36 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate onto the highway, the wrench warning icon illuminated as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic for inspection, who advised that the throttle body and engine gasket would need replacing. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,000 and the current mileage was 72,000. Updated 3/28/cn.

37 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Car stalled on highway- had to pull over to shoulder and restart auto ran for at about 5 mph- did not react to accelerator.

38 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Vehicle almost stalled like it was starving for gas. Has done it several times while driving normal highway speeds.

39 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2013

During the month of September, my car began suddenly shutting off while I was driving. This happened multiple times on the highway and surface roads. I would pull over, turn the car off and wait a few minutes. The car would work fine afterwards. I first had the battery checked which revealed a bad battery, I had it replaced. The car continued to have symptoms after the new battery was installed. I also noticed the stalling happened more when I filled the gas tank completely. I finally took the car back to the place I purchased it for diagnostics. I discovered that the throttle body was defective. I was told by a tech that the manufacturer had assembled new throttle bodies to replace the originals as the original throttle body did not work properly. Apparently, the intake was not opening/closing properly therefore the engine was not getting enough gas at times. The shop was able to pull codes from the previous stall events, p2111 & p2112. They replaced the throttle body assembly, ~ $300. 00. I see many complaints regarding this issue and expect/hope a recall will be issued in the near future. As a side note, my abs light was on as well. There was a known recall on the driver's side air bag assembly, shorted to ground. Ford replaced the air bag assembly at no charge. I hope this information is helpful.

40 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2013

Was driving through a subdivision when car started to jerk and stall out. Was able to pull to the side, restart vehicle and return to the road. This has since happened 3 times within the past week, once upon a 4 lane boulevard. I believe Ford motor CO. Is aware of this issue yet has done nothing to recall and repair the part. I do not feel safe in this car as no warning is given that it is going to die. It just dies and lord help you! I plan to have it towed to the dealership tomorrow and trade it in on a Chrysler product.

41 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2013

I was driving on a main road and after accelerating through a light, my car stopped accelerating and my "wrench" light came on. I could no longer accelerate and the car began jumping back and forth as if it were trying to switch gears. Luckily I wasn't on a major highway. I shut the car off and turned it back on and the light went away briefly. After pulling onto a side road it happened again and when I put it in park, my rpm gauge began fluctuating and I was not pressing the gas pedal. It also began hard shifting and it seemed as though the transmission was going to drop. Not sure if this is a computer issue, but it is clearly not safe. It stalled several more times on the way home. It's definitely not safe to drive and thankfully I was not on a major highway where lives could have been at risk. I researched this weekend and clearly other people have had the same issue. I can't believe this isn't a recall. Hopefully Ford takes care of this before someone gets seriously hurt.

42 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

The car stalled and the engine light and battery light went on. I shut off the car and started the car again. It works for a while and sometimes starts again.

43 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

Driving 75mph on highway vehicle suddenly without warning or signals stalls. The vehicle dropped the speed from 75mph to 10mph as I continuously was trying to accelerate the speed but was unsuccessful. The code of p211 throttle body is defective & thank god no vehicle was behind me cause it could of caused a tremendous crash accident.

44 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while driving 70 mph. The contact coasted onto the shoulder, restarted the engine and resumed normal function however, the failure became recurring. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home and was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The failure and current mileage was 92,063.

45 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2013

My 2010 Ford Fusion *just* turned 30k miles;the basic warranty ended 7/31/13. On 10/13 driving 60 mph on I-95 in the middle lane in heavy traffic the car suddenly stalled-no engine power/response when I pressed on the accelerator. A wrench light was lit on my dash. With no engine power to quickly pull over, I was afraid of being hit & barely coasted over 3 lanes to the breakdown lane. I came to a complete stop & it started bucking. I realized the car had not stalled--it had lost engine power. I put it in park, turned the ignition off & on to start the car. It started fine, idled fine, no wrench light lit; I eased my way back into traffic. Almost immediately the same thing happened: the car seemed to stall-lost all ability to accelerate. The wrench light was lit; this time the engine light was lit. Fortunately, I was in the right-hand lane & could coast into the breakdown lane; the car started bucking again. I again put the car in park, turned the ignition completely off & on again to start the car. Again, the car seemed to run fine, the wrench light went out, & the engine light stayed lit. I gingerly reentered traffic & drove home slowly in the right-hand lane. My mechanic retrieved a service code of p2111 which is the throttle body assembly. I researched-this is known problem, there have been many complaints, there is a TSB, & there has been communication between NHTSA & Ford motor company. I called my dealer, explained, gave them the code, told them what I found & that it should fall under the emissions defect warranty (it is technically an emissions defect), it is a known issue and since my car was barely out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty & only has 30,000 miles on it, it was a goodwill matter. Fearful of breaking down again I had the car towed ~30 miles to the dealer. They said it was the throttle body assembly & it was not covered by warranty. The repair cost would be $420. 58!!.

46 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2013

Car stalled then died started again and did the same thing in 200feet three times then I had it towed.

47 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2013

Was driving about 35 going to make a left hand turn and wrench light came on car sounded as it was getting no gas and stalled as turning in. I was almost in an accident.

48 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2013

My car, 2010 Ford Fusion se, has now stalled on me three times with in the matter of 3 months. The first time it stalled I was pulling onto a main road and taking a left, having to cross both lanes and it stalled as soon as I tried to accelerate across both lanes, I barely made it across both lanes to pull over and get out of the way. The second time was similar except I was taking a right onto a street and could pull right over. The third time it stalled on me I was driving approx. . 50mph over a bridge and had to pull over where the traffic was coming onto and off of the highway and thought I was going to get hit. My car is not paid for and now I need to spend almost $400. 00 right before christmas. . . I can not believe this isn't a recall after reading over 600 similar situations. . . If this were to result in an injury or fatality would that make it a recall??.

49 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2013

Going down highway at about 50 mph when the car just seemed as if it was not getting any gas. The gas pedal would not work. Second time pulling out after stopping at stop sign and when pulled out in the middle of the road it stalled out again, tried pushing gas peddle to make it go and felt as if the gas peddle was not working at all.

50 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2013

The throttle body on my 2010 Ford Fusion se failed. My car lost power and stalled out four times while driving in traffic. I have replaced the part and would certainly like to see Ford recall this part.

51 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2013

My car stalled on a busy highway (21 n). Luckily I was in the right lane and could coast off to the side. I turned my car off and then back on and it was fine. It happened two more times; one while going to work and yesterday when dropping my elderly mother off at her home. I was afraid to drive the highway to work as there is a lot of construction and nowhere to turn off the road should it happen again. I am now sitting at the Ford shop and they tell me it is the throttle body and will cost $560 to fix. This car is barely three years old and I am a little disappointed to find that there have been so many complaints about this particular part without a resolution. I no longer feel safe driving in my car.

52 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

Vehicle stalled during morning traffic. Pulled to side and restarted. Stalled again. Had to get car towed to dealership. Throttle body needed to be replaced.

53 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

I was driving home from work when my car stalled and a wrench light came on. I immediately pulled over to the side of the road, turned the car off and on, and drove to my mechanic. He drove around to try and re create the problem. After 100 or so miles it happened again and it turned out to be codes p2111 and p2112 which turned out to be throttle body codes. I had to pay to get the throttle body replaced because it is not covered under any warranty and is not a recalled part.

54 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2013

Tl - the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 46,000. The VIN was not available. Kmj.

55 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2013

While traveling on i64 Sunday September 8th on the way home from williamsburg , my car , while in a lot of heavy traffic on the interstate , stalled and the " wrench " light came on . Luckily I had good control of the car to pull off the interstate . The car lost all power and wouldn't response to throttle input. The car was shut off and after 10 minutes, attempt to restart car which was successful. Car run normally for about 140 additional miles, then stalled to low power and lack of throttle response yet again. Turning off and then turning back on was unsuccessful in getting the vehicle to run normal again. Tow truck was called and vehicle towed to local Ford dealership. Was informed that the throttle body was the culprit and was on backorder. If this is a known problem, why are people being put at risk for serious injury or death, without being informed of the potential of probable stalling.

56 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

I accelerated after a red light and was traveling up an incline and suddenly I had no engine power. I thought car had stalled but all lights were on in the dashboard and I still had steering capability. I coasted down the bridge and pulled off into the first public parking I could find. The car was idling very rough. I shut it off, waited a few minutes and restarted. It started fine and traveled ok on the way home. It seemed a little hesitant a couple times but it didn't repeat the "limp-mode" that it was in previously.

57 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

Just four months after purchasing my so called "certified pre-owned 172 point pass inspected 2010 Ford Fusion" the car starts acting up while driving down a main street in the middle of town, the car lost all acceleration right after I started taking off from a stop light. The wrench light then came on and the car started to stall out as this was going on I'm also trying to turn left, which was a little scary because I basically cut someone off while turning cuz I had no acceleration whatsoever to avoid them. This is a serious problem and I'm not the only one whose had to go through it from all the same complaints I see on the internet. This malfunctioning throttle body needs to be recalled before someone gets seriously hurt!.

58 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

I was travelling down a 2 lane highway (state road, PA) when the car began to rapidly lose accelaration and seemed to stall. The engine jerked execessively but never turned off. No amount of pressing the accelartor made any difference. I coasted to the side of the road safely. Lucky no one hit me. Turned engine off and called for roadside assistence. Turned the vehhicle on a few minutes later and everything was fine. The yellow wrench light came on when accelartor lost control. Next day - while driving to work - it happened on rt13n DE and again I was lucky to be able to quickly get to the emergency lane. Yellow wrench light and no control on accerlator with engine vibrating heavily but does not turn off. Switched off and turned on - everything is fine. Same day evening - returning from work - it happens as I get on the entry ramp to i95 n DE. Narrowly missed someone rear ending me. Yellow light, heavy vibration and no accelaration. Turn off and turn on, everything is fine. Being in downtown wilmington - no emergency lane and had to do this right in the middle of the road during rush hour. This sudden loss of power is extremely scary and with 2 children in the back seat - I fear for thier safety. Imagine if this is happens on the interstate with a 18 wheeler behind you. Will be taking to dealer first thing in the morning. Vehicle is serviced and maintained only by Ford. No one has touched my vehicle other than Ford authorized dealer and have not missed a single Ford recommended maintenance service.

59 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

Driving on highway, travelling at appx 65-70 miles per hour - car started rattling and then slowed down considerably - car did not stall, but pressing on the gas pedal and the car did not accelerate. Was able to safely pull over, turned the car off, tried to drive, but the car wouldn't drive - engine worked fine, but car would not move forward or backward. Yellow wrench light came on. Had car towed to dealership. Was told it needs a new throttle body assembly.

60 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2013

I was driving and a wrench came on my dash, the car stalled and lost all throttle. Its happened to me before but now its doing it alot more. I am afraid I will get hurt.

61 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2013

Driver was complaining that the vehicle was running rough while driving. The vehicle stalled a couple of times and the driver was able to get it restarted and drive it into the nearest Ford dealership. It was determined after diagnostic that it was the throttle body that had gone out and needed to be repaired. The shop told us it would be a minimum of 3-4 days before they received the throttle body assembly before they would even be able to start the repairs.

62 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2013

While on the freeway doing approximately 65-75 mph, my vehicle lost power, the wrench light came on the dash, and the vehicle began to stall. I pulled over to the side of the freeway, turned the car off, and restarted. It was fine after restarting. A couple days later the incident occurred again. Within 4 days, my vehicle began to have 4 episodes on my 11 mile commute. These issues during rush hour traffic prompted me to bring it in to the dealership ASAP as I did not feel safe driving it any longer. My vehicle is currently at the dealership awaiting diagnosis and repair. After a google search, I am fairly certain that the diagnosis will involve the throttle body.

63 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

Due to the failure of the throttle body, the car engine quits at various speeds or will not accelerate and stalls with on coming traffic. When this happens, the cars power brakes and steering fail to work creating a very unsafe event. Ford has had hundreds or thousands of problems with this according to the local dealership, if fact they have several cars waiting for parts (throttle body) to repair in their back lot. I have been promised by Ford customer service the part would be shipped for over three or four weeks, but they have shipped none due to the manufacture on back order or putting the parts in "new" cars to sell. We have no choice but to keep driving the vehicle doing this time. Ford refuses to provide a rental car since my car is "out of warranty", in the mean time, they will not ship the part to repair. If, according to the dealership, they are having this problem with multiple models, why has this not be a recall by Ford to fix or furnish a replacement while they can't send the part to fix the safety problem. (when the car quits at 35-60mph in traffic, this is a safety problem. ).

64 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2013

Upon accelearting from a dead stop at a traffic signal, I could not accelerate past 15 mph. I pulled over to the side of the road an the car was idling very roughly and on the verge of stalling. I turned the car off, waited 1-2 minutes, restarted the car and the car was running "normally". I don't recall if any of the dashboard lights came on. I took the vehicle into my local Ford dealer and was told that the issue is the throttle body and it needs to be replaced and that the stalling could happen at any given time. Unfortunately the part id on back-order for 1-2 months so I need to live with this dangerous issue for some time. The car is a 2010 Ford Fusion. I am the orignal owner (purchased in Dec '09) and this is the first occurrence of this stalling issue.

65 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2013

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the wrench warning icon illuminated. The contact merged to the shoulder of the road and was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the failure could be related to the electronic throttle body but suggested the vehicle be officially diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 33,733.

66 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2013

I was driving about 60 mph on the highway, and the engine stopped. I coasted to the side of the road, and turned off the key to reset the alarm code. The car started and drove normally for about 2 miles, then the engine stopped again. Within 5 miles the car would barely run at all, the engine was mis-firing and clunking along at 2 mph and stalling every few feet. I had no previous indications of a problem. The car was running fine, and then within 5 miles it was completely un-drivable. The problem was failure of the throttle body, cost $525 to repair. There are many reports of this problem on the internet.

67 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2013

The car stalled out completely during driving, no power was left to drive with, luckily it was in a quiet street!!.

68 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2013

Driver was driving when the vehicle started to lose power and was getting slower and slower. When the driver pulled over the vehicle was idling and running rough. The vehicle stalled and the driver tried to restart it after letting it sit for a few minutes. She was able to get the vehicle to state back up, but it kept stalling. Vehicle had to be towed to a Ford dealership where it was determined that the throttle body needed to be replaced.

69 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2013

Sitting at a light and the vehicle started idling very rough - dipping below 500 rpm and surging to about 1200 rpm. Car went into limp mode when I hit the gas. Pulled into a gas station, shut car off, restarted after about 30 seconds. Ran fine for about 5 minutes. Then proceeded to idle rough at the next three stoplights - this time not surging. Car eventually stalled and had to be restarted all 3 times. Seemed to run ok on the highway, but stalled once more at a light after getting ff the highway. Idled it in driveway when I got home. Idling very rough but hasn't surged or stalled now.

70 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2013

My 2010 Ford Fusion has stalled several times while driving and while attempting to accelerate from a stopped position. Several times it has almost caused me to stall in the middle of a busy intersection when turning left, stop while driving on a busy freeway, and quicly accelerate when my foot has been on the brake peddle.
