The dual clutch transmission is slipping. I contacted Ford and they indicated that this issue is not covered under the warranty even though a class action lawsuit has been settled regarding this type of vehicle.

When accelerating from a stop, the transmission slips. Much like a similar recall with the issue of transmission seals going bad and wetting the dry clutch pack.

The transmission would slip badly, even totally disengage. I was getting on a very busy road and accelerated and suddenly the car decelerated; the car behind me almost rear ended me, honked his horn, but there was nothing I could do. It slipped not as badly last year and Ford fixed it, saying it was under an extended warranty for known issues with the transmission, but now they say it is not covered and will cost $2200 to fix. There are pages and pages on the internet talking about the problems with this transmission. It is dangerous!.

2017 Ford Focus s, shudders/shakes when accelerating from a full stop. The car acts as if the transmission is slipping. The car is parked and I refuse to move it until this issue is addressed. Ford needs to fix this issue or issue everyone who owns this vehicle a full refund or a different model! this is not safe and can cause serious injuries to anyone driving it, especially on a highway or beltway at a great amount of speed and the car refuses to accelerate without shuddering or shaking.
When accelerating "normally" the transmission will slip between 1st and second gears. When accelerating from a rolling start like on a freeway, the transmission will rev and then shift and/or slip causing temporary loss of power.
Just purchased this vehicle and it only had a little over 74,000 miles. The transmission is already slipping and from my research, this is a common, known issue by many Ford Focus owners. We took the car to the local Ford dealership and they would only repair it if we paid out of pocket even though thousands of customers have reported similar issues. We called Ford customer service and they would not help either.
Erratic transmission slipping in lower gears.

When pulling off from a standstill the transmission slips and jerks. This problem does,nt happen every time but it appears to be worse when there are passengers in the car. The date below is the last time it happened. Have taken it back to the dealership and they said it did ok when they drove it.

Transmission slips and stalls when increasing speeds or doesnt shift at all. I was on the highway and had to pull off do to it stalled out 4 times note this is an automatic transmission and it slips and stalls or doesnt shift at all. When this started it was at 14000 miles and now its at 16568 miles and its now stalling.
The engine stalls after adding fuel at a gas station, then hesitates to start. Been told its the purge valve stuck, but dealer checked and only cleared the engine light. Also, the transmission clutch slips from 1st to 2nd gears, especially when vehicle has been driven for long period of time. Transmission also makes clicking noises when driving off. Note; the same vehicle, year, make and model have been recalled for the very same issues, however for some reason my vehicle has not been recalled.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the transmission was slipping while driving. Additionally, the vehicle hesitated while driving without warning. The contact stated that the engine sputtered and the rpm revved up while switching gears. The vehicle was taken to autonation Ford miami (16800 NW 57th Ave, miami, FL 33015, 305-707-0141) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
A known defect with the clutch is causing the transmission to slip when switching gears. Ford knows about this defect and yet did not issue a recall/extended warranty for all of the transmissions affected, only some. It's a $1500-$2000 repair and it's ridiculous that we should have to pay for their faulty machinery.
The transmission in my car is slipping. When I purchased the car new off the lot, I was told the jerking in the car was normal for the type it is. It happens when you try to accelerate. I was told today that my transmission needs to be replaced.
I've owned three different Fords, all of which were the Focus se (2013,2014, and debated purchasing the 2018) and all of these have had issues with the transmissions slipping. When shifting from first to second gear while driving, the car jolts back and forth and hesitates to shift gears. I test drove the car today and even the dealer admitted that this is not normal for cars but for this car is typical because there are so many issues.
Transmission is slipping. Transmission error messages appear very often.
2012 Ford Focus nothing but trouble with transmission! has been repaired 3 times since we bought this for our daughter to attend college. Extremely dangerous vehicle it loses power suddendly shudders and shakes can barely get pulled over to keep from being involved in an accident. Last repair by Ford dealer was 8-15-2018. Transmission is slipping again!. I could say more but do not feel that anyone is listening to how dangerous this vehicle really is as numerous complaints have been made. Really feel Ford got away with a major screwup and have not been held accountable by anyone! going to have to trade this in and it should never be sold again but they will sell it to some poor soul just las it was sold to me! 1st repair11-2012 by previous owner 2nd repair 7-16-2014 3rd repair8-25-17 4th repair 8-15-2018.
Clutch malfunction. Gear slipping. Not shifting properly.

The transmission slips making car jerk during take off and shifting into second, on the highway transmission rpms go up and transmission won't shift gears when accelerating.
When driving the vehicle it causes a stuttering movement from a stop. When pressing the gas from a stopped position it starts to shake upon acceleration. The car almost feels like the transmission is slipping and may cause the vehicle to stop. I feel that I and my children are unsafe when this happens!!!.
Transmission slips from 1st gear to 2nd creating a dangerous jerky acceleration. It has almost got me rear ended. In traffic I was accelerating and it wouldn't short into second correctly. When it did it sent me jerking forward when traffic was stopping forcing me to hit the brakes hard and created a chain reaction which the car behind me nearly hit me. I was sent a notice stating it's a known issue and Ford would fix it at no cost. When I bring it in they are refusing to fix it because of its branded title. The NHTSA needs to make this a mandatory safety recall so Ford will be forced to fix this known issue so they can stop weaseling their way out of repairs that endanger customers safety.
I had an extended warranty on my 2012 Ford Focus. Transmission. It is still way under mileage only 50,000 on my car. Just recently had a problem with my car and it has to do to defaults in the cluth. My my car is at the Ford dealership in williamsburg right now waiting on Ford headquarters to decide if they are going to cover the expenses or not. My warranty expired 2 months before this happened. But still way under mileage on warranty. I took it to Ford dealership in williamsburg va they said the cost to me would be 1,600. 00. They said they were contacting the main headquarters to Ford about this matter to see if they will pay for this since they knew there was a problem in these cars when they sold them. Waiting on response from headquarters at Ford to see 8f they are going to cover the cost . I feel they should. This happened while driving it the gears slipping. That's why I took it to the shop. It's at williamsburg Ford dealership as we seek waiting on Ford to get back to them and if they are going to pay for the clutch to be replay ed in my 2012 Ford Focus.
The Ford Focus transmission/clutch system is dangerous to both the operator and other drivers on the road. All Ford Focus/fiestas with the dps6 transmission systems should be immediately recalled and removed from united states' roadways. The owners of these vehicles should be reimbursed the cost they paid for the vehicles at the expense of Ford motor company. The inconsistencies in acceleration and maintaining gear are endangering lives. The longer these models stay on the road, the more likely they are to fail. Since Ford is no longer replacing/repairing these issues, people are being forced to drive defective cars that can fail without any notice. Please do the right thing and recall these vehicles immediately. My vehicle has had the clutch system replaced 5 times in only 62,000 miles. The transmission is now slipping again but Ford refuses to repair it further. I am now driving a vehicle that is considered dangerous.
When driving the vehicle it causes a stuttering movement from a stop. When pressing the gas from a stopped position it starts to shake upon acceleration. The car almost feels like the transmission is slipping and may cause the vehicle to stop. I feel that I am unsafe when this happens.
The transmission slips on acceleration at starts and on highways. It feels like it's the transmission is in neutral.
My car has, since the time I bought it, stuttered randomly when accelerating. This has caused issues where merging into traffic from a stop can be unreliable, causing me to fail to enter traffic at the expected speed and causing increased risk for a collision. I think it might be a transmission, since it feels like a gear is slipping. Eventually, through the stuttering, I will gain enough speed to where it stops being an issue. (possibly when entering the next gear).
Transmission jumps and slips randomly. Next day, it's fine. It's generally between 1-3 gears.
At 11/25/15, 15,490 miles Ford dealership checked vehicle for our complaint of increasing hesitation issues at acceleration. Found no codes. Second report at 8/10/16, 22,896 miles. We told dealership that it was like the transmission or clutch was slipping. No codes. 3rd report at 8/29/16, 23,057 miles-- dealer replaced clutch assembly and seal kit. At about July 2019, 50,000 miles same problems resurfaced. 8/6/19 Ford dealer confirmed car again needs a new clutch, but no longer under warranty. Car is stuttering at take off from busy intersections, acceleration ramps, etc almost causing serious accidents. Should not have to replace a clutch every 25000 miles. Affordability is issue and safety issue because of affordability.
Since purchasing the car in 2014 I have had multiple transmission issues. Clutch replacements. Sensors. Everytime given a different excuse for the same shutter and issues with the car stalling. This last time the car completely haulted from going 45mph on a 4 lane road, trasmission light flew on, rpms would rev up, but car would barely creep. I was almost slammed into from behind before I could safety move to the slow lane and travel to a safe stopping point. Yes the car was still abke to navigate, but that did not matter when vehicles were coming up on me driving 45+mph to my vehicle that stalled out. I called Ford. It took days to get the car back and it has been running worse than ever! transmission is constantly slipping. A new constant shutter has now developed. The car will sometimes begin to move from a stop light, but decide to suddenly drop to a crawl and the rpms go high then as it corrects the rpms no longer adjust and the car no longer feels it is auto shifting correctly. Issues occur during driving, on highways, at stop lights/signs. When going a steady speed wheather is it 25 or 65 the car constantly shutters all the time now. The transmission or clutch slip anytime any given day. It is unpredictable. Worse more dangerous problems with this vehicle and no help from Ford.
The transmission lugs or slips when going from a stopped position. It will eventually go and seems to be fine once I am over 25 miles per hour. It started about 4 weeks ago and seems to be more frequent. The vehicle only has about 30,000 miles on it. It gets regular oil changes and is not driven roughly.
The car jutters upon acceleration with the changing of gears. When attempting to pass cars, the transmission slips and takes a second to get into gear and begin accelerating. Problems gaining speed to merge with highway traffic. Getting much worse by the day.
Ford Focus se 2014 dps6 transmission issues. Vehicle slipped into neutral in motion while ascending a hill at 65mph. This caused my vehicle to lose speed quickly which almost resulted in me getting rear-ended by a semi truck who was tailgating me. He proceeded to honk as he probably thought I got on my brakes. Transmission slipped into neutral in motion, while pulling out into a then clear intersection to get across a 4 lane highway. Almost resulting in me getting t-boned by oncoming traffic. Stopped to cross an intersection I waited for a clearing, I pressed the gas the vehicle proceeded very slowly into the intersection almost as if the transmission was lagging. This could have easily caused me to get t-boned while in the intersection.
I purchased my car new from ryan Ford in sealy TX and immediately started having transmission problems. I took my car back and they adjusted my clutch. That same day, the car made a loud noise and felt like the bottom was coming out as I was driving on the toll. I took my car back again and they kept my car for a week. They said they could not find anything wrong with it. Fast forward, I contacted Ford and they asked me to call Ford relations. I told Ford relations that it was jerking and hesitating. So I took my car to autonation Ford here in katy, TX. They replaced the battery and the clutch. I took my car back to autonation Ford and explained to the transmission gentleman that my dad and my boyfriend had driven my car and said the transmission was slipping. The service man drove in the neighborhood, nottingham, and said there was nothing wrong with it. So I then received a recall notice and I called to schedule an appointment and the lady who schedules appointments told me that my car will always have "shuttering" problems not matter how many adjustments or how many times they change my clutch. She said Ford has extended their warranty to I believe 60k miles. My first brand new car was a Ford explorer sport which I loved. I never had a problem. I have purchased 2 Ford explorers, a f150, a Focus (but I did not have a transmission problem), and I leased a flex. My car has under 40k miles and I am very frustrated that the car will always have a problem. I financed $25k and I am ready to drop off my car at the dealership with the keys! I do not want to put anymore money into this car!!!!! I will never buy another Ford again. I filed a claim with Ford but they said there was nothing they could do because I waited too long. Nobody ever told me that what was really going on with the clutch. They made me feel to be a stupid lady. I will send further documentation.
Extreme shuttering coming from the transmission, first gear slips, sucking cares the worst and slips the most and struggles to get the third gear. The gear slip every time you come from stop to go, and second gear such the worst again but worse when you're turning.
I purchased my 2012 Ford Focus 2 years ago from a used Ford dealership. The following day I noticed my transmission slipping and that it would slip into neutral. I called the dealership 12 hours later and they informed me this was normal and not to worry about it. I continually struggle to accelerate in traffic and I have caught myself slipping backwards when idle on a hill.
