I have a 2004 Ford Freestar van and I was driving down the road and I went to pass another vehicle and I push the gas and I heard some crunchy noise is and then nothing no power at all no gears nothing I was dead in the water so I had to get out of the van and push it to the side of the road didn't have reverse didn't have drive didn't have third second or first no gears at all the transmission failed me I could have been in a very bad accident and hurt it just came out of nowhere there was no signs of anything wrong with the van and then this happens.

I purchased a 2006 Ford Freestar van on 10-13-2020 and 10-16-2020 car lights started blinking on and off in an outside the van. Started to drive home the van started jerking bad and smoking. 3 weeks ago my family and I was almost killed by a semi-truck on the highway our vehicle just gave out in the middle of the highway I then started doing research on my vehicle I then reported the vehicle to the safety vehicle complaint and was contacted by a staffing took my vehicle to the said place in el paso TX case Ford my vehicle has been detained for over 2weeks the gentle men tony a worker of casa Ford has been very rude and reluctant to actually service my vehicle he said the vehicle wouldn't fail at some point it finally failed I also just purchased a new battery I just bought a week prior to the accident and tony said the battery I had was no good which is not true and charged me 200 for a new battery I feel that casa Ford is not trying to resolve the issue with my vehicle I'm disabled and my children as well the said he doesn't know what is wrong that it may be the transmission but something is broken and not showing up what can our family legally do we have no vehicle 7000 down the drain pl.

Torque convertor defective in similar Ford Freestar models eddy's Ford dealership sold recall vehicle as is against state & federal laws and lied to disabled veterans about replacing the defective torque converter after discovery of recall caused piston hole engine block and transmission damage cutting out near dangerous bridge intersection.

My 2004 Freestar overheats after 70 mph. Replaced thermostat and fans. Does this with ac turned off. I turn to heat on to cool it done. I drove 2100 miles with windows down. This happens on the highway and going up long steep grade.

The indiana alpr tracking system causes electrical malfunctions including the abs brake system and various other unknown malfunctions. The abs module has failed on the subject vehicle and the alpr attacks continue. These alpr attacks are initiated by electrical apparatus on top of telephne poles and on police cars. These attacks can be heard by sudden unexpected loud thumping on my dashboard which could cause an accident in addition to the abs brake system failure. These attacks occur both in motion and when stationary. The thumping is expecially surprising in traffic and could easily cause an accident. Plus, I do not have abs protection on slick roads.

The issue happened again with the vehicle not accelerating from a stopped position . The vehicle was taken to a dealer bell Ford 1200 NJ-27, colonia, NJ 07067 (732) 388-6900 and they repaired two recalls for the torque converter and seat latch mounting brakets. In process of performing the recall repairs, the lugnuts were damaged and both axels had to be broken along with the front pipe assemply and the power steering line. The oil pan was also damaged during the recall repairs. The dealer said all of the damage parts and the recalls were finally repaired. The contact was driving home the vehicle issue happened again but the dealer refused to retake the vehicle . The vehicle sat at the house for a year and the contact called the manufacturer. They spoke to the dealer who stated that the recalls were not done when they told the contact that they had been completed. The dealer also charged the contact for the recall repairs. The vehicle was currently at an independnent mechanic still unrepaired. The manufacturer stated thatn they have no programs to assist the contact. The failure mileage was 130,000. Tf.

Engine surges in reverse and drive violently almost hitting vehicle in front of me at stop light no engine light or vehicle codes found.

Transmission won't go into reverse and sometimes not in any gear. Engine stops running on highway with no warning. Nearly had an accident, had to be towed.

When it's raining or wet snow outside the van starts to chug. This causes the vehicle to have loss of power and it becomes jerky. The engine light starts to flash. It only does this when it's wet outside- it happens on the freeway, dirt roads, paved in town roads. . . . I'm sure it is the electrical box under the hood getting wet from a manufacture overlook- I've read this was an issue and because it hasn't caused a death it's not something Ford has to fix? I have children and I will not allow my family to be a loss because of a manufacture issue. Ford should be paying for the fix.

The third row seating latch has rusted out on the driver side. The vehicle I believe has issues that other 2004 Ford Freestar vehicles have the same issues and were recalled. I have contacted Ford, and they refuse to help. I have 4 children and I fear to take them anywhere in this vehicle. Please help. 2nd time that this has happened. Was driving when the van started bucking/sputtering/surging. It would die and then fire right back up just to do it once again. Soaked pcm connector was to blame both times. This is obviously a design flaw by Ford and needs to be taken care of. I'm glad I was not on the interstate or in the middle of an intersection.

I was driving the vehicle and it was raining outside and as I was driving all of a sudden my car just died in the middle of the freeway no warning ,no nothing just died I almost was rear ended, I took it to a mechanic who said the pcm is not sealed properly and got wet and fried out this is unbelievable that Ford would see tons of these complaints like I have seen online same problems and put people lives and their childrens lives in danger with this poor manufacturing. Because of a recall letter we took it in to uptown Ford for the torque converter replacement on 09/05/2014. The repairs were completed. On 06/29/2015 while driving on a highway in pewaukee, with our four small children in the back, the van lost forward and reverse power and could have easily, but fortunately did not, resulted in a crash; the engine continued to run, steering and braking were unaffected and the electrical system remained functional. I was able to have to van towed right away to our local mechanics shop that day (6/29/15). The following day (06/30/2015) I called uptown to see if they could take a look at it because that was where to recall replacement was performed. Fred in the repairs department said he couldn't look at it until July 8th and then the repair would take up to a week to complete if it was the transmission/torque converter. They had rental cars for $13-35/day, but did not have any vans or something that would accommodate our whole family (4 car seats). I called the # for Ford from the recall letter to get some guidance r. E. This problem. I spoke to jackie. She said that if it was an issue with the torque converter it would only be covered if the van was within 12 months of the recall replacement or within 12,000 miles. It was within 12 months, but was about 200 miles past the 12,000 mile mark. It was repaired at 87,670 miles and the odometer at the time of break-down was at 99,800+, making it outside of the "warranty" period. So, I moved forward with the repairs at our mechanics automotive. The total cost for the transmission replacement was $2,259. 84. Afterwards I was informed that recalls cannot have a limited warranty such as the one that was described to me by the csr (jackie) at Ford on 06/30/2015. This is a problem that put my family into harms way and a repair of that problem that should have been covered by Ford/uptown.

While driving down the highway with my five children in the car the carson we lost power and I had to say try my best to safely coast to the side of the road and was not able to get completely out of the way before the car stopped and wouldn't move. We have to get out of the car walk through a field a9 year old 10 year old 6 year old two year old and an 8 month old. There are recalls on all other urs except this one even though they have the same engine and failing parts. Torc converter!!! my kids were afraid and didnt know what would happen ro us. It will cost us money we don't have to fix this car, with the faulty part. We should be included in the recall.

Turns out there was a recall on the 2004 Ford Freestar in 2012 regarding the torque converter. Here it is two years later and it goes out again. This should not happen. There needs to be another recall on the torque converter and it needs to be fixed properly this time before there is a death from the incident. I had two kids under the age of 3 with me at the time and sitting in the pouring rain, in chilly weather, waiting for a ride home was not fun. Fix it Ford!!!.

Car history: the transaxle light has gone before when we travel through vt mountains, but turning off the engine and letting it sit, and restarting it, the light would go off. Upon getting home safety, our mechanics didn't find anything to repair and so left it be, and would only sometimes see it when we traveled through the vt mountains, a few times a year. All recall repairs were up to date. There were no other symptoms. Incident: as we nearing the top of a mountain, the transaxle light came on. Unlike the other times, the transmission suddenly failed to be in the correct gear, so unlike the other times, we were very concerned. We pulled over immediately, and as we reached the shoulder smoke began pouring out of the vents. We quickly evacuated our kids, and as we were getting them out we noticed that there was already fire coming from under the hood, near the windshield, on the passenger side. We are so glad our kids were awake, and able to unlatch their own child carseats, and able to get out quickly. The fire spread to the entire van, consuming everything, at a great expense to us. (and others; our accident blocked a significant amount of traffic for about 3 hours. ).

Accelerated away from a stop sign within a walmart parking lot and after about fifteen feet the vehicle began to slow down while depressing the accelerator. Attempted to accelerate and the rpm's went up with no propulsion. Allowed vehicle to stop then pushed in a parking space. There was never any indication that the transmission would fail via warning light nor was there a noise/bang/clunk etc associated. Vehicle just stopped accelerating. Had vehicle towed to shop and they said there were no codes indicating the failure and a transmission rebuild would be in order for $2000.

We were in the middle lane of i5 north heading home from a family vacation when we suddenly lost power. No warning sounds,lights or anything . One minute we were driving along ,the next I was hanging out the passenger window( my husband was driving) waving off oncoming traffic to let us coast to the side. We have endured $ 20000 in repairs ( and counting) ,750. 00 in hotel bills ( and counting because we are still here!) as for Ford saying ,it's not a safety issue' ,we could easily have been killed. My 2 kids were in the car,the hair on my arm stood up when I thought about what could have happened thanks to Fords crappy workmanship. There is no way they don't know this problem exists. I will never buy Ford again.

I attempted to start vehicle and the engine was difficult to turn over. When it did start the rpms were going up and down . When I tried to put car in reverse it would not engage causing vehicle to roll forward. ( I was parked on a slight declined driveway). After reading about similar problems I checked the pcm (power control module. It was filled with water !!! after unplugging the pcm and allowing it to dry out I plugged it back in and the problem was corrected. It appears to me that the pcm is located in a bad location causing it to have problems when it rains or snows. I made a temporary fix by putting silicone caulking around the cowling where I believe the water is getting in. . . .
