After receiving recall information, regarding recall 18s32, the vehicle was taken to the dealership for repair in mid-November 2018. The dealership advised that the recall was remedied. In may of 2019 the vehicle displayed signs that the issue was not resolved. For example, using excessive amounts of gasoline and emptying the tank while the gauge was showing fuel was present; also, the vehicle would stop moving while engine was still running. After being diagnosed by two different dealerships, the most present diagnosis is that recall 18s32 is the issue and now Ford is refusing to fix the vehicle. The car had to be towed five hours from the location, due to safety concerns, to a dealership who diagnosed that the recall had not been resolved only to be informed that Ford refused to cover the expense of the recall.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while their daughter was operating the vehicle, the vehicle suddenly lost power while in traffic. Their daughter had assistance pushing the vehicle into a nearby gas station. They learned that, as indicated on the recall, the fuel gauge did not accurately read the level of fuel within the vehicle. The contact stated their daughter now makes sure to keep the fuel tank a minimum of half full to avoid the failure reoccurring. The contact then stated that while parallel parked and attempting to move from the park position, they noticed the power steering had failed and the vehicle became difficult to operate. The contact's daughter had taken the vehicle to the dealership (metro Ford chicago located at 6455 s western Ave, chicago, IL 60636 phone number 888-667-9088) who informed them that the vehicle was not covered under the recall or by warranty. The vehicle had not been officially diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, however, they only suggested that the contact have the vehicle repaired and seek out reimbursement if the vehicle was later included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage 62,100. Gl.
The steering wheel locked up and the steering assist came on while I was doing 5 mph . And the fuel tank is being has been deformed because of a vacuum problem with the cap less gas tank. I know that the rest of the 2012 fusion and escape have been recalled, because of the danger of driving down the road and steering will loose controll.
2012 Ford Focus sel hatchback started to develop stutter and stall on low load. Could be under coasting at 60mph or slowing to stop. The revs drop and engine stalls. While coasting, put the car in n and restarted engine. Was ok after that. Ck eng light came on. Pulled codes, replaced evap purge valve and attempting to replace O2 sensor. Unable to remove old one at this point. Cleared code. Ck eng light came back on but car seems to behave like normal. Will have to pull code again. Will be extremely unhappy if fuel tank has collapsed. The gauge started reading faulty but based on refuel dates and miles driven the tank seems to take the appropriate amount of fuel. Ran out of gas with info center stating 10 miles left. Each time the car stalls it has no issue restarting. It only has trouble right after filling up. It cranks for a while. Then it turns over and does fine. Car would also idle at wrong levels. Always used to idle at about 750rpm, which it does again now that evap purge valve has been replaced. Before the evap purge valve replacement the car would feel like it's engine braking when coasting instead of just rolling like a normal automatic. The car hasn't been diagnosed by a dealership yet. It's impossible to make an appointment with local dealerships here.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact stated that the manufacturer made him aware that the vehicle has no warranty for the fuel tank. Two incidents. While driving at a speed of about 25 miles per hour, the vehicle lost power and stalled on an arterial street. Traffic was light, and there was no danger to me or other motorists. The vehicle would not restart. Had the car towed to the dealer, and was told it was out of gas. The gauge had been reading 1/4 full at the time of the incident. The gauge continued to give false readings (moved from lower to higher amounts during the course of exhausting the fuel supply) over the next few weeks. Eventually the dealer diagnosed the fuel tank was warped, and replaced the tank. One week later, while driving the vehicle at night on an interstate highway approaching a major freeway system interchange, at a speed of approximately 60 miles per hour, the vehicle lost power and shut off, causing me to have immediately attempt to move across four lanes of moderately heavy traffic. This happened on a slight uphill incline, so the car lost forward speed very quickly. During the emergency maneuver, I was forced in front of another motorist, nearly causing an accident. The car was exhausted of fuel, but within ten minutes prior had shown a reading of 1/4 tank remaining. Immediately prior to the incident, the gauge needle was actually indicating 1/2 tank.
