First off, when accelerating, even after the transmission recalls were "fixed", we still have very bad jerking and shuddering when accelerating. Sometimes it sounds like a grinding sound. Secondly, there is a clanking sound that happens when we drive over very small bumps. It sounds like metal hitting metal in the back of the car. There is nothing in the trunk that could be making that noise, and is heard outside of the car also. Problem cannot be located by mechanics or myself.

11 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/08/2019

My 2012 Ford Focus has 125,000 miles. The transmission stopped working as my wife was pulling into our driveway and it gave the error codes p2832 and p287b. It will move a little, but makes a loud grinding noise. These error codes are supposed to be covered by TSB 16-0044. I took it to garber Ford in green cove springs, FL. Yesterday they told me it will require a new transmission and will cost me over $5,000. If this is a known problem item from Ford, why isn't Ford replacing it? I cannot afford a new trans, and I cannot get sell the car as it now doesn't run and I still owe $4,000 on it.

12 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

After the original recall to repair the stuck canister purge valve my vehicles fuel gauge is not accurate I run out of gas at 1/4 tank or 135 miles to empty. When filling up on fuel my vehicle will not start properly when attempting to start the vehicle after refilling the fuel tank to full. This is not a one time issue this is a ongoing issue that happens many times a month. Transmission is jerking and makes noise and the dealer tells me this is normal when I know it is not. Ford has told the dealerships to tell owners of this vehicle it is normal so they are force to lie per company instructions. This vehicle and all other like it should be sent to the dealers for buy back.

13 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

April 25 2019 to this day July 10th 2019 is when everything started breaking down out of nowhere, I'm going to work at 6am I notice my car starting up odd and so on my way to work I was getting on the high way as I was accelerating something happened in my car that made a loud noise and my car bucked as if it was having trouble trying to rev so I turned my emergency lights and managed to get to work by driving slowly and man was it a scare. I ended up leaving my car overnight at work and got it towed to a local mechanic saying my radiator was busted ($260 out my pocket), looked online to see about any recalls and saw I had a couple to be fixed and that's when I took it in to a local dealer Ford dealership and they supposedly fixed my car but when I got it back it was just as bad and I even started getting messages on my dashboard about my lid compartment being open making me get off on red lights to get out and close the trunk. Then my second time being stranded on my way to work, same thing starting off my car felt odd but this time I made it to work but as soon as I pulled into the parking lot my car had felt like it died and stalled right as I was parking and when I got off and locked my car it started making weird mechanical noises, that's when I had to get it towed the next day again but this time the mechanic told me it was my transmission module, so I go online again and see there is an extended warranty for my exact problem. So I take it in to the dealer so they can fix it but they turn out telling me I have a hole in my transmission and that they can't fix the problem even though it's due to the computer software malfunctioning causing it to break now the dealership is asking 2,000-5,000 to replace. I'm sick and tired to be honest I'm about to lose my job for going in late, I've paid a month already without even using the car I need help.

14 Transmission Noise problem of the 2017 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 03/03/2019

Beside the two safety recalls 18v-735 and 19v-515 there is another issue with the car which when it rains all the rain water penetrates the back door of the car and it stays there for a long period of time due to the poor design of Ford motor company and its negligeance and fraud. I believe this issue might be a safety risk and it should be investigated. After the recalls and the poor repairs the car still unsafe to drive because the transmissions problem is irreparable which means this car will never be safe to drive and everyday I drive it to work whenever I stop in a hill at a traffic light or stop sign I hear noise coming from the transmission and if it happened that I stopped suddenly in the middle of the hill due to traffic the car losses its power and barely moves forward ( loss of power due to faulty transmission)this issue caused me an accident early this year when the car lost power up hill in my neighborhood . The conclusion is my car and all 2017 Ford Focus are not safe to drive . I believe that Ford motor company and the dealer who sold me this garbage car deceived all of us and committed a big fraud . I think it is time for the government to open an investigation and force them by law to buy their garbage cars back . Until this moment I still believe that there is no one above the law. Thank you for reading my complaint .

18 Transmission Noise problem of the 2017 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

After owning my now 2nd Focus, only to get out of my first 2013 Ford Focus that had transmission/internal clutch, to get into a 2017 Ford Focus which I learned today for the 1st time has the same transmission. Before I made the purchase of the 17 on July 1st, 2017, I was told they no longer had the dual clutch internal automatic transmission, which is why I was willing to trade the 2013 Focus in for the 2017. My current '17 only had about 7600 miles on it when I started feeling the car shutter between 1st and 2nd gear. Then more recently between 2nd and 3rd gear. My previous vehicle had been back to oxmoor Ford in louisville ky 6 times for fixes, which there never was a known fix. My current '17 is in for the first time. Same issues as the 13 year model. As I drive it, it clinks and makes rattle noises in addition to the shuttering. It sounds as though the transmission is going to drop out of the bottom of the car. It's unsafe and will continue to get worse as times goes on just as my 2013 did. The sales manager of oxmoor Ford is who sold me my 2017 Ford Focus which was all under false pretenses.

19 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

There is now this grinding noise coming from my car engine. Was acting up a month after I bought it in 2017. Everyone said OH it's fine there's nothing wrong with it. Well it acts up as soon as I start to drive it slow. . . . Others say it's the transmission. And others say I'm stupid. It slips when you start to go. I want this fixed.

20 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/19/2017

Transmission went out while on a road trip. Went to start the car and transmission issue alert came on the dash. I drove about a mile then could no longer accelerate and had to pull over. I could reverse but no acceleration in drive. Got it towed and the mechanic at the Ford dealership told me it was an issue with the transmission computer. It was covered under the manufacturer warranty but I'm still having issue with clutch slipping when accelerating from a stop. Causes jerking of the car sometimes and loud grinding noises.

22 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 04/07/2017

Bought new on 12/25/2015. Started hesitating starting off, skipping like spinning tires. Got worse and like going over strips in the road. Akin replaced the computer and the clutch 9/2016. Did fine then started again. Had it checked and could not make it duplicate the problem (01/2017). Just this week (04/06/2017 it started doing it again, and quickly increased happening. 04/07/2017 was so bad it would not change from 1st to 2nd gear and now has a scratching/rattling noise. Called dealer and service dept. Says to call in the morning and set appt. To bring in. Had husband riding this time and it is the transmission. Also has a slight drop or hesitation while driving as it seems to be dropping back in power and then picks back up. Very dangerous and scary. This happens starting off from a stop, turning from stop, going down the highway. I did not have the air turned on!.

23 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 02/26/2017

When I first bought the car it started making noise when I drove it I took it in they said they fixed the problems it was still under warranty. After a couple of weeks it started making the same noises so when I had time a couple of months later I took it in again and they told me it was the transmission and that my warranty was not active anymore. It made the same noises the first time I took it in and they never said it was the transmission it was a wheel problem. I'm asking for help on what to do thanks.

24 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/22/2016

I purchased a certified 2014 Ford Focus in August 2015 with 48k miles. Drove it like two weeks without any issue, afterwards this terrible jerking, grinding and shudder noise started when accelerating from a stop sign or try to slow down and accelerate near speed bumpers or when accelerating while getting a turn. I took it to the dealer. They did a software update and said it needs to drive 1000 miles or so to automatically reprogram the transmission¿s computer by understanding my driving patterns. I felt some improvement compared to how it used to jerk while changing gears in low gears. But still shudder (or grinding) noise can be hear once in a while when accelerating from a stop or driving low speeds at speed bumps or while getting a 90 deg turn. Most recently I felt a massive jerking and grinding noise again during a cold day when temp below 50f for the first time in the fall this year. This time it is pretty bad and I don¿t feel safe driving specially when it is snowing. . . !! Ford need to fix these cars ASAP . . !!.

26 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/15/2016

Following my low tire pressure indicator coming on, I noticed the power steering issue as I was pulling into a parking spot, and my steering wheel made a squeaking or whining sound. Later, while driving on a city street, as I began to make a turn, my steering wheel started hesitating, and making a gear stripping noise; the steering column locked up and when I tried to turn the wheel it made a loud squeaking sound. Also, my transmission shutters whenever I accelerate and slow down. The transmission issue was initially repaired via a software update before the warranty expired, but it has since started to malfunction again.

27 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

I've have had to have three updates done for the transmission. About a month ago, I almost got killed pulling onto a country highway, due to inability to pick up power and they had to replace the clutch. Today, the car had to be towed to the dealership due to lack of power, hesitating, and odd noise while driving. This car isn't 2 years old, and it's been constant problems.

29 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/25/2016

My 2016 Focus has been giving me issues since I purchased it in August 2016. I have experienced excessive shuddering and jerking during acceleration at a slow or fast acceleration. I heard a ticking noise when the car is in drive or park. I finally was able to get an appointment with the service department to get the issue checked out but its 2 weeks away(8/15/17). All Ford dealerships in baton rouge, la are backup due to the issues with the transmission. One of the service departments told me that all they can do is reset the transmission and it should fix the problem. The Ford dealership I brought my car from told me that they don't have a transmission guy to even look at my car and to go somewhere else.

30 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 08/05/2016

I was driving on a city street travelling 50 mph when my car started to stall. I hit the gas and my car jerked and stalled again. Then my car read a message that said "transmission malfunction service now. " once I was able to get to a safe location, I parked my car and it made some funny sound almost like a clunking noise. This is not the first time my car has stalled out and had transmission issues. This is actually the third time I have been driving my car and been scared out of my mind due to my car stalling out while driving.

31 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/25/2016

I bought a 2012 Focus in 2015 with 14,690 miles on it. After a couple of weeks I noticed problems with the transmission but tried to think positive and say it can't be. As the days and weeks went on it got worse and worse the cranking noise the lack of acceleration and deceleration, the shuddering, etc. . Then I get a recall letter from Ford motor stating there's a recall on the transmission and if affected have dealer take care of it, so I called the dealer and asked if they could give me a loaner since I have a severely disabled 8 yr old daughter that I must have transportation in case of any emergency they told me no loaners, so I called Ford motor told them my issue and they also said no loaners. I took the car and I got it back the same day they told me it just had to be reprogrammed ok so a week later the same thing started but I have to work as well so I can't take off from work so easily, so I just kept driving it since the service manager assured me it will never stall. Well it did just this week right in the middle of the road with the red malfunction light on. I was stuck I waited a few mins in the boiling heat with my daughter and restarted the car, needless to say it's going back to the dealer again. It's a hazard driving this car thank god no one hit me on the road. With this car you can have a major accident it is the unsafest car you could drive.

32 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Ford Focus

Transmission is leaking before 95k miles properly maintained, also transmission has started to make a loud wiring noise where it sounds likes its gears are wearing. 33 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 03/04/2016

When accelerating from a complete stop or when the car is running in a low gear, the car will hesitate, shudder, shake, jump violently, stall, grind gears, and/or make other noises at varying levels. Was first noticed when making a turn from a stop sign. At first I thought it was my front driverside tire rubbing the wheel well as that was the type of sound I was hearing. I then started experiencing the shuddering and stalling behaviors. I also began hearing noises that sound like the grinding of gears like may occur when driving a manual transmission and missing the gear. Most issues occur during city street driving. This went from an occasional occurrence to an every time I drive the car situation. This in no way feels normal or sounds normal.

34 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 01/18/2016

Since September 2014, the transmission has shuddlers, and shakes violenly, while the vehicle accelerates, deaccelerates or even in reverse. The transmission is extremely loud while the vehicle is either drive or reverse as well. My vehicle has been taken to four different Ford dealers at five different for this issue and yet this problem has not repaired.
