1 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2019

My front driver side tire was flat after work. I drove it down the street to the gas station to use the air pump. On my way there, I started getting the service power steering now and a advantrac light came on as well. I still had some control so I pulled into the gas station and aired up the tire. However, the system never reset afterwards. At this point, I had no steering control whatsoever. I restarted it, disconnected the battery, checked fuses, etc. Nothing restored the steering to the car, and now the car is unsafe to drive.

2 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the brakes had failed to function properly when applied. The brake pedal had gone to the floor several times causing the contact to have to apply force and pump the brake pedal each time the failure had happened. In addition, there was no warning indicator when the eps failed causing the steering wheel to have been extremely tight when attempting to turn the steering wheel in either direction. The vehicle was also serviced for a manufacturer extended warranty campaign for the throttle body, however the contact had noticed that the vehicle had been slow to pick up speed while the other two failures had progressed. The dealer worthington Ford, 2950 n bellflower blvd, long beach, CA 90815,1-(562) 420-3333 had been unable to provide a permanent remedy yet for the three failures the contact was experiencing. The contact was not included in NHTSA action number: ea17004 (steering) and pe13003 (engine). The manufacturer was notified of the failures, the contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine if they may be able to provide a permanent fix for the dealers required repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

3 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2017

When attempting to pull away from a gas pump at a filling station, my power steering abruptly quit working and a warning came up on my screen saying something about power steering assist. The vehicle is a 2010 Ford Fusion. It placed me in a very difficult and potentially dangerous situation since it was during rush hour at the station. This lack of power steering increased the chance of a vehicle crash of some kind. I purchased this vehicle new from a dealer in topeka, KS. At the time of the incident, the vehicle had less than 40,000 miles and is in excellent condition. I am a recently widowed 70 year old woman weighing less than 100 lbs and I cannot turn a vehicle without power steering. The vehicle required replacing the electric power steering gear assembly costing me $1,266. 33. This same issue was recalled for 2011 and 2012 Ford Fusions, but no recall for 2010. Please explain why a recall was not also done for 2010 Fusions since the issues were identical regarding shut down of power steering. I do not know how to send the invoice with this complaint, but can send it separately if possible.

4 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

My daughter's 2010 Ford Fusion power steering went out while she was driving it. She didn't crash the car but it made it hard to turn. He low tire indicator light came on and then all of a sudden the power steering just went out. We got the tire pressure back but now the power steering won't work. We had one mechanic look at the car but he says it's the steering rack and those cars are known for this issue. I've researched this and see there has been lots of complaints with the same issue and think Ford needs to issue a recall before someone gets hurt bad or killed. I also own a 2012 Ford Fusion and the fuel pump went out in it and I have seen that this is a issue with this year. The cost of that repair was $555 and the steering rack can range from $1200 to $1600 and if Ford doesn't do anything about either issue then I will not buy another Ford vehicle again.

5 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2014

Shame on you Ford! hard working middle class family purchased a 2010 Ford Fusion for our son to use while he's in college. While driving the car on 1-95 the check engine light came on and also service power steering. The steering wheel locked and the car was impossible to drive luckily it was a week day so we were able to find a Ford dealership. Well they told us it was a evap pump $340, they reset the power steering sensor and thought they fixed it. Few days later the same thing happened again. Another mechanic told us it was uneven tire pressure that set the sensors off the car drove for an hour and the sensors went off again. There should be a recall too many people are having this problem. This is horrible Ford so many family's rely on your cars for the safety of their family! I will never buy Ford again! power steering warning message as the failure occurred again . Took the car to another Ford dealership and now I was told the front axle has to be replaced $2300. Money pit!! this should not be happening to a 2010 car with 48000 miles on it.

6 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2014

The steering issue on the car happened only two weeks after I purchased the vehicle. Car became very difficult to steer, thought perhaps for some reason there was no fluid in it. Cam to learn that this car does not use a power steering pump, rather it has an electric motor that assists the steering. After doing some searches, I found out that several people have had this issue. Contacted the dealer and was told to bring it in to have it checked out, came to learn that the power steering rack had to be replaced to the cost of 1500. 00. . . I am beside myself as I just bought the car!!! this is a recall item, based on all the reports of people having this same issue, Ford needs to step up to the plate here and realize they have a problem and bad design to get these components replaced out on these cars before someone seriously gets injured. The car is almost impossible to steer when this goes out and if someone like an older person or younger inexperienced driver runs into this situation the problem is going to cause serious injury. . . The failure happens without any indications. Ford recall the part and fix these cars!!!.
