The vehicle was towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the engine had failed due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 112,000.

The contact looked under the hood and noticed smoke, coolant and water were pouring from the vehicle. There were no warning indicator lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. After future diagnostics informed her there was a bad casting on the head and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted who informed her the repairs were not covered under the warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 104, 237.
