1 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

My car when at idle or driving at low rpm (900-2000) will stall out and not start for a while. I've replaced fuel pressure sensors and the injection pump, and it still stalling.

2 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/03/2018

When trying to accelerate, the vehicle will make a sort of stuttering, or have a delay in acceleration. Sometimes I notice the rpms increasing without reason, almost as if it skips shifting maybe or has a delayed shift? I have not tried in "sport" mode to see if manually shifting solves the problem. I also have not been able to identify any other common things, such as a certain fuel level, internal or external temperature, or rate of intended acceleration, though I would not rule out anything. I have noticed this happening both in town driving and highway driving, the delay in acceleration or stuttering. There is also a distinct shudder that happens occasionally. I am not sure if it is an issue with fuel (flooding maybe? or a delay in fuel injection?) or an issue with the power train (any issue in the transmission with shifting?) or maybe an issue in speed control (a missed connection between the accelerator pedal or throttle control cables and the next step in the chain?). I just know that sometimes I need to accelerate to get in a spot in a line of traffic and when the car doesn't 'go' when I need it to and it shudders or has a stutter or delay, it causes the car I was getting in front of to have to brake and if they don't, then my children in the back seat are put at risk. This has happened multiple times, not just the date indicated.

3 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/30/2012

My performance concern started within the first week of ownership. I had reported what I perceived as a performance issue to the dealer but opted to give a new car time to "break in". 4 weeks into my owner experience, the service department held and drove the car for 5 days and had determined that a transmission component was the cause of the issue I was experiencing. I now have over 10k miles on the vehicle and have had the same experience. The service department has since told me that the rough idle in park or in gear with brake applied is the result of the "direct injection" technology used in this vehicle. The hesitation experienced during 0 to >0 acceleration (gradual or hard) is also the result of the "direct injection" technology coupled with electronic clutch technology used in place of a torque converter. This combination has yielded numerous "almost stalled" conditions during normal driving manuvers including acceleration during the completion of a left turn crossing oncoming lanes of traffic. I raise this concern as I understand there is an investigation of f150 vehicles with "direct injection" technology as a potential cause for the loss of power. My experience with the Ford Focus has not resulted in an accident. My goal is to raise awareness to a similar condition from the same manufacturer utilizing the same technology. I also have a second vehicle (1fadp3f20dl206792) that is leased and has the same performance issue described above.
