I have a 2004 Ford Freestar van and I was driving down the road and I went to pass another vehicle and I push the gas and I heard some crunchy noise is and then nothing no power at all no gears nothing I was dead in the water so I had to get out of the van and push it to the side of the road didn't have reverse didn't have drive didn't have third second or first no gears at all the transmission failed me I could have been in a very bad accident and hurt it just came out of nowhere there was no signs of anything wrong with the van and then this happens.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall. My Ford Freestar without warning or anything just wouldn’t go after stopping at a stop sign. It was like it was stuck in neutral. But it was in drive. In 2003 and 2004 there was a recall on the transmission. My van is a 2005 but the transmission was manufactured in 2004. Which is one of the years that was recalled so why is my 2005 Ford Freestar van not one of the ones under that recall. Is it cause it’s a 2005 cause the transmission was manufactured in 2004. Driving down highway at 60 mph lost all power basically coasted to side of road. Looks like torque converter and pump shaft splines stripped out. Shows there was a recall but none listed for this VIN number. This is a huge safety concern and Ford should have to repair.

I was having issues with my car not able to really move so I had a mechanic to come to me to inspect it and he stated it was my torque converter someone on it in it near it. . That my issue. . So I was calling about the recall on it and it stated that it was already fixed in 2012 on recall. And I'm a new owner purchased in 2018. . I'm a Ford girl. . So from the taurus 500 and Freestar never had of it needed a van have grandkids and now out my four year with it no problem with til now and by it has been replaced before I'm not able to get help with fixing it . . That my only car now I'm now disabled on fixed income and can't afford to buy a new transmission. . I'm asking if u could assist me with the same issue happening twice with vehicle with two different owner. . Thanks for your assistance and help.

Was driving on populated road when all of a sudden car when in to neutral and almost rear-ended if not for quick thinking. Had to have it towed and now don't have any money to fix it so I lost my job cause could not get to work please have this problem recalled like the earlier years. .

The transmission is grinding and popping when shifting gears. Also it has started not moving when I shift it into drive and 3rd and 1st. When I drive it I have to put it in 1st gear and change up to drive and it grinds and pops when giving it gas to go. It comes to a crawl going up hills. Has a big loss of power. The trackshion control light comes on saying it's not working. The electrical is messing up the doors are opening up when they are not supposed to going down road. It tells me that different doors are open when there not keeping the lights on in the van running down the battery.

Ford is recalling about 206,000 2004 and 2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury monterey vehicles, because the torque converter output shaft may fail. If the torque converter output shaft were to fail, the result would be a sudden loss of motive power with no warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford will notify owners and dealers will replace the torque converter for free. The safety recall is expected to begin in the second calendar quarter of 2012. The recall campaign number is 11s25. 2012 recall was done at dealership, was the work actually done? with low miles it hard to believe that this has failed!.

Driving down the road vehicle experiences total loss of acceleration it’s like it’s in neutral in every won’t go forward or backwards towed home looked up problem seems that it’s the same as recall for 04-05 models torch converter had I been on highway in st. Louis mo could have been killed as they aren’t known for being the safest drivers it’s my opinion Ford should have to recall every vehicle that had the parts that are faulty in them regardless of the model year if the parts are junk on 04-05 they used the same in 06 models you know they are gonna have same problems.

Driving down rd n it felt as if someone was pushing break while I was smashing gas pedal . Lost all fire to car wouldn't go no where. I was on a country rd going uphill. It spots n sputter n jerks real hard going up hill like my transmission going bad but motor sounds good so I have no clue. .

I was driving down the highway at approximately 45 miles per hour when all of a sudden my rpms shot up but I had no acceleration it did this without warning I managed to get over to the side of the road, and I was going to check transmission fluid but when I pulled the dipstick out fluid shot out the dipstick hole. I was able to walk to a store & buy transmission fluid that I added. I waited a bit then tried drive, reverse, low gear, but nothing. Had to call a tow truck.

My 2006 Ford free star, lost it gears in the middle of driving on a busy hwy. I was reversing out of a drive way on to the hwy and went to go into d and it would not move it would only go into first gear. I think this a major safety issue and Ford should be held accountable for it poor design. Me and my children could of been hurt or even worse killed. The hwy is 65 mph an I'm stuck across the two lanes. Because the van wont shift. I looked online and this happens a lot with this make and model. And it not the first time I have lost power well driving on the hwy in this van due to poor design.

While you are driving the vehicle. The vehicle has something wrong with the transmission. I looked up Ford recalls and it states that this type of vehicle has been recalled for transmission problems. Torque something thing. The van has only 141000 miles and is rusted severely underneath it. Very sad.
