39 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/09/2004

From what I can understand about recalls on Ford Focus models, there has been a recall on the issues of wheel bearings. The last time I visited a Ford dealership for service this recall was not mentioned as needing to be done or as taken care of on the service ticket, so I assumed that the problem was taken care of. However, on a visit to my local mechanic, he told me that I would need new wheel bearings in the near future. So from this I can only assume that the problem was taken care of once and now has to be taken care of again. And this is on a vehicle with only 73,000 miles. The vehicle is 2000 Focus zx3 5 speed. Also the vehicle was bought used in Dec. 2003 with 49,000 miles on the odom. Thank you for your time.

Left rear bearings are howling, there has been a recall on cars made at the wayne stamping plant where my car was made, and in the time frame my car was made. I never recieved a recall notice. I have called the dealer and there are unwilling to repair at their cost. In many other states Ford replaces the wheel bearings. The result of a non-repair is the the wheel seperating from the car. I am petitioning to have my car included in the recall. 2000 Ford Focus VIN # 1fafp3636yw309172.

43 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 06/03/2004

I own a 2000 Ford Focus that is 3 1/2 years old and has defective rear wheel bearings. They were replaced 2 timse on the rear left and 1 time on the right rear while under warranty. June 3rd the rear wheel bearing started making a noise so took it to a garage where they said I had bad rear wheel bearing and I immediately took it to hagerstown Ford who confirmed on June 4th 2004 that both rear bearing were bad and that it was no longer covered under warranty. I could have lost both wheels and been in a serious accident and these parts have been known to be defective on this model. Ford would not cover the repair and this car has according to their record had 3 left rear bearings replaced and 2 rear right bearings replaced by Ford. How can they keep putting defective parts that are a safety issue on cars and not take responsibility for it .

44 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2001 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 04/09/2004

As I was driving my 2001 Ford Focus zx3, my tail end started to sway out from underneath me. Then I noticed a loud noise from the rear of my vehicle. I then pulled over to inspect the situation and noticed my wheel bearing was not secured properly. Then I went online and researched Ford Focus recalls and discovered there to be one on this issue. I attempted to contact pat & dan's delbalso Ford dealership in kingston, PA. They referred me to Ford's service department. After speaking to Ford, I made a return call to delbalso Ford and they scheduled an appointment for me. They made me wait about a week for the appointment and they morning of, I made a call for them to get my car when the service manager told me that they would not help me. As a result I have been unable to get to college which is about 20 to 30 miles away from my home. Additionally, I have missed work because of this as well. I made multiple attempts to have my problem resolved by contacting the Ford manufacturers' service department. They told me that their recall had been cancelled. They went on to say that they were just being "nice" and assisting their customers by performing the "warranty program" and that the original owner of the car recieved acknowledgement of the program. I was under the impression that when ownership changes and all warranty information is sent to the manufacturer, the manufacturer was liable for all recall information to be sent out. I was never mailed nor been contacted about this warranty program since I have owned my vehicle. I feel that I have been wronged and should not have to suffer because of it. The people at Ford motor CO. Have been very rude and obnoxious over the fact that they are "exempt" from assisting me with my problems. I feel since I was never informed of the program that they should be mandated to help me. When I was driving I could have been severly injured because of their product failure that they knew of and could have prevented.

I will need to return my vehicle to the former mechanic for service but will be unable to do so until 11-15-03. Please advise the process for filing complaint against Ford motor company - so I can recover my expenses. The mechanic will give me the defective part.
