Started car this morning 1/26/19 and the power steering assist failure light came on. I was unable to steer out of my driveway. Currently towing the car to Ford of kirkland, wa for further analysis.
On 01/16/2019 when I was leaving my house, I started the car and when I put it in reverse, the steering locked and warning lights are on saying service advancetrac. I was not able to turn the wheel. I stop and put car in park. The steering came back on and I was able to get warning lights off by restarting car. The following day it did the same exact thing. I did not drive it much till 01/21/2019. That afternoon while turning right onto a county highway, the same thing happened while partway threw the turn. I was not able to steer and almost hit the oncoming car because I was unable to turn my car to complete the turn I was part way into when failure happened. I ended up coming to a stop on the left shoulder. Thank god the other driver was paying attention. And swerved to avoid hitting me when I crossed into his lane. The traction control light came on and the ! came on. And warning said service advancetrac and service power steering now. Was able to restart car and it was back to normal. Very scary! my car has the same rack and pinion as the cars that are covered by the recall 15s18. My car has manufacturing data of 06/09/2010. Therefore it's not part of the recall. But it's the same part and same problem. Please make them expand the recall to cover all cars affected. My car has 123,456 miles on it when issue started.
2010 Ford Fusion power steering light came on at 45 mph coming home. Luck was on my side. I was one mile from home on a straight stretch of highway and started losing power steering. I got into my driveway and cut the car off . This was a Friday. Over the weekend I looked up the light code and got a lot of bad news about the recall that did not happen for the 2010 Fusion on the power assist steering. I bought car new from Ford. Now has 101079 miles on it. Try to move car Monday. I could not move the steering wheel at all. I called the Ford dealership and they got a rollback to bring it in to them. That was 125. 00. Tested for codes for 125. 00. Reset code and drove it for 12 miles and said it may come back on. Quoted 2500. 00 to replace parts and realign front tires. . I am mad I did not get a letter warning about this when they recalled the 2011-12 models. The car will sit still til I get a recall notice. I cannot afford to repair it at this time.

Driving down the road and the service power steering lightcame on out of no where and my steering stopped working.
While driving Fusion service down highway Sunday(12-16-18) service power steering now light came on & couldn't turn steering wheel without complications & had to get home to park car before I hit something due to steering wheel too hard to steer, car shaking, and couldn't hardly keep in lane. The service advance light also came on & both remain on & little to no control left to steer the car so car remains parked. Ford knows there are issues with this part and extremely costly repairs and part is a necessity to safely operate the car. This part should be recalled and repaired at the cost of Ford motor not their customers who seek a safe car to transport themselves and their families in.
While driving kids to school check autotrac and check power steering lights activated. After dropping kids off and arriving home, car was turned off. Car was started again to take to garage to be checked, but wife could not turn wheel. Husband with much effort drove 1/4 mile to garage. Upon checking w/google have found hundreds of same complaints, some involving accidents.
I was driving home at night and attempted to make a right turn at approximately 30 mph after slowing from 45 mph. As I attempted to turn the service power steering light came on my dashboard and I found myself trying to pilot the car with without assistance. This turned out to be difficult to say the least and was only made more difficult because I had little time to register what was happening. The roads were icy and there was a car directly behind me so stopping would likely have resulted it an accident; I forced the wheel but even then I ended up in the oncoming lane and had to struggle to get back into the right lane. Thankfully there was no one in the oncoming lane or an accident likely would have occurred and thankfully that turn was into my neighborhood so I had no further turns to make. The next morning the power steering was still out and the car is effectively useless to me in this state. I do not have $1800 to purchase a replacement part, especially not when that part will likely have to be replaced in the near future. I can't sell the car to anyone like this and I can't afford a new one so I honestly don't know what I'm going to do at this point. It's dissappointing that this same part was recalled for subsequent models but not for the 2010 model; I hope there is some justification for not recalling the part and lives aren't being put at risk as a result of incompetence, corruption, or negligence but I am a cynical man. Fix this.

About a week ago, I got the stability system code a few times when I would start the car. I would turn the car off, then back on and it would reset and be normally drivable. After the second or third time, I noticed that there wasn't power steering when I first turned on the car, and if I tried to turn the wheels, the stability control light would come on. Then the power steering assist light started coming on first and if I didn't do anything except turn off and restart the car the code would clear and I could drive. Yesterday (15 Sep 2018) the power steering system failed and won't come back on. We drove it, without power steering, to the dealership and they said it was not currently covered by the recall.
Power steering assist light randomly comes on and I don't have power steering when it does this. Sometimes, restarting the car will make it go away. Now, it has failed completely and won't function properly. This happened when stationary and when driving.

I was driving to go pick up my yound boys at school went around curve my power steering went put and my service power steering now light came on and my service advance trac light came on no warning just went out I almost hit a tree I call Ford place they say I jave to come up there let them put it on machine that is 107. 00 and then tellme whats wrong and they can fix it but the part that may be needed is 900 dollars im a single mom and dnt have that kind of money ive had this car little ova 1 yr I looked up recalls and back in 2015 they recalled Ford Fusions for power steering problems but the owners of 2010 Fusions that were complaining was not recalled 2010 and older have electric power steering and if this many ppl are complaining why havent they recalled them are they waiting til a person gets killed what if its a child all they are gonna do is say im so sorry but they know about the problem why cant we get our cars fixed they made them with faulty equipment.
The steering gear / rack and pinion has failed therefor no power steering. . . This car requires the same part number as the Fusions recalled for same issue beginning in 2011 prt# ae5z-3504de why isn't the 2010 included? lucky for me I can drive with no power steering in light of the fact I don't have 2000. 000 to get it fixed. What is it going to take to get the recall extended to include the 2010? deaths? I work for a mechanic and kow what is wrong and the part numbers and the fact that this unit is used in multiple Fords. . . I feel like we the 2010 owners are being shunned because Ford doesn't want to pay for our recalls.
Went to leave for work 3-4-17, upon starting car, service power steering assist light on and unable to turn wheel.
I cranked up my car in my driveway and the power steering assist fault light came on. I had no power steering. I reset it by turning the engine off and then back on. I did this since February but now turning the engine off and on no longer resets it. Apparently, there is no recall for this and I was quoted a price of $1599 to install a new rack. .

Power steering went out while driving on the road. Advancetrac and service power steering lights are on.
When I started my car the low tire pressure light came on, but everything seemed to be working fine. I drove a few blocks on city streets with no problem, and then the steering wheel suddenly became tight and difficult to move and the advance trac light and power steering light came on. Able pull over carefully, but not safe to continue driving. Diagnosed as power steering failure - had to replace rack and pinion.
Power steering assist fault light came on and I have no power steering. Started looking for answers and many many others having the same issue. Yet no recalls yet!.
Steering trac warning light came on once I put my vehicle in drive (after backing out of my garage) on the way to work. Called the dealership for an appointment to have vehicle checked out. On the way to dealership warning light went off then came back on. Dealership informed me that repairs would be approximately $2,000. 00 to replace power steering. This vehicle has approximately 50,000 miles. The steering is an absolute must on a vehicle - I am amazed that the Ford motor company has not issued some form of recall or assistance in replacing. This will be the last Ford product that will be purchased by this family.
Power steering fault light illuminated while in park, led to complete power steering failure and replacement required, rack and opinions plus rods left and right.

My husband was able ro get me to work and back home which was a major struggle and now the car is sitting in front of our house. Mileage is right around 78000 or so and just had service last week of August.
