Received a "service power steering now" along with "service advancetrac" error during the middle of a long drive. Luckily I had enough strength to get the vehicle back home, but as I attempted to move the car the next day, the steering column had locked completely. I have no way to turn this car. The same errors are showing up, along with "tire pressure sensor fault. " I was lucky to get this thing back semi-safely. If the steering had locked at 70 mph, I would have been seriously injured.
Got the power steer system fault message for the first time a couple days ago, turned my car off then on and the message went away. Started my car yesterday and they message returned. Turned my car off then on again several times to no avail. This is my only car so I am forced to risk my whole life to get around. I don't understand what the hold up is on this recall. Ford knows their ids is flawed and have recalled 2011 and 2012 Fusions for the same problem. They need to fix their mistake before I get ran over or run someone else over. Not to mention I have a manual transmission. Help me lord. Idk what will break first, my wrists or the steering column.
While driving my 2010 Fusion on vacation last week, my epas suddenly stopped working and the car immediately became extremely difficult to steer. At the time this happened, a warning message displayed that said, service advancetrac, service power steering and a warning light came on. There were no indications of an issue prior to this. As far as I can tell, this has been a problem on many Fusions and has resulted in a recall of Fusions for other model years but not 2010 (so far??). It's frustrating that this appears to be a known issue for this vehicle, including 2010s, but the model year is not included in the recall. The local Ford dealership just told me the system needs to be replaced (this includes the steering column), and they estimated the cost to be $2200.

On starting the car, the steering column was locked up and would not turn. Towed to Ford dealership, they assessed that the whole steering column had to be replaced. Cost me $2000. This is a common problem and I am surprised that Ford has not issued a recall.
