2001 Ford Focus, front strut spring broke in 2 places. I just got in the car and it sounded like a rifle shot went off. . . . Started to drive off and stopped for the 'clunking' sound. Drove to near by repair shop, said the trouble was the spring. Checked recalls, in case. . . 2000 models had recall for spring breakage, but not the 2001 models. Have written to Ford and am submitting vehicle info tomorrow for consideration.

Spring broke on front end of car- shredded tire that isn't even a year old. Mechanic informed me he had the same year & model of car with same problem. I asked if a recall was issued he said he could not locate any.
2007 Focus 3 door ses purchased new in 11-06. Began noticing minor steering wheel vibrations after 6 months and dealer had rotated tires at 8k miles. At 14 months and 17k miles the steering wheel vibration became unacceptable. Dealer did a front alignment after telling me the wheels were way out of spec. The pirelli p6 original tires are now severely worn in misalignment patterns and must be replaced. Very disappointed. If you own a Focus and have any unusual feel in the steering and handling, get it checked ASAP.
The strut and spring of my 2000 Ford Focus broke and needed to be replaced. I was lucky that I was just in a parking lot because I would have lost control of the car at higher speeds.
: the contact stated the vehicle drifted to the right while driving over 30 mph. The vehicle has been to the dealer on four occasions for this problem. On three occasions the dealer was unable to determine any problems. The fourth occasion the vehicle's front end was realigned however this did not correct the problem.

: the contact stated, while driving over a bump in the road, at 45 mph, the suspension failed, causing the wheel to bend on impact with the road. The bent wheel and all shocks were replaced. The dealer informed the contact of a service bulletin concerning the suspension directing the dealer to replace springs only if broken. When the manufacture was contacted, replacement springs were offered at cost.
Yesterday morning as I was backing out of my driveway I heard a clunk in the front end of my Ford Focus and when I drove the car pulled to the left. I drove my car to the dealership about 3 miles away. After explaining the problem to the service rep he told me it might be a spring failure that is covered by a recall. I was surprised I had not been notified of this recall and he told me they only do something about it if the consumer complains! this is crazy! what if I had been going 70 mph when the spring broke? this is the second recall I haven't been notified about this year. Earlier is was a fuel pump that failed causing the car to lose acceleration, this time as I was driving 70 miles an hour! the part was replaced free of charge as it was covered by the recall.
My car a 2000 Ford Focus had a front spring break in (2) places causing damage to the strut and the car was not safe to drive. I took it to a local goodyear store and had both springs and struts replaced along with a front end alignment. The cost was $800 for all. I have saved the springs to return for examination. Both springs have a sleeve on them about (6)inches at the top and bottom. The area around the sleeve has collected dirt and caused corrosion (rust) to eat through the spring to the point it breaks. This could very well be a safety issue depending on how fast you were driving when it occurs. I was going 25 in a residential area when it broke. I would log to log this complaint as I am sure from looking at the defective parts that others will also be experiencing the same damage. I have owned the car for about 6 years. Please let me know how I should proceed. I can provide pictures if desired. Regards gary young.
2000 Ford Focus. The consumer complained about the rear tires wearing out on February 12, 2003. Bought two new tires for the rear. The next day I had a four wheel tire alignment. March 31, 2003 two more new tires blew out, and on September 23, 2003 was having problem with alignment, two tires were replaced. The tire company said rear end was out alignment and then went to the dealership and had a four wheel alignment again. In November or December 2003 a new set of four new tires were bought. Then, in June 2004 two new tires were bought. The consumer went to a new tire company and it took them four times of driving consumer's car to get it aligned. Was looking on the internet about recalls and I found information on silent vehicle recall. Called the manufacturer about this silent recall, they said they could not assist consumer on this silent recall. Then ,called Ford world headquarters, they were still not telling anything on this silent recall. Consume r found TSB 03135 on a canadian website but could not pull up any information.
'05 Ford Focus zxw. Vehicle less than 2 weeks old. In shop 4th time for vibration in front end and pulling to right. Dealer replaced 1 front tire, balanced all 4, changed camber angle and re-aligned steering wheel. Car still vibrates at 65 and now pulls to left. Back to dealer again for 5th time. Appears to originate from right front. Will press for strut and suspension inspection.

Consumer's husband did not sustain any injury because air bags deployed.
2002 Ford Focus, 48,000 miles and I am now on my third set of tires on the front. Car suspension in front is very loose, expecially during highway driving, through small puddles of water car seems to hydro-plane, and on ice or snow. The car at times seems to be all over the road and I feel it is unsafe to drive. I have had new brakes, tires, and aliagnment, and the struts checks, and the rpoblem still exists and seems to be getting worse. Please advise.
Front end made a very loud clanging noise lasted about 10 minutes, pulled off highway looked under vehicle could not see anything wrong, on several occasions while driving between 55-65 mph car would jerk very bad, dealer could not solve or find a problem, vehicle at repair shop now.

Front end shimmies and pulls to the left at speed of 70 mph and faster. If vehicle isn't serviced immediately the problem will progress and occur at lower speeds. Dealership balanced and rotated the tires several times, and replaced all 4 tires twice. This only provides a temporary solution because the problem recurs.
While driving at 35/40 mph , vehicle pulled sharply to the right. Consumer lost control of vehicle, which resulted in an accident. The dealership indicated that this was caused by the entire right front suspension separating from the vehicle which included the axle, tie rod, and wheels. Please provide more details. Ts.
