Power Steering Light On problems of the 2010 Ford Fusion - part 1

The steering assist light came on and the power steering to the car quit working. This could have caused a collision because I was unable to steer the car. 2011 through 2015 has been recalled due to this problem but my car is a 2010 with the same part not recalled.

I have a advance trac light and power steering light I currently don't have and power steering.

Power steering assist fault light starting showing up in my dash, once in a while, over the last two months. Normally, I would turn car off and back on and everything would be fine. Two days ago, after parking, I turned car off. When I went to go turn car back on, the light showed up and steering wheel locked. So I turned car off and back on but this time, the steering wheel stayed locked and error messaged remained on. I tried it today and it is still in the same condition. The car will start but steering wheel won't move.

I put a new battery in my car and when I started it the power steering assist fault light came on. I turned it off and did this two more times and it started and the power steering assist fault light went off. I went to work and in the morning I started it and the power steering assist fault light came back on. I turned it off and on a couple more times, but it wouldn't go off. I got it home and there it sits.

The power steering has been going in and out for weeks. In the past two weeks, every time I start the car, the power steering fault error lights up on my dashboard and I cannot move my steering wheel until I turn off my vehicle and start the car again. Today, I attempted to start my car 5 times, the power steering error message showed each time, and I was never able to move my steering wheel. After waiting several hours, I was able to move my car. Since the issue has now grown to be this severe, I'm fearful that the power steering is now going to go out while I'm driving.

While driving at 50 mph on a duel lane road . The service power steering light came on. , on the dash when I went to make a right hand turn the power steering did not work causing me to almost hit another vehicle. After reading on line and at Ford . This is a problem with Ford Fusions of that model. In fact there is a recall on 2011 and12 for this but not the 10 and it should be.

My power steering and traction light came on while driving, parked the car and two hours later went to drive the car and no power steering. Now I am having to pay 2000 for a fix that I see has affected many of the cars that are same year make and model as mine.

Intermittant loss of power steering. Power steering fault light comes on and car is almost impossible to steer. Very dangerous, my daughter was going around a turn and was barely able to steer to safety!.

Service power steering light came on as I was driving home. The next morning I turned on the car and it said service power steering now. Have seen that I am one of the many people having this issue. Should be recalled and fixed not just the 2011 which is just one year newer.

Came out from shopping on 12-26-19 went to leave when all of a sudden the power steering assist fault light came on and it became extremely hard to steer. Took to mechanic told me its the rack pinion which is going to cost over $2000 to fix . And then I see its a known Ford problem. I do see that there is an open investigation with several complaints.

My power steering fault light cut on when I started my car , than with the car running in a parked position ,it went away . I'm afraid to drive my car knowing power steering my go out at any time .

Advance trac light and power steering light came on this morning dont know why car doesn't take power steering fluid this is the first time this has happened since 2015 when I first purchased it.

Well I get out this morning to take my kids to school when I crank the car and we start riding the service advancetrac light came on in blank then the service power steering light came on. So after I drop them off I was on my way home the light continue to blink as I pulled up in my driveway the steering wheel start to get hard to steer so I'll park got out well so I'll part pop the hood got out and check for power steering on to realize that is not one because it's electric. So when I look online to my surprise everybody with a Ford Fusion is having the same as a problem different year different engine size but same problem no one seems to have a solution because it's many things that can cause the problem is very stressful I think y'all should have that on recall to help better assist people with the problems. Unfortunately I hate the fact that my my warranty is up as father with a family of five don't have the money to afford to pay for to get it fixed.

The power steering assist fault light came on and vehicle could not be controlled. We were in a store parking lot and going slow out of a parking spot so there was no damage. If this happened on the road doing 35 mph things could have been very different. .

Power steering assist fault light appeared. Car experienced loss of power steering while driving making it very difficult to steer. My 16 year old daughter was driving herself and her younger brother to school on a city street.

An independents towing company was contact and towed the vehicle to the dealer york's of houlton 315 north st, houlton, me 04730 (207) 532-6534 where a diagnosed test was preformed and deteminedted that the rack pinion failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle at this moment is begin repaired as well as the airbags unknown which side. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage 60,000. Ck.

The contact was unable to turn the sterring wheel to the left or right, the trancttion control light illuminated, and the engine stalled in traffic. The vehicle was towed to the contact home. Driving vehicle at about 25 mph when an alert came up to check stability control and power steering. Power steering was slightly tougher but not hard. Drove for another 20 miles to destination and it was fine. A few hours later when the car was restarted the power steering was completely gone and alert said to check power steering now.

Power steering service light came on as well as advancetrac service. Then went to restart car and steering column is locked. Recalls have been made on 2011 and newr but not on 2010 with many reported issues.

A few months ago I was driving on a major street in austin, & turning into a store parking lot & my power steering failed! steering wheel totally locked up on me! very scary-almost hit 2 oncoming cars! power steering assist fault light was on & minutes later another warning about advance trac fault. Turning steering wheel is nearly impossible for me. (I'm 5'3" 130 lbs & not a body builder!). I managed to drive it 3 blocks to a mechanic. They charged me $100 for estimate of $2400 to repair!! I do not have that kind of money!! is there a class action lawsuit I can join or something else to voice my complaint? also I am only 10 mins from my work so it's possible I could drive it just to get to my job but the inspection has expired! does anyone know if they will pass inspection without power steering? Power steering assist fault light comes on. Vehicle had to be towed to garage. Cost to repair is$1500+. Dangerous failure and should be recalled. Vehicle was parked and turned on.

�takata� I have looked up the problem with my Ford Fusion 2010 which is the electrical power steering and there is no recall on the vechile but so many people are having problems with it. The models after it have a recall but none for the 2010 make. I feel as if, there should be a recall on any and every vechile Ford makes. No matter the year or model. The manufacturer made the vechile and of its a problem that was not caused by customers but by the manufacturer then it should be fixed. Some people can't afford to fix problems that are so expensive and the charge of labor like myself! my vechile was stationary when the power steering light had come on.

I was leaving my house and the power steering light came on, I turned the car off and then on the warning light went off. As I was driving, it became very hard to steer the car. Without warning the power steering went out and has been out for a couple of weeks, it is very hard to turn the wheel. I can not afford to fix it right now, it seems there is a lot of problems with this car model. I had just had the air bag replaced and was hoping to have no more problems it.
