The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the transmission shuddered between shifting gears. No waring light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a letter he received from Ford for the repair of the clutch assembly and hardware, and the replacement of the clutch modulator. The contact stated that the repair was not due to a recall. The vehicle was taken to the northgate Ford (8940 colerain Ave, cincinnati, OH 45251), and the contact was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty for the repair of the transmission clutch and he had to pay out of pocket for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 79,552.
The purge canister valve had a safety recall last year, which the dealership stated they performed and marked the recall as completed. However, the part was never replaced, and is in fact defective. When filling the car with gas, it does not want to start and stalls out multiple times. When it does start, it runs rough for about ten minutes. The dealership is refusing to fix the issue without charging me, despite the fact they never replaced the part. They also refuse to repair the transmission shudder that is a known issue because it's no longer under warranty, even though they said that Ford was covering that issue up to 100,000 miles.
Faulty transmission causes car to shake or jerk when accelerating from a complete stop. Ford has reset computer 3 times now and the problem still continues. Vehicle also accelerated on it's own while at a complete stop. Ford will do nothing but complete a computer rest to fix the issue.
Transmission shudders after car warms up lack of power when accelerating.
Transmission shudder issues that every other 2016 or older Ford Focus has but for some reason mine is not covered by the extended warranty.
Automatic transmission shuddering while accelerating in 1st and 2nd gears. Transmission actually completely cuts out occasionally, forcing the car to lurch backward somewhat until the transmission engages again. High rpm levels at shift points between 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. Definitely a safety issue, as there have been and will continue to be times that I try to accelerate to get up to appropriate speed, but the car takes too long to be able to get up to highway speeds. Articles are saying 2012 to 2016 Focus are affected, yet there is no transmission recall on my 2016? the issues did not go away!.
Car has shuddered and failed to properly accelerate which started within a few weeks of buying the vehicle new. The shuddering of the transmission sounds like rattling and that the car is going to stall when it is a automatic vehicle. The car is shuddering often from stops to accelerations, feels like the car is trying to grip into the next gear and is a safety concern. I have personally had my clutch replaced by Ford 2 times and I have only owned the vehicle for a little over 2 years. To get Ford to replace the clutch is a huge headache. For months when I would take the vehicle in due to this safety compliant they would say that the shuddering transmission is within normal limits and refuse to fix it under the warranty. I also tried to contact the corporate headquarters to get it fixed and no results there either. For the most recent repair I had to really fight the service center to drive it and get it replaced upon failing their diagnostic tests. Car also has a rough idle which has resulted in the motor mount being replaced. Car is low mileage and a 2016. It is truly a safety issue because when the shuddering occurs the car fails to accelerate to a safe speed timely.
The transmission on my car will commonly shudder when shifting in lower gears, frequently creating an unsafe lag in moments where quick acceleration is required. The problem becomes more pronounced as the period of continuous or near-continuous use increases. It is my understanding that, at present, the transmission is not shuddering enough to warrant a repair under the terms of my warrantee, however I believe that is due to my continual adjustment to driving style to accommodate this unsafe situation. I don't believe it's prudent for me to exacerbate the situation at the risk of my family's safety in order to qualify for repair at the manufacturer's expense. The shuddering itself can range from a light flutter to a complete disengagement of the clutch for a second or two. At highway speeds, that amount of time is unacceptable. To me, it feels as though the software is attempting to decide and actuate a desired gear ratio, but doing so in a timeframe that is far longer than what it would take me to do so in a manual transmission. Additionally, some engagement mechanism or program frequently misjudges the engagement of the clutch, resulting in mechanical abnormality ranging from a flutter to a shudder to a loud and forceful knocking as it attempts to engage. The odd behavior is most pronounced when shifting between first, second, or third gear. Occasional but very alarming disengagement of the clutch can occur at highway speeds. Turning can seem to exacerbate the problem.
Vehicle stutters and has trouble accelerating/staying in gear after coming to a stop or slowing down and starting movement again multiple times a day. Sounds like transmission is grinding daily when accelerating after being at a stop, or slowing down. Vehicle drops gears randomly while maintaining speed highway speeds. Made right hand turn out and even with the accelerator floored vehicle did not accelerate until almost rear ended when care just took off almost uncontrollably, was like it was in neutral gear and was just rolling for just under a quarter mile on city streets. Even felt like the vehicle might of been slowing down.
2016 Ford Focus. Consumer writes in regards to brake and transmission issues with vehicle. The consumer stated the brake pads were prematurely worn. The transmission would shudder/clank and did not shift properly. It has been to the dealer four times due to this failure.
The transmission sputters and shakes and makes a grinding noise. I am fearful that it is going to fail and cause a severe accident injuring myself or someone else. This is a ongoing problem. The dealer said this is normal for this car. I first took it in around 17,000 miles. It is only getting worse. The dealer initially told me that Ford was aware of this problem and would fix it. Now they will not honor there word and say it is out of warranty.
The transmission shudders when trying to accelerate. The car jerks and sputters so bad that for fear of getting in a collision we have to wait for all traffic to clear when making a left turn at an intersection. Very unsafe for my family! I was not this bad on the test drive and the sales man told it the clutch plates needed to be broken in!.
At about 20,000 miles, the dps6 transmission started shuddering and vibrating during acceleration. It got progressively worse, and at 21,988 miles, on 6/12/2019, I took it to the dealer from whom I had purchased the car new on 6/20/2016. A technician performed labor code #160109a. He then noted, "found some clutch shudder still present but fewer than 250 rpm, ok per Ford. " after I complained, the service manager sent me a letter offering me a free oil change (which I declined). Today, 7/17/2019, at 21,988 miles, the transmission is still shuddering. I am waiting to see what happens on the Ford Focus/fiesta transmission settlement. My claim id no. On this settlement is 10612086.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle accelerated on its own after the contact's foot was removed from the accelerator pedal. Also, the vehicle rolled backwards and the transmission slipped and shuddered when switching gears. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to blonnell Ford (353 cambridge st, winchester, MA 01890) where the transmission was serviced; however, the other failures were not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 35,000. The VIN was unknown.
The transmission slips and shudders when starting from a complete stop and accelerating after slowing down on a city street.
Vehicle fuel gauge is off by 50 miles + - 10 miles. Vehicle stalls after filling fuel take to full level. Engine check light stays on solid after the first time the vehicle ran out of gas. Transmission is loud and grinds when making turns and has a jerking motion when increasing and decreasing speed.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while the driver was driving, the transmission was shaking violently when accelerated, and failed to go forward. The contact also stated that the vehicle would slipp when switching gears and the transmission would slam. No warning indicator lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to vachon Ford dealer, (455 providence rd, brooklyn, CT 06234, (860) 774-3673) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN and provided a case number: 24492522. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Aw.
My 2016 Ford Focus & its "powershift" transmission shudders when accelerating. On Thursday oct. 4, 2018 while driving on the freeway the car shuttered then stalled as I was attempting to accelerate. I purchased the car at the end of January 2018, brand new and have put 29,537 miles on it. I am being told that the clutch system will need to be replaced and it is currently in the shop. I previously owned the 2012 Ford Focus which had a similar issue and had to have the chip associated with this transmission replaced numerous times. While the sales staff told me this issue was resolved and the newer transmissions do not have the same problem, I have been told by the service department that the issue with the 2012 Ford Focus transmission was never resolved and this is the same issue. I consider this incredibly unsafe as my 2012 broke down numerous times in traffic and on freeways, leaving me stranded until it decided to "reengage" and allow the car to go in a forward motion. Thankfully I was able to get to the shoulder each time and wait for the transmission to reengage so I could get it to the dealership for diagnostics. If the 2016 transmission has the same issue, I am concerned that eventually it to will leave me or some other driver on the side of the road or worse stall while at a high rate of speed causing an accident.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. While driving various speeds on several occasions, the transmission shuddered, slipped, and lost power. The contact stated that the vehicle never stalled. The vehicle was taken to randall reed's planet Ford (located at 19000 eastex fwy, humble, TX 77338, (866) 844-5995) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the electronics in the transmission failed and a software update was needed. The software was updated, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v845000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
Automatic transmission shakes and slips when accelerating from a stop or when trying to accelerate after slowing below 3rd gear. Once the transmission fully engages it does so with force and jolts the car forward. This has happened on inclines, declines and flat roads while in city street conditions. It has not been taken to the dealer due to research has revealed Ford has no real fix for the issue and will only re-flash the transmission programing in an attempt to remedy a mechanical problem. I started encountering this problem at about 10,000 miles and I am the first owner.
1) transmission shuddering on startup (@ 2000 miles), 2) we took the car to a Ford dealer at 3000 miles and were told the transmission tested within acceptable Ford limits. Wtf? 3) now transmission fails to engage during acceleration from a standing start - engine revs and then takes off unexpectedly (@ 4000 miles).
Transmission shudders, shakes, bangs, mis-shifts, etc. While driving; mostly during up or down shifts. This is dangerous. Dealer romano Ford in fayetteville, NY has given up; we all know there is no repair.
At 400 miles the car had a transmission overheat a warning light came on that said transmission over heating pull over wait 5 minutes going slowly up a slight incline in traffic. I have also noticed the transmission does not downshift as the vehicle speed declines and the transmission has a grinding noise in the casing when turning and when the transmission does not downshift.
Transmission shudders upon take off , and funny noise on bottom end of vehicle. Seems to have no acceleration between 1st & 2nd gear.
"takata recall" there is a rattling noise while driving, along with vibration and transmission shudder in second gear. The car feels like it wants to give out. There is also a grinding noise while breaking and turning. All of the concerns mentioned are while driving regardless of city street or highway. The rattling noise will sometimes occur while the car is off and parked, especially right after shutting the car off.
From a stop, when pressing the gas pedal the transmission starts shuddering and excessive vibration that shakes the whole car, also will not pickup speed so pulling out into traffic is dangerous , this car is dangerous to drive. My wife refuses to drive this car. 2016 Ford Focus se with only15000 miles on it. . . . . Please help.
Transmission shudders, hesitates, and vibrates when accelerating from a stop and shifting between first and second gear. This is an automatic transmission. Sometimes the car will not accelerate quick enough so it can be dangerous when pulling into an intersection with moving cars. Ford says that it is normal. The car vibrates so bad my comatose kids (always on phone) even mention why the car feels so shaky. For a new car it is unacceptable. I have a 12 year old car that is much smoother than this and it is worth $1200. Not to mention safer.
I was driving on my way home, and my car stalled in the middle of the road. I had to throw the car in neutral and crank it back up and slam it into drive and speed off, because I was going to get hit both directions. The transmission shudders hard in between gears, stalls out on hills/ struggles on hills, it fails to accelerate in the moment, the car fails to know what gear it wants to be in. That's just the beginning. I live in the city a small area not very populated but I still deal with stop and go traffic the transmission jerks hard if you don't start moving at a steady pace. The highway though it does relatively well, but that's when other problems start I have loss of power at times while in cruise control, it will bounce back and fourth like I have bad gas or something, it also has a very bad glitch with the windshield wipers (they hit each other). I have had the upmost problems with this car primarily the transmission, but that's not all folks. I do however feel this car is such a safety hazard to people, I have a "dont buy a Focus" sticker going down both sides of my cars windows. I'm stuck with this car because of credit issues so I'm going to let everyone know my story if I can save them having problems not even a year after buying this brand new Focus. All Ford had to say is it's a clutch problem if completely safe. That's even when I told them I didn't feel safe and I didn't want to drive it till they did something about it. I'm not on transmission clutch set #5 I've dealt with so much lost time because of this matter and Ford should be held completely responsible. Start date for the problems is the day I bought the car. Dont buy a Focus!!!!.
