12 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/30/2002

I have had numerous problems with my 2000 Focus. Ford has not been willing to fix any problem due to the fact that I'm out of my warranty. My power steering switch has went out 2 times and when I take it back now there telling me it wasn't the switch, its the pump. Since that's out of warranty they can't refund my money or anything. Ford has a recall on left wheel bearings, but I had to pay for mine to be done, because the recall was in 2001 and my bearings did not go bad until 2002. There is too many things wrong with the Ford Focus. I have never seen a car in which I had to fix every 5 months. The current issue is that the car is stalling. In idle it will get a point where it will cut off. When shifting to different gears, it hesitates. The car is shaking like it will eventually cut off. It has cut off 3 times and the emission/engine light came on. Dt.

13 Fuel Injection problem of the 2001 Ford Focus

The car initially stalled upon starting in may of 2002. The dealer was contacted and a new fuel pump was placed on the vehicle. The vehicle was then driven until October of 2002, at that time, it stalled in slow traffic two times in one day. The dealer was contacted and a second fuel pump was placed on the vehicle. Approximately one week later, while traveling at 70 mph, passing a semi-tractor trailer on the interstate, the car stalled. It took 15 minutes to restart and was driven immediately to the Ford dealer. The car was in the shop from October 24th until Nov 12, 2002. At that time, they were unable to duplicate the failure, they then placed another fuel pump on the car and removed the gas tank. Contamination was found in the fuel tank. It was cleaned and a new screen placed on the car. On November 4, 2002, the service manager contacted me and said that he could not find the problem. Two days later I read the odi resume on the Ford Focus investigation ea02-02 basis pe02-040. Dt.

19 Fuel Injection problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/01/2001

This problem started happening around 12,000 miles, and while this form asks for a failure date, it does it so much it is hard to say, I put an approximate date of the worst occurrence because of the problem. I realize there is already an investigation about this, I just wanted to add another testimony. When the fuel tank is less than half full, and the car takes right-turns, especially long, sweeping turns, such as highway entrance/exit ramps, the car will jerk and lurch violently, refusing to accelerate, and will stall if provoked enough. If I back off the gas, it recovers, but twice it has completely stalled out, refusing to turn back on for a few hours, one of these times was in heavy highway traffic, I coasted at about 25mph since it would not accelerate, then it eventually died. This particular incident, my dealer filled the tank with gas (which does not allow for the problem to occur, kind of stupid of them), and then drove it around, but would not allow me to show them how to replicate the problem. I must now keep my gas tank more than half full, because of the dangers in getting on and off the highway. It even does it around town now, at times. . Read more...
