Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was parked, the contact experienced difficulty shifting the gear from park into reverse and the vehicle began to hesitate. On another occasion, while driving 30 mph and approaching a stop sign, the vehicle turned off, but was able to restart after several attempts. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to respond initially. The contact heard an abnormal noise and the vehicle began to drive normally. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 148,000.

2 Noises During Shifting problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2015

Hello I have a 2010 Ford Fusion I was driving to get on highway to merge left. When I accelerated I was at 55 mph when the car suddenly down shifted I took my foot off the gas and then proceeded to accelerate again slowly. Not to say a car almost hit me from behind because of the downshift problem. It also happens when I start from a stopped position I accelerate and it makes a loud noise and downshifts then the transmission kicks in. Please recall these cars before someone gets killed.

3 Noises During Shifting problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2011

I have a Ford Fusion with about 30000 miles. I first noticed a hard shift at 10k miles and thought maybe its just a simple fix. I took it in and they reprogrammed the transmission and the service supervisor said that this transmission adapts to the owners driving habits. Well 3k miles later its worse so I take it back and the tech said all the clutches were replaced and two other things were done! I have taken it back four more times and have not had it fixed. It appears that Ford admitted there was a problem with a transmission code that fixes the problem. However, the problem was not fixed and I am left with a vehicle that also had a window motor replaced, some pulleys that were making a whistling noise, and a battery and taillight that went out changed. I don't know if its a lemon, but I smell disaster in the next couple of years! wish Ford would do the right thing and stand by its product.
