40 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2023

Drove the car last on 1/18/2023, no issues with steering whatsoever; never saw a warning light on dash. Then on 1/19/2023, I had to go to work and attempted to make the trip. Upon turning the key the car started but the dash illuminated two warnings. [steering-assist fault-service required] [service advance trac] I had not experienced any issues prior to this. Now the cars steering is very difficult to steer. Apparently, some drivers have experienced this while driving, this could be very dangerous and investigated as this could be lethal in certain circumstances. There was a recall for bolts, to my best of knowledge this was fully completed by a local registered Ford dealership. This causes me worry and I think Ford should look into this or at the least perform a complimentary assessment of what is going on and offer some solutions to such an issue that apparently is not uncommon.

43 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2022

Brake line delaminated - had to replace after brakes went out completely. Paid out of pocket for repair after tow. Power assist steering stopped working abruptly. 45 Steering problem

Even after earlier repair for recall for potential steering failure, exact same problem occured while driving. Significant loss of control. Rack and pinion steering required to be replaced.

46 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2022

The electric steering motor mounting bolts to the steering rack corroded and snapped off causing the vehicle to loose steering. This is a huge safety concern! if this would happen at freeway speeds it would cause a serious accident or even loss of life. Ford motor company had a recall for this concern for the same model year we own but Ford customer service told me that by the VIN number our Ford Fusion was not included in the recall. What had happened is the exact same concern for the recall. At the present time this vehicle we own can not be driven ! I believe Ford’s recall number is 19s26. There is lots of information on the internet about this concern. I can’t understand why Ford Fusions from 2013 thru 2016 are involved in this recall but not all of them since all the steering racks on the Ford Fusions are of the same design. It’s a very costly repair if the owner can not get assistance from Ford. Please look into this matter. Thank you.

47 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic on four separate occasions, where it was diagnosed that a wheel alignment was needed; however, after the vehicle repairs were completed, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that all tires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure was recurring. The vehicle was then taken to kings Ford (9555 kings auto mall rd, cincinnati, OH 45249), where it was diagnosed that another wheel alignment was needed; however, the failure persisted after the repair. The contact had received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v162000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part for the repair was not yet available. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the failure was related to the recall, and the dealer confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The vehicle was not repaired, and the contact was advised to apply the emergency brake when parking. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

48 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2022

Steering rack was faulty in the car, causing there to be no powersteering which makes the vehicles extremely hard to maneuver while in motion. Hill assist and traction control warnings popped up and vehicle makes electronic like noises as you turned the wheel. Vehicles has been taken to an independent service center and issue has been confirmed. Looking at various forums, message boards, and speaking with my mechanic this is not an uncommon issue with Ford vehicles.

51 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2022

My car has approximately 97,000 miles on it. For the last 6 months, I've been getting alerts on my dashboard ("service advance trak", "hill start not available", and one or two others). This happens at slow speeds and fast also when turning. When these alerts start, I lose power steering. I've also noticed that when I apply brakes at slow speeds, the abs engages for a few seconds. I was told by the dealer that I needed a new battery but that was not the issue. I was driving with my kids in the car and it happen mid driving on the highway. I almost got into a serious accident but was able to gain control in enough time to steer out the way. This is a very dangerous issue and I see that it has been recalled but only on vehicles up north due to possible salt and water erosion with the snow. Now the dealership is suggesting to replace it costing 1800. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Knocking sounds started happening when turning steering wheel. Confirmed by independent mechanic and rodman Ford dealership to need power steering rack/electric motor. Driving in very heavy rain on i93 at about 40mph, exited highway, after about 5 miles, no power steering, many other functions stopped operating, limped into a parking lot, tried to reset everything by shutting off and back on, no change. My car has approximately 110,000 miles on it. For the last 6 months, I've been getting alerts on my dashboard ("service advance trak", "hill start not available", and one or two others). This happens at slow speeds and when turning. When these alerts start, I lose power steering. I've also noticed that when I apply brakes at slow speeds, the abs engages for a few seconds. 64 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2021

My vehicle's battery drained out because we hadn't been driving the vehicle much due to covid stay-home orders in michigan and staying at home over the holidays. We rolled it out of the garage and jump started it in the driveway, then let it run for an hour to recharge the battery rather than driving it because our power steering and advance trac were showing fault messages and it was very difficult to steer the vehicle. The messages didn't go away after we turned it off and restarted it. We even left it overnight and tried the next morning. The messages are as follows: low battery features temporarily turned off steering assist fault service required service advance trac there are also two warning lights showing a car skidding, one with the text "off" under it. I believe these are the traction control warning lights. Looking on the internet, I see there have been recalls for steering problems related to the electric power steering assist systems https://www. Consumerreports. . Read more...

68 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2020

The rpms rev and shifting hesitates. Was at a stop light, went to drive off from light and it stalled in intersection as it was stuck in gear and finally went into gear. It slow, hard shifts at usual times. The stalling happens out of the blue. I do not go far because I don't want to have an accident from it stalling in gear! I've put so much money on tranny work, this is ridiculous to not have a safe vehicle and have to worry about being stranded.
