Going on the highway at 70 mph, engine just dies on me, forcing me to pull over, it looses all power but it goes to a very low rpm's for a while, engine shakes and after a couple of minutes just turn off, I turn it back on and it runs like nothing happened. I was out of time approximately 200 miles away from home, this condition happened to me for about 15 times in a 100 miles range. Some times it takes place just after leaving a parking lot, some other times at 20 mph so it is very unpredictible but at the same time pretty dangerous. Every once on a while check engine light goes off, then it is not there.
While driving on the interstate, approx. 65-70 mph, the vehicle shudders, loses all throttle response, and the wrench light and check engine light illuminate on the dash display. The vehicle does not shut off or stall, but it does enter limp mode. Once the vehicle is shut off and restarted the wrench light is no longer illuminated and the vehicle will operate normally. This situation repeated 4 different times on the incident date. After speaking with the service manager at the local Ford dealership the problem was acknowledged as a defective throttle body.
Leaving driveway vehicle appeared to loose all power from the engine, it did not stall, engine indicator light came on the first attempt to leave backed car up into drive way. Checked all fluids engine oil, transmission oil were both in the appropriate range. Restarting the car engine light cleared, second attempt to leave car hesitated and then did stall check engine light returned and stayed illuminated. Restarting the vehicle and returned home. Let vehicle set about ten minutes, restarted engine light stayed on, drove car short distance about . 25 miles did not stall or hesitate however check engine light remained illuminated.
60 mph on highway. Wrench light came on. Lost power. Coasted to side of road (luckily safely). Turned car off. Restarted after a few minutes. Continued about 1/2 mile. Happened again. Did same thing. Continued another 1/2 mile. Did it again. Engine shuttered this time. Check engine light remains on. Was able to restart vehicle and get home (approximatley 2 miles). Happened once shortly after used vehicle puchase in 2011 but never did again until now. Internet seach indicates defective throttle body part is cause. Very unsafe particularly in highway driving when this happens! just purchased a second 2011 Ford Fusion se (2011) for our teenager. Concerned about our child's safety. Ford needs to issue a recall!.
The steering wheel starting shaking as the car lost power and eventually completely stalled. After several minutes it started but we didn't even get a mile further before the same thing happened again. As this was happening the check engine light came on and a little wrench lamp lit up on the instrument panel. After about 20 minutes we were able to start the car again and drive it to a Ford dealership several miles away where they replaced the throttle body 4 days later. It took them that long to get the part in because they had trouble finding one since so many other people were having the same problem.
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion se 2. 5 and my check engine light came on along with a wrench light and my car went in to "limp mode" and my car lost power as I was turning left with traffic coming right at me, I was barely able to make it across the road without being hit!.
I was driving on my way to work when my car lost power I pulled over turned the car off. Upon restarting it the check engine light was on, I preceeded to work. When I got off of work and went home the check engine light was off. A week later the symptoms happened again this time it was more then once. Close to a total of 10 times in a one hour period.
As I was driving the car the engine lost power and the check engine light and wrench light came on this happened at least 10 times in a 24 mile drive (to and from work) auto zone says it is the throttle body sticking. I went to carcomplaints. Com and my car is not the only 2010 Fusion experiencing this issue I feel Ford needs to recall these vehicles and fix the throttle body before someone gets killed.
As I was driving on the hwy, the car would not accelerate and died, except the power was still on. I was unable to accelerate and had to put my flashers on and pull over, although this hwy doesn't have a shoulder, just a grass median. There is a curb so I was still forced to just come to a stop in the middle of the hwy but luckily I was able to get in the left lane. As the car comes to a stop, it shakes. I have to turn power off by turning key, then turn key to start car again. It turns over a couple times, then starts and I'm able to drive again. It did this again 2 more times while driving that same evening. The next day, nothing, then the third day, same thing. Now the check engine light is on and remains. Of course when this happened each time, I was on the hwy and had my kids in the back seat, ages 7 and 9. I mostly feared not being able to start the car again as I was unaware of what the issue was at first. After research and using a diagnostic tool, I have learned it is the throttle body. Please provide recall instructions so that I may be able to get this repaired at no cost to me ASAP. Thank you.
The morning of July 8, 2013 I was driving at approximately 70 mph on a major interstate (with construction) when my car stalled. My check engine light was flashing and the throttle control/transmission wrench flashing. I at least had enough momentum to go about 100 feet to where there was a shoulder that they were not doing construction on. I ended up shutting my car off and waiting a few seconds. I then turned my car back on to see if it still had the problem. Everything appeared to be working fine. I ended up getting back on the interstate and about 5 miles down it happen to do the same thing. At this point I got off the freeway ¿ shut my car off again. This time I turned my car back on and my check engine light was still flashing. I was about one mile from a Ford dealership. I took it there and found out that it was throttle body. The part is on back order and the dealer ship will not receive the part for 7 to 10 business days. This doesn¿t include the days that it is going to take them to install the part. I am nervous to drive my car even after this part is fixed. I was driving at 70 mph and could of easily got into an accident with all the construction that was going around. I hope that Ford takes these complaints serious and takes some action. Someone can get seriously hurt with this issue and I hope it doesn't take that for Ford to take action!.
2010 Ford Fusion: going down the freeway at 70 and then all of a sudden started losing power, no acceleration and down to 55 at which time I was able to get to the side of the road before it died. I let it sit a couple of minutes and tried to start it - started fine. The Ford garage put it on the diagnostic machine but I was told because the check engine light did not come on there was no memory to show what may have happened. It ran fine for about two weeks and then the same thing happened. Took it back to Ford - but was told again - nothing they could do because the diagnostic does not show what the problem is. After my own research on the web I have found that this is probably a problem with the throttle body assembly and that Ford knows about - but my local garage does not want to fix it without knowing for sure that is the problem. I feel very unsafe in this vehicle - maybe the next time I will not be able to get off the freeway/road before it completely stalls.
I was driving down the highway at 70 mph and my car stalled. The wrench symbol lit up and my check engine light came on. I pulled over, shut the engine off, and started it again. It happened again about 5 minutes later, and has continued to happen several times.
As I was driving to the store my car stalled, there was a complete loss of power. A wrench symbol appeared as well as the check engine light. After restarting the vehicle I was able to move another 200 feet before it happened again, repeatedly I would need to put it in park, shut off the vehicle and begin again. This has happened about 10 times since last night. I am not unable to safely travel to work or any other location due to this situation.
I was driving in heavy city traffic at approximately 55 miles per hour, when the car suddenly lost all power. The engine felt "disconnected" from the transmission. I could push the gas pedal all I wanted, but there was no response from the engine. The car continued to roll under it's own momentum, but because of the sudden loss of power, I was very nearly rear-ended by the car behind me. I was in the left lane, and because I was coasting down to a stop quickly, my only choice was to pull into the center turn lane of the 5-lane road. Traffic continued to speed past me as I stopped in the center lane. As I stopped, the engine ran incredibly roughly. It was stumbling and missing like it wasn't getting enough air. There was a yellow wrench icon on my dashboard, but no "check engine light". I shut down, waited a minute, and refired the car. The car ran perfectly smoothly after that. I did some checking, and it appears to be a throttle body problem. It appears to be very widespread on 2010 and 2011 Ford's. Please make them recall this. It's a huge safety concern. I'm lucky it was just me in the car, and I knew what to do. What if my wife and baby were in the car, and she wasn't as lucky? what if the guy behind me wasn't as quick on his brakes??.
My wife was driving the car and it lost power and as she descrided "it started to buck". There was little response and the orange wrench light came on. She turned off the car and started it back up. The car was fine and a couple miles down the road the check engine light came on and it did it again. She turned the car off and started it again. She was able to get it home. I looked at it the following day and contacted my local Ford dealer. Speaking to a technician, he told me a diagnostic probably wouldn't bring anything up since the lights were now off and the computer had reset itself. On Sunday June 30th, 2013, I was driving approximately 55 mph when I pressed the accelorator to switch lanes and there was no response from the engine. The orange wrench light came on and my wife told me that thats exactly what had happend to her. Fortunately, there was little traffic and I was able to coast to a nearby parking lot. I turned the car off and let it sit for about 5 minutes. When I started it back up, it idled rough and quickly smoothed out. It sounds like there are many similer issues with the throttle body on this vehicle. I stopped reading after 55 reports all listing the same issue. A recall should be placed on this part since it causes a high hazard/major safety issue.
I was driving on a highway going about 40 and the car stalled and lost all power with no response to pressing the pedal. It was idling very rough and the wrench light and check engine light came on. I shut the car off and restarted and it seemed fine until I got on the interstate. While driving on the interstate it stalled around 15 times in 20 miles. It stalled going 75 mph a few times and also stalled countless times in traffic when I was stopped and tried to accelerate. This was very scary and is an extremely dangerous issue. On the way home I experienced the same problem and rode with my hazards on in fear of being rear-ended.
As I drove my 2010 Ford Fusion se 6 speed manual transmission up to a speed of 50 mph, I was noticing a couple jerks of acceleration and then completely loosing power. I was able to pull over, come to a complete stop and turn the vehicle off and restart it. App-on restarting I was able to make it to auto zone where I was informed that my fuel injectors probably needed a good cleaning. So I bought some cleaner and ran I through my engine. That seemed to have worked until 3 days later I was coming home with my sister and her friend on the freeway, during rush hour driving 75mph this time, and my car didn't only stall once, but three times on my drive home. However, this time my check engine light came on so when I arrived back how and dropped of my sister and her friend I drove to auto zone and advanced auto parts to get an obd ii reading. Both readings were p2111, meaning that my throttle actuator was stuck open and not responding to the gas peddle. Now both companies suggested that I just clean my throttle body and that would fix the problem. Before I did this I call my Ford dealer to see if this part was under warranty or any kind of recall and was informed that it was not under warranty or recall. They also suggested that I just clean the throttle body and that would fix my problem. So I cleaned the throttle body, but now the car is stalling more than before. I tried looking up the part so that I could replace it but found out that Ford has already discontinued that part and is telling people to by the new part, but they never did a recall for the part. This particular part controls the air flow into the engine, if it malfunctions the throttle body closes up and the car idles, no matter how fast you are going. This is a sever safety issue that Ford needs to take responsibility for. If they don't someone can be seriously injured, or worse, killed.
During initial acceleration the car will lose power and start shaking sporadically. The car will not stall but it does not accelerate even when the gas peddle is depressed. The car has to be restarted to stop behavior. Check engine light appeared after the behavior persisted for about a week. Brought car to an auto zone for an odbii reading. The codes that were reported are as follows: p2111: throttle actuator control system - stuck open. P0457: evap small leak detected brought car to Ford dealer as problem persisted. Ford dealer diagnosed problem as electronic throttle body failure. Electronic throttle body was replaced.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the check engine light. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.
On June 18, 2013 while driving home from work I was stopped a yield sign waiting for traffic to clear which would allow me to enter a main road. When traffic was clear I pressed the accelerator and began to proceed. Within one or two seconds I lost all power in my accelerator and the rpms were not moving in my dashboard. As I steered my vehicle to the side of the road my car began to jerk as I put my vehicle in park; roughly 100 feet from where I pulled from. It is important to note the wrench on the dashboard turn on when my vehicle came to rest. I turned my car off and put my hazards on. I waited several seconds then turn the car on. It had trouble starting but did start. I noticed the wrench on again but it quickly turned off. If the road was not clear when I pulled from the yield sign I would have caused and accident after starting my vehicle and proceeding down the road about 1 mile the vehicle had the same sequence of losing power in the accelerator and jerking to a stop as I put the vehicle in park. This time the road had widened to a tow lane road overpass of an interstate. My vehicle came to a stop just before the entrance to the interstate. The posted speed limit is 35 mph but people typically accelerate to 50 mph preparing to enter the highway. Coming to a stop before the interstate on ramp thankfully did not cause an accident but did cause a small traffic slow down as I pulled to the side of the road. Again I was able to start the vehicle with a little trouble and this time I noticed the wrench and check engine light on. After dropping my vehicle off on June 19, 2013 I received a call from the Ford dealership advising the issue was related to the throttle body and that it would need to be replaced. I authorized the work because I need a reliable car and do not want to fear for my safety while driving the vehicle.
Driving and lost power, car engine died. Wrench icon came on on the ger indicator. Sputtered when coming to stop and had to shut car off and restart. When restarted I had no odemeter or gas mileage indicator on dash. Did another 2 times until I reached my destination, approx 3 -5 miles away. I was out of town when happened and I called my Ford dealer and explained and the service manager stated he was 95% sure it was the throttle body. He also stated I might not be able to get fixed right away as to the possibility of no parts available as a known issue. Had to finally stop at a Ford dealer on Sunday on our return trip as kept happening, repeatedly and too unsafe to drive any further as we were not getting any further than 5 miles apart before it kept happening and 2 of us had to stay overnight in a hotel until the Ford dealer opened Monday am. On the 4th time this happened, a check engine light finally came on. . Not prior to this though. The Ford dealer confirmed it was the throttle body and we did have replaced at that time.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 40,000.
My wife was driving her 2010 Ford Fusion sel awd at about 30 mph. The car suddenly lost acceleration and the yellow wrench appeared along with the check engine light. She turned the car off and restarted it. The symptoms disappeared and the car ran normally. However, within a few miles it happened again. I checked the dtc with my scanner and got both p2111 and p2112. Both are related to the throttle body. Ford is back ordered on this part and the car is not drive able without it. If the problem had happened at a higher rate of speed or in traffic, it would have been a dangerous situation.
On 5/22 dashboard message to check gas inlet after fueling. After doing that the message went away. 5/23 check engine light came on, took it by the dealer. 5/24 dealer cleared codes and said they couldn't find a problem. 6/4 my car started sputtering, lost acceleration when pressing the gas pedal. Coasted to the side of the road, car sputtered some more and shut off. Sat a minute, turned it back on and drove home about 2 miles. Check engine light went off. 6/5 check engine light came back on. I scheduled an appointment to have it rechecked. Was told I needed to have the evap canister purge valve replaced and the gas inlet assembly replaced. I opted to have the evap canister purge valve replaced because no warranty and couldn't afford $700 repair. 6/6, husband drove the car home, all was fine. 6/7 the car lost acceleration, I pulled to the side of the road again, it sputtered and shut off. The wrench light came on but then went off. Pulled over, restarted it, it was fine for about 3 miles. With no warning, the car lost all power pulling out into the road way. I coasted the car, put it in park and restarted it. There was no lane to pull over so I was in the road way. Started driving again, car shut off with no warning at a traffic light. Did the same thing, put it in park and restarted. Got going again so I could pull over somewhere safer, and got into a turn lane, it shut off and I had to coast across the intersection to park it. Very scary!! got car towed back to Ford. 6/7 and 6/10 mechanic still couldn't figure out the problem. 6/11 I get a "recommended repair" email, $1800 to replaced vct solenoid phaser, bolt, valve cover gasket, frt crank seal, diamond washer and crank bolt,ta-30 sealer, oil and filter. Code p052b, said it's a timing issue. The car is only 3 years old. Warrany expired, no recalls and Ford service can't be sure this will fix the problem!!.
The first incident occurred a month ago. As I was accelerating from a stopped position at a stop light, the car's engine seemed to lose power and wrench (throttle control/transmission) light came on. I rolled to a stop at the corner of the intersection, and put thevehicle in park. In park, the engine began to shake so, I turned the vehicle off. After a minute I turned the vehicle back on, the car seemed to run fine afterwards with no check engine light. I called the service center at the Ford dealership to find out if I should have this checked out and was told no since the light was no longer on. Today(5/22/13), the car stalled again. This time I was going 50 mph and had to pull promptly to shoulder to avoid being hit by the unsuspecting driver behind me. I turned off the engine and restarted the car. I was able to go a few feet before the car stalled again. This time the check engine light came on, and I again pulled over and turned the car off again. This continued to happen several more times on my drive home. I am having the car towed to a Ford dealership tomorrow to find out the cause. This is very dangerous and there were several times that I had to quickly put my hazards on and get to the shoulder, luckily never causing an accident. ## VIN failed ##.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While driving at 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who diagnosed that the vent canister kit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. Updated 6/3/cn.
While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph, the car loss all power and the transmission began to vibrate excessively in a jerking motion with an illumination of the wrench symbol. The warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The failure occurred nine times at various speeds while trying to get home. The check engine light came on remained on once we arrived home. Car has been at Ford dealer for two weeks now waiting on a fule body throttle which is apparently on back order nationwide. Why there is not a recall on this very dangerious mechanical issue is beyond me!.
The first incident occurred a few months ago. As I was accelerating from a stopped position at a stop light, the car's engine seemed to lose power and wrench light came on. I rolled to a stop at the corner of the intersection, and put the vehicle in park. In park, the engine began to shake so, I turned the vehicle off. After a minute I turned the vehicle back on, the car seemed to run fine afterwards with no check engine light. Yesterday (4/30/13), the car stalled again. This time I was going 40 mph and had to pull promptly to shoulder to avoid being hit by the unsuspecting driver behind me. I turned off the engine and restarted the car. I was able to go a few feet before the car stalled again. This time the check engine light came on, and I was unable to operate the vehicle above 900 rpms. I had the car towed to a Ford dealership who said I needed a new throttle body assembly. The car had around 38,000 miles at the time of incident. Upon research, I discovered this is a know problem, and Ford has yet to issue a recall to prevent future crashes and injury. Something needs to be done!!.
I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion on the interstate, at approximately 70 miles per hour, when I started feeling it "surge". It was in cruise control at the time, and it felt like it was surging up a couple of mph over the set point, and then falling back a couple of mph below the set point. It was like the cruise was hunting for the set speed. Suddenly, there was a lurch and I lost all power from the engine. Cruise disconnected and I started coasting down rapdily. There was very nearly a rear-end collision with the guy behind me as I was losing speed so quickly. There was a yellow wrench icon lit on my dashboard, but no check engine light. I managed to cost over to the right shoulder. When I stopped and put it in park, the engine ran extremely roughly. It stumbled and missed like it wasn't getting any air. I shut the engine off, waited a minute, refired it, and it ran perfectly. We continued our trip and had it looked at when we got back. Or local Ford dealer said "there are no stored codes, it didn't do it for us, and there isn't anything wrong. " this has happened several times to me and every time the dealer says the same thing. 2 minutes worth of googling shows that there seems to be a massive problem with the throttle bodies that Ford has on these cars. We need a recall! we could have been injured or killed in a wreck on the interstate when this happened.
The check engine light comes on along with a wrench light. The car no longer accelerates and starts stopping. When the brake is applied it starts shaking. It has happened a few times since the first occurrence with the last on the expressway with my daughter driving. She as traveling in the left lane when the car stopped accelerating and eventually came to a stop. She managed to somehow get it over to the right shoulder as it was dying and shaking. I have done some research and this appears to be a known defect with the throttle body. I took the car in and there is a national back order on the part so it can't be repaired immediately. It seems if this is a known issue and can be extremely dangerous that there should be a recall.
Two days ago my car stalled without warning, I lost all acceleration, and then the check engine light came on. I was able to safely pull to the side. I turned off the car and was able to start up after a few minutes. Today while on the interstate, in the middle lane, during rush hour traffic, my engine suddenly stalled again and the check engine light came on. Luckily again, I was able to put on my hazard lights and coast to the side of the highway. I am grateful traffic was moving slowly and it did not happen when I was traveling at a faster speed. The engine started back up after a few minutes. I will be taking it to the dealership in the morning.
I was traveling on a highway going approximately 70 mph and my accelerator became unresponsive. The rpm's dropped to idle, engine did not stop running but would only coast. The wrench warning light icon came on and later the check engine light came on. I coasted to a stop and put the car in park which is when the car began jerking. I shut the car off and put on my hazard lights on the highway. I was able to restart the car, but it was a rough restart. I was able to drive off and it appeared to run fine. I did some research online and found that many owners of the Ford Fusion have had this recurring problem with their throttle body. This also is affected by other models of 4 cylinder engines. My Ford customer service stated that they had no customer service complaints about this problem. I informed them of all the complaints online, they told me that the throttle was not covered by warranty and this was not a recalled part. This happened numerous times after this, resulting in two near traffic crashes and almost getting tboned while making a left turn through an intersection. The problem is that the vehicle will run fine for a day or say, but with no warning stop running, sometimes at the most inconvenient times. I cleaned the throttle body, but it did not solve the problem. I purchased a new throttle body from my dealership for $185 with tax and replaced the part myself because it was very simple. I am in no means a mechanic, I am a cop and it took me only 5 minutes to replace it. I hope Ford identifies this problem before a traffic crash occurs due to the vehicle stalling without warning.
I was driving to work when suddenly the car lost all forward power. I was in the middle of an intersection when the engine cut out, and a couple of people had to make some pretty severe emergency maneuvers to avoid accidents due to my almost-stalled car. I couldn't get any power out of it with the gas pedal. When I coasted off into someone's driveway, the car barely stayed running. It shook and missed like it didn't have enough air. There was a yellow wrench icon on, but no check engine light. I shut down and refired, and it ran perfectly. I took it to the local dealer, and they told me that there was no stored data to analyze, and that it didn't do it to them on the test drive. They said there wasn't a problem. 2 minutes of googling shows a huge problem with the throttle bodies on these cars. We need a recall!! what if people hadn't been paying attintion when my car failed in the intersection? there could have been a big crash.
While turning left on a green arrow my accelerator became unresponsive, engine did not stop running but would only coast @ about 2 mph, wrench light icon and check engine light came on. The car was jerking during this slow coast to the side of the intersection. I had to put the car in park and completely shut it off. (as I was hitting my hazard lights and praying I didn't get hit by oncoming traffic as the light had changed by this time. ) after a rough restart, it appeared to run fine. I took it to the mechanic and had my fuel system cleaned, but after doing research and finding many owners of the Ford Fusion have had this recurring problem, seemingly with their throttle body, I am very afraid to drive my car as this problem occurs with no warning beforehand and at all different speeds. I did notify Ford customer service and was told that they had no customer service complaints about this problem. When I informed them of all the complaints online, they explained that they only acknowledge "official Ford websites". I pray that Ford will issue a recall and fix this problem before somebody dies.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle went into limp mode then stalled. The contact also stated that the failure occurred when at a complete stop or driving 65 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice who ran a diagnostic test and the codes showed a throttle body failure. The dealer cleaned the throttle body but the failure recurred. The contact then took the vehicle to a private mechanic who replaced the throttle body. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 71,449 the consumer stated the problem occurred at idle and highway speeds. The vehicle would have no throttle response, and the engine would go to idle or completely stall, and the wrench and check engine light would illuminate.
