it's costing me another $600 to replace for the second time. I have seen many others with this same issue and I'm hoping to see a recall on something this dangerous.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. After stopping at an intersection, the engine turned off. The contact had to start the engine in order to continue driving. The check engine indicator illuminated after the failure. The dealer diagnosed that the fuel tank was deformed, which affected the fuel pump and fuel line. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Incident description: engine stopped and without warning while the transmission was in drive. Engine light came on as the engine ceased running. It happened while the car was in motion, thankfully approaching stop sign. Understand that this also results in the loss of power steering. The car is regularly serviced, well-maintained, and has approx. 94,000 miles. Verdict from Ford dealership mechanic: vacuum purge valve was stuck in the open position. The vacuum force that resulted damaged/warped fuel tank, and damaged the fuel pump. The purge valve, fuel tank, and fuel pump all must be replaced. Cost: the cost of repairs is over $2000, plus towing the car, and the need for my family to get a rental vehicle for a week. Misc: there is no recall for this item and this could prove exceptionally dangerous if it occurred on a highway especially since you lose power steering when the engine dies suddenly.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. It was diagnosed that the fuel pump and fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 107,000.
My 2012 Ford Focus has started to idle rough and stalls occasionally when slowing or stopped. After taking it to the dealer for service they informed me that the canister purge valve had stuck open causing suction in the tank and resulting in the top of the fuel tank to cave in. They said that I needed to have the fuel tank, fuel pump, purge valve and canister replaced for around $2000. This is a known problem with a TSB from Ford however there is no recall so I am forced to pay the dealer to fix the problem. With such a widespread problem Ford should own up to the defect and issue a recall.

June 2016 noticed a significant drop in my average mpg. Took vehicle into dealer who told me the purge valve was stuck open creating excessive vacuum on fuel tank causing the tank to warp and the fuel pump to bend.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the malfunction was due to the fuel tank and fuel pump, which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
My check engine light came on coming home from work Monday night and wensday I took the car to the dealership the dealership the next day and found out that the purge valve was malfunctioning and has collapsed my gas tank and I needed to replace the fuel pump, gas tank, fuel tube assembly. All cost $2000. The service tech stated there has been a lot of complaints about this and Ford refuses to help.
While driving my 2012 Ford Focus hatchback, the check engine light came on and the vehicle idled rough and the engine stopped working. Restarted and took vehicle to dealer. Dealer stated that the emissions control system had pulled a vacuum on the fuel tank causing raw fuel to enter the emissions control system and the engine causing the issues. The tank had to be replaced due to collapse and the evap tank, tubing, control valve and fuel pump. Per Ford TSB 11-09-03. Shouldn't this be a recall?.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while making a left or right turn the vehicle would stalled. The check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that purge valve not opening properly, the fuel pump and purge valve, purge tank and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v605000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 47000. Aw.
Car stalled and lost power while driving, was able to coast into a parking lot. Car would not restart, and had it towed to the dealer. Diagnosed and say the purge valve failed and that they need to replace fuel pump, and tank, for $2k.
On sept 8 2014 I was driving home from work and once I got off the highway I noticed that my car was slowing down and the battery and oil light was on the next thing I knew my car shut off I restarted it and took it to the dealership ( since it is still under warranty ) to get it checked out. The service dept told me that it was the fuel pump and they were ordering the part but that was a lie not only did they not fix the problem it has gotten worse the car runs out of gas even though there is gas in the car it shuts off at slow speeds and the dealership basically told me that a 2 1/2 year car is covered under warranty and told me its going to be 2000. 00 to fix it!! but on the bright side if Ford recalls the part then I could get reimbursed really!!.
