1 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2020

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving, the vehicle shifts randomly from first to second gear then starts to shudder. The contact mentioned that while his daughter was making a right turn into traffic, the transmission shudders, the driver led off her foot off the accelerator pedal and nearly got hit by other upcoming vehicles with her child in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to chapman Ford, 1255 columbus Ave, marysville, OH 43040, and was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. The dealer called Ford manufacturer and was informed that the range was not within the parameter for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The VIN was not available.

2 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2020

The car was fully stopped at a red light on a state numbered highway. I put the car into 1st gear (manual transmission) as usual and got the car moving. When shifting from 1st to 2nd the clutch pedal got stuck fully engaged to the floor, not allowing me to put the car in gear and keep moving. I was able to force the clutch to disengage after a few seconds and get the car into 2nd gear. The same issue happened again going from 2nd to 3rd. The clutch was burned in the process of trying to get the car moving up to speed and it took the entire night for the smell to dissipate. I was able to get home after that and took the car to the dealership the following morning. Since the dealer cannot recreate the issue, they will not do anything further than a diagnostic check.

3 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2019

The transmission skips, lunges, and does not shift well. It has been in for transmission flash and automatic transmission clutch rebuild at 19,000 miles. Was in for check and trans flash at 29,000 miles week of June 27th 2019. Was in today, July 16 for check because it operated worse after it was looked at three weeks ago. The service manager says clutch has to be rebuilt/replaced again. . . It has about 30,000 miles on it. This is a safety problem as we cannot trust the vehicle to get out of the way or move properly when gas pedal is put down. Ford knew about this problem for years and still sold defective vehicles.

4 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

When driving, in between shifts the rpms will rise while the gas pedal is released and the clutch pedal is engaged. Creating a "stuck" gas pedal creating the drivers to either shift and risk more tear to their clutch, or wait to release the clutch till the engine rpms finally drop for a smooth shift. The Ford dealerships say this is normal, but engine rpms should not increase while the clutch is engaged and the gas pedal is released. This happens at all times, inching forward to pull into a garage, highway speeds or city speeds. I have a 2017 Focus st st2 with 11,700 miles.

5 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus rs. The contact stated that that while stationary, the clutch pedal was depressed and traveled to the floor. The contact also mentioned that in order to get the vehicle to work normally the clutch had to get manually pulled back up. The vehicle was taken to klaben Ford Lincoln, inc. 1089 w main st, kent, OH 44240 (330) 673-3139 where they informed the contact that the master cylinder and clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,026. Dr.

6 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2018

Clutch pedal stuck to the floor for the second time when driving. Was driving about 46 mph and shifted to 5th gear and the clutch went half way to the floor without returning. . . Tried to press it in again and it went all the way to the floor and stayed. Had to pull over and pop car out of 5th gear and could no longer move again. Having car towed in and Ford will look at car for the second time. This was very dangerous again because cars were behind me tailgating and I could have been hit when pulling over without any power to move out of the way. Please please check into this ASAP. Countless other Focus rs owners have had the same issue!.
