1 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2015 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 11/22/2018

On Thursday evening, 11/22/2018, I was coming to a stop at a light on a city street (speed limit 35) when my car stalled without warning. Moving at most 25 mph when it occurred, the oil and battery lights came on as I slowed. I tried accelerating slightly to diagnose the issue, and nothing happened. I attempted to pull into the left turn lane (mostly out of traffic) but found my power steering was compromised. I turned on my hazards, parked, and turned off the car, waited 5 seconds, and restarted the car with no trouble. I was shaken, but thankfully no damage to the car or injuries to myself or others. 2 weeks prior to the stall, I had my transmission serviced, and I was made aware of Ford manufacturer recall number 18s32 and that my car was one of the affected. When my check engine light came on a week after service, error code p2195 (bank 1/sensor 1 lean) came up, and then went away. I was told it was still safe to drive and continued to do so. I was on my way to my parents' house for thanksgiving with the intent to stay overnight and have my dad work on the car in the morning when the car stalled with a 3/4 full tank of gas, despite Ford's advice that the car should be safe to operate with more than a half tank. My air filter was replaced, and 5 days later the engine light comes on again, same code. I scheduled service with Ford, and they verified that the engine code and the stall are related to the recall.

2 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/10/2018

Many people are aware of the transmission control module problem with the 2013 Ford Focus that has been recalled. However, I have had another problem with my Ford Focus that I researched and found that many more people are having the same or similar problem with their fuel tank collapsing and needing to replace most of the components in the entire fuel system. I had the purge valve replaced as an out of pocket expense as my extended warranty has expired, hoping this would fix the problem. I was informed by the mechanic that to fix my car completely, it would most likely need a new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel line and of course the purge valve ( which I had replaced ). My car is only 5 years old and I do not know how or why I need to replace the entire fuel system. I have seen many posts describing the same situation on carcomplaints. Com and know of someone locally who I know personally who has the exact same problem with their 2013 Ford Focus. When driving, my engine will shut off completely. From time to time, my oil light will come on as my engine stalls out and tries to 'die' and I can press the gas to 'revive' the engine and keep it from shutting off. This repair of the fuel system was estimated to cost $2,000 to repair and I just don't have it. I listed my car online for $5,400 as is and have no one interested in it at that price after I've invested nearly $20,000 in this car in the 4 years I've been making payments, maintenance and repairs on it. I've also had the power steering replaced on this vehicle when I had around 80,000 miles on it. The power steering failed while in motion and almost caused an accident. This particular vehicle is a dangerous one. Buyer beware.

3 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

Vehicle stalls while driving, rpms drop and car loses power. Check engine light, error code says check gas cap (there isn't one). Vacuum effect so strong that it is difficult to add gasoline to vehicle. Wildly varying gas gauge readings. Dealer diagnostic reveals failed purge valve has resulted in collapsed gas tank and damaged fuel pump. Multiple occasions vehicle stalled was in motion and while stopped.

4 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2015 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 01/19/2018

While attempting to refuel the vehicle at a service station, I noticed gas leaking onto the pavement coming from underniegh the right rear wheel well. As I further investigated the problem I could see gas draining down from the fuel pipe that leads into the gas tank. I didn't want to try and start the vehicle in fear that the gas might reach the hot exhaust system and catch on fire. I had it towed to the nearest Ford dealership who confirmed that the gas fueler pipe had indeed broke and repaired it under warranty.

5 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 04/18/2014

I got my car started and pulled out of the parking space I was in and parallel with the street I was planning on pulling out into when the engine cut out on me. Fortunately I had not pulled into the street as I had planned when the engine quit on me. I kept trying to start the car and it seemed like the car would be about to start with just another second or two more as the starter was turning. The fuel gauge kept lighting up along with other lights though I had 3/4 of a tank of gas. I had to have the car towed Friday evening to the dealership and after they had my car for 4 whole working days, at about 11 am on the following Friday they finally figured out what was wrong with my car. I have a platinum warranty and at roughly 43,000 miles the dealership is going to charge me nearly $1700 for fuel filter, fuel pump and emissions in addition to the rental car I've been paying out of my pocket while they figure out what is wrong with the car, order parts, (the parts to take 3 days) and fix the car. I think this is very unreasonable for a car of so low mileage and could have gotten me injured or killed if I had pulled out into the street and the light changed when the car quit on me.

6 Other Fuel System Hoses Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/19/2012

The problem started about 2 months after the purchase of my car. With the low fuel light on I filled my gas tank until the handle/nozzle of the gas pump clicked off indicating the tank was full. When I removed the nozzle from the fill tube you can hear a rush of gas come up and then a splash as the gas hits the ground. It ejects the gas underneath the car alongside the right rear tire leaving an 8" wet spot. My concern is you have hot brakes and a hot muffler right there next to where the fuel is dumping on the ground. In my honest opinion this is a major fire hazard. I now will not fill up my tank with anyone in the car. I have brought it to the dealers attention on several occasions and they say they have found nothing wrong. It has happened to me three times. Two times before the dealer investigated it and found nothing wrong and one time after. I spoke with the dealers finance manager who owns/leases a Ford fusion and he stated it had happened to him on his car as well. Ford has a new fuel filler system that does not use a cap anymore. It would appear that this system may be faulty by design.
