Transmission Gear Slipping problems of the 2016 Ford Focus

When pulling off from a standstill the transmission slips and jerks. This problem does,nt happen every time but it appears to be worse when there are passengers in the car. The date below is the last time it happened. Have taken it back to the dealership and they said it did ok when they drove it.

Transmission slips and stalls when increasing speeds or doesnt shift at all. I was on the highway and had to pull off do to it stalled out 4 times note this is an automatic transmission and it slips and stalls or doesnt shift at all. When this started it was at 14000 miles and now its at 16568 miles and its now stalling.

A known defect with the clutch is causing the transmission to slip when switching gears. Ford knows about this defect and yet did not issue a recall/extended warranty for all of the transmissions affected, only some. It's a $1500-$2000 repair and it's ridiculous that we should have to pay for their faulty machinery.

Transmission is slipping. Transmission error messages appear very often.

While driving on the freeway at speeds around 65-70 mph, the transmission slipped into neutral and the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate. Pressing on the gas would rev the engine up to 4-5k rpms. I was able to coast to the shoulder but was terrified of being struck by a large semi truck behind me until I could get to the shoulder. I put the car in park and then re-engaged the transmission and it worked sporadically until I could get to the next exit. I pulled into a parking lot and turned off the car. Turned it back on and the reverse wouldn't engage. I drove the car to the Ford dealership. On the way there, the car would jolt forward in an intersection, only to slip into neutral while in the middle of the intersection. This slipping into neutral happened two or three times on the way to the dealership. Also, when coming to a stop, the gears would shift automatically into a lower gear prematurely which resulted in the vehicle coming to a faster stop than was expected.

Since I purchased my 2016 Ford Focus se the automatic transmission has been slipping, stuttering and high rpms during gear changes but will not accelerate properly. I was attempting to merge from an on-ramp onto a major highway and upon attempting to accelerate to merge the rpms were very high but the car would not accelerate. At this point I am on the highway with traffic gaining at an alarming rate which caused another vehicle to swerve to avoid hitting me from behind. This is not my first encounter with this issue but the first time I actually felt I was in a life threatening situation. This also affects my fuel economy which is a nominal issue as compared to the fact I no longer feel safe with my two children in the vehicle. Step up Ford before there are major accidents due to this issue.

Transmission slipping and rattling when shifting between lower gears.

The transmission slips or stops sudden when driving and is not smooth when stopping . Its hard to control the brake too. Makes noise.

Powershift transmission stutters and slips when starting from a stop and when shifting up to 3rd gear. Very unsafe when making turns in heavy traffic. Been doing this for months, just got around to complaining here. Have not taken to dealer because I am now aware of a widespread problem.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. While driving unknown speeds, the transmission slipped without warning. The vehicle was taken to stillwell Ford Lincoln (3780 w carleton rd, ste m-99 hillsdale, mi 40242) where it was diagnosed that the clutch and seal kit needed to be replaced at 4,000 miles. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While driving 30 mph, the transmission slipped and failed while shifting into first and second gear without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch and seal kit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 40,000.

First problem were the transmission shifting very hard and on a couple of occasions the car would not go into reverse when trying to back out of my driveway. Dealer recoded the transmission. Car is now still shifting very hard, sometimes the rpms will hit 4,000+ before it will hard downshift. Other time I have had to press on the brake to get the rpms down. Also while on cruise control the rpms will also rev to 4,000 when trying to slow down. On a recent trip when I cancelled the cruise control the car actually sped up on two separate occasions. Car continues to shift hard and what other people in the car have described as the transmission slipping. This has been ongoing for almost a year now. Dealer always says they have not heard anyone else complain about the transmission which is funny since I get class action lawsuit mail about every other week about it.

My 2016 and my 2015 Ford Focus has transmission problems. They will not hold a hill and then start to roll backwards if in drive and waiting at a light. The transmission will slip in left or right turns and will also have clutch engaging problems. Both vehicles has been a very troublesome vehicle when it comes to being able to drive forward. I do not trust them when making a left turn when traffic is coming because of the slippage makes it very difficult to be safe.

Transmission slips constantly. Vehicle has a transmission that is manual with clutch plates but operates as automatic. I find it shudders at about 18/19 miles per hours shifting from 1st to 2nd gears. This is hazardous when pulling out into traffic because it is intermittent and you never know if your car is going to go or shudder until it finds the gear. The transmission clutch plates have been replaced once and it has been in twice more for transmission issues. Not what I expected when I purchased a new car and was not told by the dealership that this was the way the transmission worked. Vehicle is less than 3 years old and has been in 3 times for transmission and needs to go again. First issue was 12/12/16, vehicle was 2 months old and has been ongoing.
