Over the past 6 months my Ford Fusion's transmission has slowly begun to lose its shifting abilities. It first started with sluggish and jerky movement when put into drive and the gas pedal was pressed. Then it started slipping and jerking while driving down the road. There was no specific speed that it needed to be going. It increased to an extremely high rev before making a loud bang and hard shift into gear. As of yesterday, while driving down the highway, it slipped out of gear as I was slowing to a stop then wouldn't reengage 2nd or 3rd gear. I limped it down the road to the nearest exit into a parking lot where I stopped in a parking spot. I turned the vehicle off and let it sit for a while before turning it back on. When I attempted to back out, reverse would not engage. I pushed it out of the spot and was able to get it into drive, then a quarter mile down the road all drive gears went out. I was able to coast it into another parking lot where I shut it off and let it sit for about 15 min to cool and tried again. Nothing. I lost all gears in the car. I had to have it towed to my house, since taking it to a mechanic would just lead to them informing me of the same thing that all other complaints and forums have stated online about this issue. A transmission change for a minimum of $2500 and there's no recall on a very well documented and serious issue regarding Ford transmissions.
Trans. Problem happening for a long time. Since 2015. Trans jumps out of gear, loses power and lurches. Experienced 3 near he ad on colisions when jumping out of gear. I have noticed scores of compaints online about this identical problem. All with vehical in motion.
Vehicle intermittently shifts extremely hard at many different speeds and different gears. Vehicle intermittently produces transmission flare at many different speeds and different gears. Vehicle intermittently hesitates until gears engage. Vehicle intermittently slips out of drive.
While driving on I-85 south approximately 50-60 mph in moderately heavy traffic, between exits 27 and 26, the car sounded like it dropped out of gear while accelerating. I was able to merge to the shoulder of the highway. The car continued decelerating and the "wrench light" appeared. The car would not accelerate at all. When stopped (at the ramp for exit 26), the car rattled and idled very hard and was shaking. The battery light appeared, then the oil lamp appeared and the car shut off completely. I was towed an hour later to keith hawthorne Ford in belmont. On Monday, July 29, 2013, the service manager, stated that the throttle body had failed; when they hooked-up the car to the testing machine, it did not show any codes. They replaced the failed throttle body, I paid for repairs and have the failed throttle body in my possession.
My car has been constantly shifting out of gears when driving. It happens whether I am going 10 mph to 60 mph. The car will slow down, jerk back, than catch up to gear (automatic drive). I brought the issue up tot the dealership after purchase of the used auto ($20k) miles and they indicated that there was nothing wrong. At $35k I was driving down my street going 20 mph when the car jerked rapisly and shut down. I was stuck in the middle of the stree with the car failing to restart. The transmission light (wrench) came on and I was stuck trying to figure out what to do next. I finally got the car to start up again after 3 tries and I was able to get into work but took the back streets instead of the highway. All of this happened after I had the car at the dealership the day before and it passed the 120 point inspection. I actully printed off all 306 complaints on this websitte regarding this issue and told the dealer what to fix as I did not want to get any run around. The dealer took it out on 3/20 and the car did the same thing to the service team and luckily they were able to witness the critical error. They agreed to fix it but are now trying to stick it to me. The car was under 36k original warranty but the car was originally purchased on 3/5/2010 and the incident haoppend on 3/18/2013. The dealer told me I was two weeks pass the warranty so I was out of luck. I fortunately bought the extended warranty and they are now trying to make me pay the $100 deductible which I am fighting.
1 bought a Ford Fusion in Aug. 2011 used w/15,000 miles on it no problems with it until after I reached 32,000 miles the transmission slips and the wheels sound like its going to fall off , it somes seam to jump out of gear while driving and starting and stopping . I took if to a Ford dealer for oil change told service tech about this he said nothing wrong with car never took for test drive. I did some looking on-line there are a lot of people saying same thing. I read about a re-call on transmission called dealer brought car from said they didn't get notice . Sent e-mail to Ford no reply. Can not get answers from no-one . I have young children I don't want to be driving down the road and have wheels fall off or transmission fall out. This seams to be getting worst .
I have a 2010 for Fusion that was part of the transmission recall ,which has been taken care of. I have been experiencing slow delays of acceleration after pressing the gas pedal. Twice I have experienced where my car won't shift out of gear. The last time I was on the highway and the rpm was stuck at 4 with a speed of 60. The car finally switched gears, but the car then raced forward. Luckily no one was in front of me. I feel that this is a major safety risk for the owners of these cars. I have an appt scheduled on 12/13 with the dealer.
When driving the automatic transmission sometimes slips out of gear and goes to neutral. This problem happens from 10-40mph at 0-50% throttle. Loss of power happens between 5-10 seconds and the engine rpms will increase to 7,000 rpms. Depressing the throttle allows the transmission to engage again with an abrupt and hard shift. Accelerating again after this is very slow and sluggish and is believed that the car is in an upper gear. Almost caused a wreck that could have ended my life between two tractor trailers because of loss of power and failure to accelerate.
Hard shift/clunking noise, left wheel hop then no gear (neutral) usual shifting from 2 - 3. No passing in this vehicle, will jump out of gear when shifting from 2 - 3.
I purchased a 2010 Ford Fusion in August of 2009. The car always shifted out of park and into gear very hard, especially after sitting for several hours. I thought nothing of it. Then the transmission began to "flare" between gear shifts. Essentially the car would shift out of gear (into neutral) and then hard shift into the next gear. A Ford engineer gave me the term they use "flaring". Ford reflashed the transmission without resolving the problem and then reflashed it again without resolving the problem. This is a safety issue.
