Power to dashboard went off, no exterior lights including head lights, tail lights, brake lights, flashers, speedometer, directional s. The only thing that worked was the ac. Car was stationary. This is the second time this occurred. If this had happened while driving, it could have created a hazardous situation for me and other motorists.

One afternoon I got in my car went to make a right turn and my blinker was blinking faster then normal. That night I was pulled over because I had no brake light on the right side nor did I have a blinker. The next following day I got to looking at my tail light to change it to my surprise my tail lights was I tapped the light cover and the lights went out the bulb was black. I checked to make sure my control knob was on the ofd position which it was. The head lights would only come on if I turned to control to on poistion. I have owned this car for 5 years now I have never replaced the left side head or tail light but I have changed to right side twice.

The rear tail lights are subject to a "brake lamp bulb fault" due to the shoddy wiring and wiring harness that affixes the wires to the trunk lid. After many open and close iterations of the trunk lid, wires become brittle and fray, and eventually fault. The problem is widespread throughout the forums with many individuals resorting to cutting the cables and resoldering or reattaching them with reduced wire tension. This is a major problem and can cause potential rear end accidents when the brake and tail lights fail to illuminate. The fault appears as soon as the car turns on, and can sporadically go away when driving. As sporadically as it disappears, it reappears and remains. This is absolutely a design flaw with wiring not shielded in any way and simply wrapped in tape.

Had my Hyundai for about a year now. There are very serious issue with exterior lighting, brakes lights, rear lights. Break lighting assembly and wiring harness melts and burns to a black crisp, bulbs burst due to severe overheating during "normal operation" of the vehicle. Safety and fire hazard with rear tail light lap assembly, bulb burns extremely hot right through plastic housing unit. Unable to replace bulbs because lighting assembly melts to the socket's core and the socket melts over the bulb metal base. Expect extreme damage prohibiting replacement of any bulbs. After being pulled over repeatedly, informed exterior lights were even after just changing them. . Light bulbs burn hot rapidly, melt to the socket make it unable to get any replacement light bulbs to work because entire unit is then damaged, burnt and melted. Bulb will not fit because plastic unit has melted from circular to inward. Lights fail without the owner ever knowing until its too late. I've been parked at mall police officer informed me light was out, driving on highway pulled over 7 times given warning, repair orders due to lights out, pulled over on side street, road and lights just go out on highway. By the time bulb goes out its burned the entire unit through wiring, anything touching or around it. Change lights every 2, 3 weeks. When changing them I notice damage worsening, metal and bulb are burnt to a crisp. When I replace on side, a week or two later I have to change the other side. Creating a trickle affect. Once one goes out. Another goes out and so fourth. You literally have to replace the entire housing unit which is very expensive. Same repeats. . Did not work. My front exterior light are now out as of a week ago. Meaning I only have 1 working light. I went to the dealership and was told it would be 300 per side to get it fixed because I need new electrical wiring ! seriously !.
Right tail light burned out, which I noticed in a window reflection as I drove away from an auto parts store. When I opened the tail light assembly to change the bulb, I saw that the bulb and its base and socket were scorched black, and the hole in the red plastic tail light assembly where the bulb has to go through was melted and warped. The red plastic had to be scraped with a knife to open the hole enough for the bulb to go through. I had to go to more than one auto parts store to buy a new socket. I had to use black duct tape to hold the socket in place. When I checked the left tail light assembly, I saw that it had also melted and the previous owner had also used black duct tape to hold the socket in place. I read online that Ford has said the reason for the melting is that the driver keeps his foot on the brake pedal too long. Since when is there a time limit on putting your foot on the brake, especially since this is required when you are at a red light, and often happens when you stop to consult driving directions and don't want to put your car in park with the emergency brake on! what is the time limit? 30 seconds?.

Tail light assembly on both sides ($200 each to replace) are melting from the heat of the stop/tail light bulb. I see many other similar complaints to NHTSA. It necessitates putting in lower wattage bulbs which are not as bright as the original. This was discovered when replacing a bulb.
Started with horn and tail light intermittently not working. Then intermittently as you are driving the car shuts off with no warning. This is a major safety issue! everything locks up and you attempt to make it safely to the side of the road. All dash lights work but car won't start. Found same complaints on internet and youtube but no recall. Took to local Ford dealer and they cannot find the issue. The diagnostic machine did not issue a code. I explained in detail the issue and asked for documentation of the issue. The paper they gave me said runs rough when ac is on. I said that is not the issue. They said don't worry the ticket is still open in the system. I asked if they could put a reader on the car while driven to catch the diagnostic code and they said no. So I am in same situation as other owners where my safety and others are at stake each time this car shuts off. Also dealer said they h horn with a screwdriver to make it work for now. So no horn, tail light and car shutting off intermittently are serious safety issues. Ford needs to recall this problem and fix it!.
No dash light tail lights or markrr lights.

Tail light connection melts due to bulb getting too hot. Impossible to remove connector to replace bulb. Have to replace entire lens. Many, many reports online of this happening. Ford denies and refuses to replace. Expensive remedies for customers. This happens on Focus wagons and many other Fords.

Bought vehicle 2nd hand, cash, everything worked fine. Now, I have no brake lights, & my door locks no longer work on the remote, or the "all lock/unlock" button, & now my trunk latch is not working correctly. The door locks are self locking (meaning that they lock at any given time whenever they please. ) the brake switch has been replaced, all bulbs have been checked & replaced, fuses keep getting blown. Cannot locate fuse for the door locks. Ford has a campaign for the year 2000 for a door latch issue, campaign #05s27 NHTSA id# 05v-030. Also, campaign #05s50 NHTSA id #00v-411 for a tail lamp issue. There are no recalls on this yet after doing weeks of research I am finding that it is an issue with the Ford Focus from 2000 to current. After calling several dealers, none of them would tell me anything, & that "they didn't recall any problems before from anyone else". How is it that I can find this issue on the internet but the dealers "never heard of it"? why is there no change in the indicated issue of the wiring harness to the rear tail light assembly? wouldn't this be a hazard? I didn't know they weren't working until I got pulled over by law enforcement. So, this issue happens while the vehicle is being driven!!! therefore, a diligent owner who checks their lights regularly will not know it happens until (a) said person gets hit from behind, or (b) gets pulled over by law enforcement. . Passenger side tail light is out (brake light bulb fault warning light is on). After several bulb changes, the brake light either does not come on or it burns out very quickly. An on-line search revealed that this is a common problem and Ford has done nothing about this safety concern. I do not know when this problem first started because it may have been a long time before someone else noticed it and alerted me. The problem is present as soon as the key is turned on.
So many of these listed vehicles running at night with no tail lights. Headlamps and dash lights on. Why is Ford not being made to fix this problem? it is a safety issue to the rest of us on the road. This is for Ford Focus, escape, others 2011, 2012, 2013.
I purchased a used 2005 Ford Focus zxw wagon. I love the vehicle, as it gets good mileage, & has ample space, but I ran into a problem with this vehicle as my left tail light went out on me. Upon taking out the rear light assembly, and trying to replace the light bulb, I had the hardest time taking out the light socket out of the light assembly to change the bulb. Upon finally getting the light socket out, I find the tail light assembly where the light socket holds the bulb had melted, & deformed the hole of the tail light assembly. What a terrible design! from there, I decided to take out the right side tail light and check to see if the right side tail lens is toast too. . . . . . . . Sure enough, the right side tail light assembly had melted too, but lucky for me it still works. Ford should honor a recall for this problem, as I've read numerous forums about the tail lights melting on the Ford Focus wagons.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, by passers in other vehicles alerted that both tail lights failed to illuminate. In addition, the parking light was inoperable. The contact replaced the fuses eight times within the past five years. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Both rear tail lights have melted the bulb socket and the light housing. My local Ford dealer says this is not a problem and he has never heard of this happening. The vehicle's charging system is putting out about 15. 5 volts to everything electrical he also says this is not a problem. Also while driving the car the cabin fills with the smell of burning rubber also again I was told this is no problem.

2003 Ford Focus se 4 door sedan -- right rear turn signal socket has melted to tail light assembly where it cannot be removed. Both tail light assembly and socket have to be replaced. Left rear appears to be damaged also, but bulb is not out yet. Is this a fire hazard? it does create a problem because it's taken my garage and the Ford dealer 3 weeks to find the correct socket to fit the tail light assembly.
Ford Focus station wagon tail light over heating and bulb fusing to plastic light.
Rear door wont latch right and driver side tail light wont work.
