1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2025

Something wrong with the transmission the one that Ford extended warranty on and my car is a 2016 and Ford extended it 10 years and they said it ended a few months ago as well as the tcm replacement I didn't know about because I just purchased the vehicle a little over a year ago.

2 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

It is my transmission problem, there is an engine light on and the shifting is very rough and it also jumps gears, I know Ford had a recall for this problem I believe it should be under warranty it is the tcm.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2025

The car failed to start, it did not recognize it was in park. After trying to start my car with the keys it failed. My safety is put at risk, my car failing to recognize which gear shift it is in causes malfunctions while I am on the road, especially since I drive long distances at high speeds. I had a master technician review and preform a diagnostic on my vehicle and the codes formed for this test matched hand in hand with tcm issues under the TSB. After this, I went to the dealership to discuss this issue and the only thing that came of it was informing me that I was not eligible for a recall due to my VIN, even if I have all the symptoms under the TSB for my Ford Focus 2016. Since my car failed to start I was not able to bring it to Ford and have it tested, especially after asking if it is eligible and they insisted that it was not. No warning signs from the dashboard appeared on my vehicle to inform me of this issue. I travelled to meet with family and did not end up using my vehicle for a few days and when I tried to start my car, it would not engage. The only warning sounds I would consider a correlation before the problem would be a clicking from the starter pre-firing when I opened the door, and while the car was off.

7 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2025

Tcm failure, and b clutch going bad, and Ford service team telling me that the a clutch could need to be replaced too. Years 2012-2016 are covered under recall but only certain models with the dual clutch transmission and ones built previous to Nov 2015. I can get documentation of the service done. This is an ongoing issues with many Ford owners, look online and see for yourself. Ford is taking advantage of their consumers claiming they fixed this issue but this is not the case. 93,000 miles on my car and they are telling me a need a rebuild. How many people need to go through this before Ford is held accountable? do the research, I am not the only one. Failure Date: 03/13/2024

The automatic transmission lurches when shifting in any forward gear, most times will not shift at all past 15 mph (engine rpm will red-line), and will not engage the reverse gear at all. When attempting to drive the vehicle, a dashboard warning indicates that the transmission is overheating and the vehicle should be pulled over. The transmission control module was replaced at a Ford dealership in 2020 due to inconsistent shifting of the transmission. Based on the build date of my vehicle, Ford is telling me that it is not covered under their current customer satisfaction program 14m02 - supplement #7. This program describes the very problem my vehicle is experiencing, as the dealership told me their diagnostics indicates the need to replace the tcm (again)!.

12 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2024

My 2016 Ford Focus has encountered repeated transmission and clutch problems associated with the dps6 recall. My car has experienced sudden losses of power, inability to randomly start the car, and even though my car can be put into reverse, it will not back up. Going down the highway, my car will have reluctance to shift and when it does, it shudders severely. These issues have caused myself to feel uncomfortable being on any public roads due to fears the car or clutch will completely fail. Especially when I have my child with me. My car has now officially given out and had to be towed to Ford for evaluation. During evaluation they reported the clutch has gone bad. Even though I had the entire clutch system replaced in 2019. Meaning the transmission has caused two full clutch replacements in 7 years. During inspections and replacements under previous warranties, Ford refuses to address the transmission portion of the problem and will and would only correct the by-product which was the clutch itself. My car has the dps6 transmission from the michigan plant, but my manufacture date was a few weeks after the deadline. The car had the check engine light come on when experiencing power issues. It has been through two complete evaluations through Ford, who only will charge me for clutch replacements. The tcm also had to be recalibrated in 2019 when the clutch was replaced, but they did not replace the tcm itself.

Now, in 2023 and at 79,000 miles, my vehicle exhibits the exact same issues. I have contacted Ford to try and rectify, however they are saying my vehicle is not within any customer program/recall as it was built in April 2016 (the original scope only covered Focus' up to November 2015). I can 100% attest that, after 3 years/20,000 miles since the repair to transmission and tcm was made, this car is exhibiting the same transmission slip issues that now make it extremely dangerous to drive.

30 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2022

I recently became the owner of this car as my dad had it for the past 5 years. My dad previously inquired about the car shuddering/vibrating when accelerating at times (in 2021) and the dealership was either unaware or dishonest in replying that it just had to do with way the plastic protecting the bottom of the car rattles. We did not know about the Ford nationwide settlement for 2012-2016 Ford Focuses at the time or that others were having similar preliminary issues with the transmission/clutch so we continued to use the car thinking it was just a normal issue with no safety problems. I went for my regularly scheduled oil & filter change at the koons silver spring Ford dealership (maryland) on Tuesday 10/11. They also completed a complimentary 27 point inspection and told me my car was fine except for a small coolant leak I should get fixed within the year. The next day, my car struggled to accelerate after stopping at a red light. This was an intersection where the speed limit was 35 mph and the most I could go was 15 mph with a lot of effort from my car. My rpm meter kept fluctuating from 1 to 4 even if I wasn't stepping on the accelerator. I turned on my safety blinkers to inform other cars that I was having issues and my car eventually came to a complete stop. I had to call for help and put the car in neutral in order to get it to my parking garage. This could have been a very dangerous situation if I was on the highway. The dealership is about 20 minutes from my place so the next morning I went to local mechanics that helped me to read the cel codes. I have provided a picture of the codes. They are all tcm-clutch related errors. My car very unexpectedly stopped functioning and the dealership/corporate says I'm not covered by the Ford customer satisfaction action that was supposed to fix the tcm issues for free. Please help me as I cannot afford to fix my car at this time with such an unexpected issue at only 38,000 miles.
