The contact owns a 2009 Ford Fusion. While driving, the contact heard the brakes squeak when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the front pads and rotors were replaced however, the failure persisted. The independent mechanic then diagnosed the failure as the anti-lock braking system. The local dealer larson Ford (1150 ocean Ave, lakewood, NJ 08701) was contacted after notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) was received. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy. The contact stated that the local dealer larson Ford (1150 ocean Ave, lakewood, NJ 08701) was contacted however, parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the recall notice stated that the part would not be available until the first quarter of 2021. The contact stated that the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would send a letter to the dealer to expedite the repairs. The contact was concerned that the dealer was charging a diagnostic fee. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Tl the contact owns a 2009 Ford Fusion the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact contacted winner Ford (250 haddonfield-berlin rd, cherry hill, NJ 08034, (856) 428-4000) where it was confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that the remedy would be available in the first quarter of 2020 however, after speaking with them again, the manufacturer confirmed the remedy was still not available as of August, of 2020. The contact stated that while driving down a decline it became difficult to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that while applying the brakes, an excessive amount of pressure was needed to pump the brakes after coming to a stop, to regain braking power. The contact stated that the rotors in the rear and front of the vehicle, as well as the brake pads were replaced at the same dealer however, the failure persisted. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
On Aug 8, 2019 my right front wheel crossed over a dip in the road while making a right turn. I pressed my brake and almost immediately I had an 'empty' feeling in my brake pedal. I could press the brake paddle completely down without much resistance. Had my rotors and brake pads checked next day but all 100%. Learned that the hydrolic control unit (hcu) unit was affected. A known Ford Fusion failure and costly to replace!!! recall Ford!!!.
Driving through town on a sunny day when the light in front of me turned red. I applied the brakes and went over a small bump. After the bump the brake pedal went to the floor. The vehicle would not stop in time and I was forced to roll through the intersection. I was terrified. Thankfully, I did not cause an accident, but the brake pedal remained spongy. It feels like it has about 30% braking power. I had a total brake replacement less than 1000 miles ago. Pads, rotors, bled the lines, the whole 9 yards.
Problem occurs when vehicle is in motion. We (two drivers) experienced intermittent braking hesitation. Usually when driving on rough pavement, and especially when turning, brakes will hesitate to activate properly. Brake pedal tends to drop near the floor before braking occurs. Have noticed approximately 20-30 feet of additional pavement distance is covered before brakes fully engage. New brake pads were installed within the last 20,000 miles, but this is believed to be an issue with a faulty abs. We believe this is likely an issue with corrosion and/or sticky valves in the abs unit as others have described and posted on-line.
Takata recall I have had issues with my brakes ever since I got the brake pads changed about a year ago. I have taken it to several shops that cannot tell what is causing the problem. It is really difficult to get the car to stop. You really have to press all the way down. I find it extremely dangerous. Brakes should work immediately not with a delay. In rain or snow the car has an even more difficult time stopping which has almost resulted in a few accidents. I really believe their needs to be a recall. This is our family's car and I don't even feel safe driving it alone, much less with my children. Please look into this matter. Peoples lives are at stake!.
On 3 occasions my anti-lock brake system seemed to engage and fail causing the entire brake system itself to fail. One occasion was braking over a slick surface in a city street, my anti-lock brakes attempted to engage and the pedal then went straight to the floor and my vehicle hardly slowed down even 5 mph. On two other occasions going over uneven surfaces, one a high way exit ramp, the other a city street under construction. I attempted to brake so my suspension system would take less of an impact, and because of the object I was going over my anti-lock brakes engaged and failed. On both occasions the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and the vehicle hardly slows at all. Each time this happens the brake pedal will not recover for approximately 2-3 weeks. By this I mean that I must depress the brake pedal about 80% before the brakes will actually engage. After the 2-3 week period the brakes seem to go back to normal on their own. On all three occasions my brake pads were at least 80% and the brake fluid was full.
There has been an ongoing recall for the hydraulic system that causes brakes to not slow down my vehicle. I notice this more when it rains or is icy outside. Recall remedy was supposed to be ready first quarter of 2020; I have gone through more sets of brakes and brake pads on this vehicle than any other vehicle I have ever owned. Ford has done nothing to help remedy this and no Ford dealership can give a clear answer regarding when this will be available. Ongoing issue for nearly 3 years now.
As I was braking to turn into the driveway at work this past winter , the road was snow covered and the antilock brakes activated. Since that time the brake pedal has excessive amount of travel before brakes engage. I have since changed out pads , rotors and flushed the brakes and cannot get rid of the soft brake pedal. I did some searching online this past weekend and found others having the same issue. Ford needs to correct this brake issue.
While traveling on the expressway at speed, on two different occasions, the brake pedal on my '09 Ford Fusion first began to grab then traveled all the way to the floor resulting in no brakes. The first time was just after hitting a pot hole and the second was on wet payment. The first resulted in sliding into an intersection after exiting the freeway and being able to stop. The second required me to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid rear-ending the car in front of me. The car was then inspected at a Ford dealership which said the brake fluid was a bit low but no other problems were found. The pads are good, no leaks have been detected and yet the low fluid can't be explained, even though it was inspected two months earlier. Both failures occurred during hard braking and one other issue such as a pot hole or wet pavement. No alert indicators lights on the dash have ever come on. The dealer reported no error codes being available from the computer. The issue has not occurred in the last 3 weeks since the last dealer "repair".
When I have gone on roads that are uneven or bumpy my brakes would not work and go all the way to the floor. They would be fine after a while. I went over some railroad tracks and it happened again where my brakes go all the way to the floor. Its has been that way for about 3 months now. I have had the brakes looked at and new pads put on. Its still not fixed and I still really have no brakes and takes a lot to stop. Even pumping the brakes doesn't work.
After applying the brakes with much force to stop suddenly, the brake pedal remains soft/spongy. The brake pedal has remained soft/spongy since the event. The brakes still work and there is no warning or indicator light that indicating a problem with the brakes. I changed all four brake pads and the brake pedal remains soft/spongy. I have had to adjust my stopping distances.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle's would fail without warning. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the brake pads and shoes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the brake pads and shoes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired a second time however, the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was not able to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,492. Gl.
Whenever I need to brake, the pedal goes to the floor, and there is minimal resistance from the brakes. This applies to abs situations (rainy, icy weather) and dry conditions when brakes are needed suddenly (highway slowdown, animal jumping in the road). This applies to traveling at any mph, including highway and city driving. The pedal also drops to the floor when the car is in park. Pumping the pedal is required to feel any resistance, but it is necessary every time the brakes are needed. Time and distance needed to slow down are exponentially more than even a year ago. Brake pads were replaced 3 years ago, fluids were flushed, replaced, and bled 4 months ago. Auto body shops report all is well and that there is no reason my brakes should be so slow to react or the pedal should drop to the floor.
After hitting a bumpy road my brakes went to the floor and stopping power just went away. Checked at shop. All pads replaced. Fluid changed completely twice. Master cyl and hoses not leaking, now I have really weak braking system from the federally mandated system 49 cfr 571. 135 - standard no. 135 that is installed in my car and cant get it repaired. Do I just throw a car I bought brand new away? mileage 88000 started now at 92000. New tires and talked to Ford house but no one will commit to any answers. Have a student trying to drive this car in college and around town. Roads are rough from drought and constantly trying to pump brakes but it makes no difference while driving. If just starting off for the day a lot of times you have good brakes until something happens and they just go away. Hard to watch road, speed people and pump brakes all the time. Lets go . Step up and do your job. . . . . . . . . . . No injuries yet close calls at traffic lights.
The first time this happened was 3-4 years ago. My wife was braking at a stop light and hit a small pothole in which the break petal went all the way to the floor and she was able to come to a full stop even though it took a lot longer to do so. She pulled over and I had to pick her up and took the car into a local break repair chain. By the time they were able to check it out the breaks were working fine again. When we described the issue they could not find any reports of this on the internet. I believe this was the first time the break fluid was changed since the locations indicated wet or dirty break fluid can cause these symptoms. This happened a few more times to my wife and she decided she would no longer drive the car. I then started driving and again in a similar scenario in which I was breaking and ran over a manhole cover the breaks went to the floor and was difficult to stop the car. I again took it to another break specialist franchise and they could not find an issue with the car or on the internet although the breaks pedal has become soft and has remained that way. Break fluid was changed again for being dirty. My breaks have continued to be soft and will replicate the issue when braking and hitting a bump but appears to be only when the bump hits the front right wheel. I need to get my break pads replaced now and decided to research this issue again and I am finding that this is a very common problem. Why hasn't Ford recalled this product or doing anything to make it right with their customers.
Just very concerned. The brake hub s get extremely hot and the brake pads were no good I have less than 20'000 miles on my 2009 Ford Fusion. The car is drove very little and is garage kept. I just don't understand the concept from Ford motor to make a vehicle that the brake hubs get hot and wear out the pads. I had Ford vehicles for years and never has been a problem. Why do you allow a problem like this to go on. . This is a safety concern too. My older Ford vehicles never did have brakes that you questioned whether or not you would be able to stop at a traffic light. Now I worry that it may not stop. Just a few months ago it almost didn't stop at a traffic light. When I applied the brakes it continued to roll and I rolled thru four car lengths before it finally stopped. I was so frightened !! I too noticed Ford is recalling some of the newer for Fusions for this problem. Suggest that they recall all vechicles that have the brakes like what is on the Fusion . . . . Why does someone need to loose their lives to get a problem like this fixed?? the automobile industry is failing the consumers and lacking safety standards . Usa automobile industry can do better than this.
Brake pedal goes to the floor pads changed still doing same thing.
1908 Ford Fusion rear braking system, brake pads must be replaced at 25,000 miles. Rear rotors must be turned. Ford motor company refuses to admit problems after call to review issue with my purchased Fusion in 2008. Loss of rear braking can lead to incident's, crashes and injury. Dealer implied that this is an ongoing problem with taurus and Fusions. It is my understanding taurus has been recalled for rear brake problems associated with faulty brake pads.
