Vehicle has less than 100,000 miles and is exhibiting symptoms of a brake issue exactly as described in recall #19v904000. Have had vehicle examined and diagnosed at professional mechanic who determined that all likely causes of issue including master cylinder and air in system, were not the problem. Ford dealer says this vehicle is not under recall but it continues to exhibit the exact symptoms as described. The brake pedal is mushy with excessive travel prior to engaging. In a panic stop situation would likely not stop the vehicle.
I have no brakes. And I have no brake fluid going to my left rear brake caliper. I have changed the master cylinder and followed all everything it said on how to change it and to bleed it. I also have changed the abs motor and did the same thing bleed it and followed the instructions. I also changed the left rear brake caliper out with the brake hose and still no brakes or pressure. I was driving the car going home from work when I all sudden I had no brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor. It happened on a street in illinois by mazon on grand ridge blacktop that street is called county road 3000 and also north 21st road.
Took vehicle in to the local Ford dealership to fix brakes after rear brakes were completed and Ford replaced the brake master cylinder in attempt to bleeding the brakes Ford confirmed the brake control module is bad and needs replaced. There is an open recall currently for this part however do to no remedy realesed by Ford yet that claimed it would be available 1st quarter of the year 2021 its still not available today's date 03/09/21 . Ford refuses to put her in a vehicle till parts be come available and says she can buy the part now for 1700. 00 then when parts become available they will possibly replace again free of charge, now I dont believe its legal for her not to be taken care off over a safety recall and be basically told to kick sand . Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated thank u and also vehicle was determined not safe to drive by Ford.
Well it all began one day I was simply driving down the freeway and the brake pedal became soft after having just been working fine . I thought it was very strange, almost like when the brakes are replaced but not bled and there is air in the system. So I took it down to my local les schwab and they replaced my master cylinder and front brakes , including : new calipers , new pads , and resurfaced rotors , with no success. Now they looked into it and there is an ongoing recall described as - "abs valve may remain open after abs event " . My vehicle a 2010 Ford Fusion is listed as being affected but my VIN doesn't show a recall needed .
2010 Ford Fusion. No issue with brakes until 12/18/20. Parking in snow slush abs system briefly engaged, since exactly that event the brake pedal sinks to floor under foot pressure, required pumping to get full stop. No issue with master cylinder, fluid level, or brake cylinders, pedal firm with engine off, no leaking in any condition, pedal returns to full up position after release of foot pressure. Symptoms identical to those described in NHTSA campaign id number 19v904000. Has caused 'heart attack' brake pumping to stop without hitting cars in local traffic. Symptoms present at any speed.
Running moving forward brakes went to floor. Replaced all brake pads, brake calipers, front rotors and master cylinder. Engine off it has perfect brake pedal. Running it goes to floor . It is the hydraulic control unit. The car is in excellent shape and has 78,000 miles on it. It does not fall into recall manufacturing date it should. It started in morning after pulling out on street coming to first stop sign.
While driving on a city street, I came up on my turn and tried to slow down. The brakes started to apply and then went soft and the pedal sank to the floorboard as I continued to press on the brake pedal. I was afrsid that I could not slow down enough to safely make the turn. I had to pump the brakes repeatedly to slow down, but I had to apply the emergency brake to stop as the brakes would not fully stop the car. Checked brake fluid level which was above minimum, but filled to maximum and tried to bleed brakes. Drove home very cautiously. Replaced brake master cylinder which did not fix brake problem. Researched problem further online and found recall on 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, however the build dates do not include this car by approximately 2 months. Our Ford dealership refuses to honor the recall for this reason. Have also read other claims of 2011 Ford Fusions also having this same issue. It is quite evident that the recall did not extend far enough to protect other Fusion owners from this terrifying safety hazard. Considering taking this matter to local media as well.
My wife said sometimes her car doesn't want to stop and the pedal doesn't feel right. A few days ago a car in front of her made a sudden stop so she had to hit brakes and her pedal went to the floor so she had to swerve to avoid an accident. From that time forward the car had no brakes with pedal going to the floor. I replaced the master cylinder and it didn't change anything so I took it to long lewis Ford in hoover al. They charged to bleed the brake system which didn't change nothing. . . . Still no brakes. Next, they said that the master cylinder I installed could be defective so they charged to put on another one. . . . They said that the car does have brakes but pedal steal not right because the pedal goes halfway to the floor. The guy mike called and said that the car has brakes but the shop manager feels like the abs pump is bad so I told them to replace it because I want to be certain that the car is safe for my wife to drive. They replaced the abs pump and they said the brakes are great which means the pump was bad all along. The final bill was $2119. 00 which blew my mind. I checked to see if maybe there was a recall on a 2010 Ford Fusion and it was one for the same problem I had but my car VIN didn't match the recall. Same make, model, and year with the same problem but my VIN didn't match the recall. I truly feel like all the 2010 Fusion should be recalled and I should not have to pay all this money. It's not right. . . . Please respond and help. My # I 205 249 7270 . I have not picked vehicle up yet so I don't have a receipt to upload. . . . I want pick it up until tomorrow.
I understand there is a recall on most 2010 Ford Fusion brake control module. Unfortunately my VIN does not show up in this recall and the Ford dealership said this failure is exactly the same as the other ones they have seen. Once the dealership completed the repair, now they say the master cylinder is now also leaking which they agreed it was not when the car was brought in.
I was driving normally in my 2010 Ford Fusion on highway 31 and came up on a stop light, went to press my brakes and the pedal goes to the floor. This has been the case for the past couple of days, I did my research and found that the 2010 Fusion was recalled and the master cylinder needing to be replaced. My car does not qualify for the recall as it wasn't built in the time frame of getting that recall. I almost ran the red light and thought I wasn't going to be able to stop in time. I can't drive my car as it is not safe for the road!.
Hcu left front and right rear valves are potentially stuck closed. My mechanic attempted and failed the abs service bleed procedure. Verified pressure output from master cylinder (brand new) to abs hcu. Monitored max input pressure within spec at abs pressure transducer. Mechanic suspects hcu fault likely related to recent recall. I called Ford and while it matched the description of the mentioned recall, my VIN number did not qualify. Was told to have the maintenance performed and keep receipt for potential reimbursement in the future.
While driving on i85 in atlanta at highway speeds the vehicles ahead of me will brake suddenly causing me to jam my brakes all the way to the floor. Instead of stopping or slowing the vehicle, it continues to go forward and I almost rear end the car ahead of me. I replaced the master cylinder and all four rotors, brakes and calipers. All to no effect. At slow speeds it will pull to one side during braking or feel as if it is grabbing one side then the other instead of a single smooth pressure. At higher speeds you have to double pump to get the brakes to engage with any firmness. There is a abs control unit recall on this vehicle 19v904000 but is for plant specific vehicles. This recall needs to be expanded to all 2010 Ford Fusions. Im going to pay to have this fixed and hope the recall is expanded. As it is, it sits in my yard because we are too afraid to drive it.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not immediately stop and the pedal traveled to the floorboard and felt spongy. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who replaced the brake pads and master cylinder, but the failure continued. The mechanic determined that the abs was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 140,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the brake pedal had to be depressed to the floorboard to stop the vehicle. The power steering assist warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent where the master cylinder was check and was find and could not find a failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer, the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000. Aw.
The break pedal goes to the floor. It does not break at all. This issue started after an abs event. I changed the master cylinder and rotors/pads with out luck. I tried to bleed the abs pump using a scan tool and no changes.
Excess brake pedal travel to stop. Appears to be an issue with the brake abs module and not the brake master cylinder.
Reversing my car out of the driveway and the car would not brake. Lost all brakes in the car. Prior to this issue I always though the vehicle had very low brakes. I'd have to press the break very low to the floor to stop. When I lost the brakes I'm the car I initially thought the cause was due to bad calipers and rotors. After replacing all calipers under warranty and bleeding that was not the issue. Towed the car to torrington Ford and it was diagnosed as needing a master cylinder first which may not fix the problem and then a possible hcu replacement of the master cylinder doesn't correct he brake issue.
When trying to stop vehicle, the brake pedal lowers to floor and is slow to stop the car. Car continues to travel with foot on the pedal. All diagnostic tests on brakes and master cylinder are stating that brakes are working as they should with no problems to fix but the brake pedal does not stop the car. Everything that could be causing the pedal to lower to the floor and be slow to stop the vehicle has been checked multiple times. Pads are good, rotors are good, brake fluid good, no leaks, brake lines are good, no air in lines, master cylinder is good. According to social media outlets and Ford forums, there are hundreds of complaints with the same exact problem with the soft brake pedal and failure to stop the vehicle. So, the question is. . . Why has there not been a recall?.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the brake pedal went to the floor. There was no warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the conway heaton inc dealer (502-348-3929, located at 810 n 3rd st, bardstown, ky 40004) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle had no brakes. The technician replaced the master cylinder and the hydraulic control unit. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 154,493. Fe.
The brake are exhibiteing the same issue as NHTSA campaign #19v904000. Rarely, the brake pedal without warning will drop two inches to within 1/2 inch from the floorboard. This started after we had the brakes professionally flushed with the recommended and what the master cylinder cap indicated dot 3. My VIN is not on the NHTSA list, but the problem is identical. Currently in the shop having the completely flushed with dot 4. Started about a year and a half ago, but only became aware of the fix yesterday.
Driving during a snowstorm,I went to use the brakes. The anti lock brakes kicked in and since then the brake pedal is spongy sometimes the pedal goes to the floor. Have to pump the pedal. Master cylinder is good and brakes have been bled.
Brakes failed. Replaced master cylinder, and abs pump still no brakes. Electrical codes keep coming up. Rreplaced pads all around and rotor and caliper. Bleed system. With no power to car brake petal hard and power pedal goes right to the floor. System barely bleeds.
My breaks go in and out, the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor as I'm in motion on the road. It's happened in the highway and on city streets. Luckly I had fast reflex to punch the pedal a couple times and that made it a tad bit better. I had the master cylinder and booster replaced, and the problem is still ongoing. The mechanic said the next step would be the abs pump.
While driving normally on any type of road and coming to a stop when brakes are applied, pedal will softly go to the floor all the way and car will not stop unless pumped a few times. This started happening after a month when I bought this car from lang autos in lynnwood, washington. First time it happened when I had to stop abruptly and there was gravel on the road which engaged abs. As soon as abs was engaged brake pedal went all the way to the floor and my car hardly stopped causing me to run a red light. I was almost about to run into a pedestrian. This is a permanent issue and I have had rotors brake pads calipers checked. I have also had the brakes bled and tested for any leaks. It came out negative. Master cylinder works fine and there is no leaks in brake line. No leaks in any joints that connects to master cylinder and abs module. I have had my car tested and seems like the issue comes from abs module/controller that might need a replacement. It is a very costly part plus labor costs are huge. On top of that I have already spent hundreds of dollars in diagnosing cause and replacing parts that are not related to actual cost.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving unknown speeds, the brake pedal was applied, but felt spongy and failed to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the master cylinder needed to be replaced and the brakes needed to be bled. The repairs were completed, but the failure recurred. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 62,000.
My 2010 Ford Fusion's brake pedal suddenly began getting spongy a few months ago and remained like that indefinitely. The pedal would have to be depressed all the way to the floor for braking pressure to kick in. I was driving in my neighborhood one one day going about 20mph and the brakes became completely unresponsive after multiple depresses to slow for a speed bump. I ended up stopping the car with the hand brake. This was on November 28th 2018. The brakes haven't worked since, I took it to the mechanic and they replaced my brake master cylinder and bled the system. That did nothing. After further analysis they concluded it's the abs assembly that has failed - told me there's nothing they can do about that as the abs module can only be programmed at a Ford dealership. I went in to get a quote, the needed abs components will run me approximately $1800 not including labor costs. Outrageous. I'm a college student and to top it all of I lost my part-time job I had due to not having a car to go to work. Please is their something that can be done about this?.
After replacing front and back brakes and master cylinder, continue to have the problem of "soft" brakes. I have to push all the way down to stop and does not stop on time.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the brakes failed. The contact stated that the brake pedal hit the floorboard when it was depressed. Caruso Ford Lincoln of long beach, California was made aware of the failure and stated that there was a possible leak in the master cylinder or that there was a faulty brake booster. Upon a diagnostic test, the dealer stated vehicle failed the hydraulic abs test and that it needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000. Ad.
Every time I push my brakes to stop, my brakes goes all the way down to the floor. I've replaced my master cylinder and my brake booster but it's dong the same thing.
When driving, particularly in stop and go traffic, it feels like the brakes fail. The pedal goes all the way to the floor and then I have to pump the brake 2 or 3 times before I can get the car to stop. Twice it came really close to not stopping at all. The pads are fine, master cylinder is fine and the brake fluid level is fine as well. Car has approximately 97,000 miles on it and the issue has been happening intermittently for the past 10 days, with the last few days occurring 3-4 times per day.
Brake a failure investigation 2010 Ford Fusion se 2. 5l i4. Brake pedal went to the floor while driving my 2010 fod Fusion se manual transon highway. Alerted by dashboard that brake fluid was low. While putting new fluid in, noticed a leak in drivers side wheel. Repaired a broken brake line & replaced caliper at drivers side rear. Could not get brake lines to bleed properly after repair, resulting in mushy pedal with decreased braking ability. Took it to Ford dealer and received a work order stating that it needs an abs hydraulic control unit, brake pads, rotors, etc. . . Cost of repairs = $5,000 replaced all four brake pads and rotors and passenger rear caliper, as well as brake master cylinder. Attempt to bleed brakes even with the key in ignition & car on. No air coming out of brake line but, brake pedal still not building pressure and going to the floor. Found out that a valve in hcu had tendency to stick providing this exact result.
When driving brakes became very weak almost to the floor, we replaced the brakes with still no good pedal. Then we replaced the master cylinder, once it was replaced it would not bleed, and still no brakes. We called the Ford dealer and was advised the Fusions were difficult to bleed once master cylinders were replaced. We sent it out for diagnostics at the Ford dealer and were charged $98. 00. They called and said the system needed to be bleed before they could give us an exact answer of what was wrong and the would be an additional $100. They called a few days later and said it needed a master cylinder. We told them we just had replaced it. They said maybe it was a faulty part, so we picked up the car exchanged the part and still have the same issue. Called back to the Ford dealer and was told the only other thing it could be was the hcu and that was about $1600 to change. So 2 tow bills, and $200 later we still have no brakes. After extensive research we have seen this is a very common issue with the Ford Fusions and this is a very dangerous issue. Ford should issue a recall ! losing brakes while driving is dangerous ! I would like a Ford rep to contact me !.
Brakes went soft, replaced the master cylinder then I didn't have any brakes at all. Took it to my mechanic and he thinks the abs system is bad, I read a lot of comments on line to see that this is a common problem. I did stop on snow and the abs system work then after that the brakes went soft.
The brakes on my 2010 Ford Fusion go to the floor and I need to pump them continuously to get my car to stop. When it first happened I took it to a shop and they said it did not have brake fluid. I had my brakes flushed and brake fluid added. The brakes were good for about two weeks and then they again went to the floor. I took them into a brake shop and they did a reverse bleed, checked my pads, my abs system, my master cylinder, flushed them again and did not find any leaks or any problems. My brakes worked for about two days and then it happened again. Now it is a daily occurrence and I do not know what to do other than replace the m/c which I have been told is not bad. No leaking behind it or around it. I am at a loss. Something is wrong with my brakes and I have read that other 2010 Ford Fusion owners have had this problem.
