1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 Ford Freestar

Failure Date: 01/20/2013

2004 Ford Freestar ses I changed the rear brakes on 1/20/2013 noticed the left rear wheel was rusting out. Today 2/24/2013 went to install a car sear & noticed the bench seat in the back was rocking slightly. The anchor point on the left rear is rusted out and moving. Upon inspection I noticed that I can see down to the ground where the anchor point has rusted out. I have had to replace numerous parts on this van over the last two years. To date I have replaced: 3 ignition coils, (this is the main problem whenever heavy rain or snow has happened and I start to throw misfire codes), 3 camshaft position sensors, 2 driver side window controls & motors, (the window doesn't want to work half the time so we leave it cracked open with the rain guards), an egr valve, and a clockspring. I have never had so many problems with this vehicle in such a short amount of time.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2004 Ford Freestar

Failure Date: 09/20/2012

At 147000 miles, I needed a complete transmission rebuild. This cost me $2800 due to the fact that there were additional parts not common to a standard rebuild. This was sept. 2011. In January, I am able to note online that there is a torque converter recall for this model. I call Ford, I'm told there is nothing they can do until the recall is officially released in the 2nd quarter. Wait until 2nd quarter, no notice in the mail. I call Ford in August and tell them this, I am told that Ford will fix the car, it will take approx. 4 days and that no rental car is available during this period. If I suffer a total loss, maybe. Basically, I have to be stranded on the side of the road with my two young children before I can get any help with their issue. After rebuild, I start having issues with cylinder 3 misfire. I replace all plugs and wires, still a cylinder 3 misfire as well as overheating and egr valve. Replace egr valve, complete radiator change, coil pack, still issues with misfiring and overheating. I understand that this could be a computer issue, however Ford fails to realize this and therefore will not issue a recall. Not that that would help since if they took it into the shop to fix it, I would not be able to get to work in the interim.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2006 Ford Freestar

Failure Date: 05/26/2012

Driving down road city street (25 mph speed limit) on way home. Not raining outside. Temperature was about 85 degrees. Very high humidity. As approached intersection the vehicle suddenly shut itself off. Complete loss of power, power steering, and power breaking. Wife had trouble pulling over, but because were only going 20 mph at that point, we managed to pull over and stop car. We were only 2 blocks from home, so we restarted engine (which turned on without trouble) and drove home slowly (now with the check-engine light on). Dangerous situation, as it is incredibly difficult to control the vehicle without power steering or braking. If we had taken the interstate home instead of the way we went, we could have been driving at 70 mph onto an off ramp when it shut off. Very dangerous indeed.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Ford Freestar

Failure Date: 02/27/2012

I just received a safety recall notice 11s25 / NHTSA recall 12v-006 everytime I drive my van it does not seem to want to accelerate or maintain speed. I have taken it to the mechanic and I was told that I needed to have a new egr valve put on, so I did. That did not fix the problem and I was told new spark plugs and wires so I had them replace, that did not fix the problem. Then I was told that I may need a new fuel filter, so I had it replaced and once again that did not solve the problem. This is the only vehicle I have and I am a single mom to two young children. I am worried that while I am driving I will lose all power and will be hit by another vehicle. My van never wants to go over 40 mph and once it does reach that speed it will not maintain and sometimes makes an odd noise. I pulled onto the by-pass the other day and my van would not accelerate right away. . . Thank god that the truck behind me was able to pass me on the shoulder. There have been a couple other times when my van would not gain speed and I would have to pull over so that the vehicles behind me could pass. So in a nut shell the problems are as listed: 1. ) van will not accelerate or maintain speed 2. ) when I press on the gas pedal there is often a pinging / knocking sound I just want to know what I need to do to get this problem fixed and not be out any more money. Please help!.
