general problems of the 2017 Ford Fusion - part 2

The air conditioner blower will turn on all by itself while driving. The on off button for the radio stopped working.

The apim in the vehicle is malfunctioning causing a constant drain on the 12v battery system. I brought the car to Ford and they said it is a common issue with the apim malfunctioning, they quoted me 1800 to change the apim which I can not afford. I was driving to work and my car smelled like rotten eggs, I started feeling nauseous and light headed. When I got to work I opened my trunk to get my backpack and noticed the smell was really strong in the trunk and was coming from the 12v battery. I touched the battery and it was scorching hot. After some research I found out that the rotten egg smell was the battery producing hydrogen sulfide gas which can be fatal. I believe an investigation should be opened to look into this for if I passed out behind the wheel from the gas myself and others would have been at risk of injury or death.

Vehicle constantly has 12v battery dying. Replaced with new battery and same thing 12v battery keeps dying. Hooked up my current meter to the car and it is constantly drawing 11amps from the battery. Pulled fuses until the current draw stopped and issues is coming from the apim. I also did some research into the issue and it appears a lot of people are having the same issue where the apim is not shutting off. How has there not been a recall on this yet? this can be dangerous if you can't start your car and your stuck in a snow storm for example.

The car will not shift. The car will start but I cannot shift from park to neutral or drive.

When putting into reverse it jolts and shakes and makes a real loud noise and says vehicle and low gear and needs to be stopped (not sure of the exact wording} then when put into drive it does the same thing but not as rough as I try to continue to drive forward there is no power I barely step on the gas and it sounds real rough and loud it seems like it's hot under the hood more than usual I had to diagnose test run it's saying it's the power train system it's eating through all my gas the electrical has been acting weird the last few months but there was no warning signs popping up on my dash until out of nowhere my check light engine came on I called the dealership here in ogden utah they stated that my vehicle is outside of the recall time frame but it seems like everyone with a 2017 well actually from the last 10 years there's been issues it seems and it's all the same problem mostly I really don't think I should have to come out of pocket since this is an ongoing issue with Ford and their Fusions.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the cross-traffic alert button to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to another dealer, sheehy Ford Lincoln of gaithersburg (901 n frederick Ave, gaithersburg, MD 20879, (301) 358-4443) and was referred to manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

Trunk randomly opens. Sometimes the car is started, sometimes it’s not. Happens whether in gear or not.

Issue with sync 3. Major concern is the vehicle is equipped with a safety feature if there is an accident. 911 assist is a sync feature that can call for help if you are involved in an accident and are unable to make a call yourself. 911 assist works with sync 3 to alert emergency responders when there is an accident and relays important information such as the type of crash that occurred, the number of seat belts that were being used, and whether an airbag has deployed. The apim/sync 3 is malfunctioning on the vehicle where there is no gps and the phone does not connect. This "safety" feature is useless with the apim not functioning correctly in the event of an accident. Without gps, emergency responders would not have a location and without phone connection, this could be a tragic result. The dealer has not not been confirmed or inspected to date as I had to make a service appointment.

I drove about 11 miles total to get on the interstate, when I was about 7-9miles into my drive, my steering wheel started to lock up. I slammed on my breaks, and kept twisting and turning my steering wheel for about 2 miles to the nearest gas station. I had tons of lights pop up on my dash and they said my steering system is failed. Something along those lines. It said something about my shifter being messed up as well? I have had 0 lights on, 0 warnings, nothing. If I was going any faster than I was I could’ve been seriously injured. I almost ran straight into a bridge before I slammed my breaks on to ensure I wouldn’t hurt myself or wreck the car. Not sure why my steering would just all-of-the-sudden go out? I haven’t had any problems previous to this situation so it’s very unsafe and honestly terrifying. This situation could’ve gone south really fast, if I would’ve been on the interstate it could’ve been fatal.

Loses power . . Cylinder misfire p0301 diagnostics.

I was in my neighborhood heading to the store at the top the street I heard something like a clunky noise sounded like something fell out the bottom then it stopped immediately after no light or anything on to make me think of any issue with my car it started leaking like something broke kind of a burning smell then it wouldn’t move it would come on shift gears but not move at all it’s now been at Ford since last week they are trying to find the problem I guess seems to me like it’s part of the recall with torque converter they left me a voicemail saying it was a lot of metal and maybe the engine not sure.

I was driving and proceeded to park and I couldn't shift from drive to park. It happened twice since the 20th of March. I had to turn off car and shift again. The car shifted at that moment. It seems this issue is �common� in the 2017 Ford Fusion automobiles. These cars should be recalled to solve this issue. Thank you for your assistance in advance. Battery keep battery keeps going dead.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle would fail to start and required to be jumpstarted. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred while coming into a complete stop. The contact stated that on some occasions, the abs warning light would illuminate and the abs would make abnormal sounds prior to the failure, and on other occasions, the check engine warning light was illuminated and a message indicating that the vehicle was overheating was displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed three times out of the five times it was taken to a Cadillac dealer and a Ford dealer. The dealers replaced the water pump, the alternator and an unknown part; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle would lose electrical power while the battery was fully charged. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact later received recall notice of NHTSA campaign number: 23v162000 (service brakes, hydraulic) that he related to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Back in 2018, 1. 3 million Ford focus vehicles were recalled due to a fuel purge valve. Who's to say the same issue is starting to occur again, but to the Ford Fusions? my 2017 Ford Fusion that I purchased 6 months ago has this issue. It is a major safety concern! on my way to work in the middle of the highway, during morning traffic, my car decides to turn off causing a accident, but luckily nobody got hurt! while I was sitting there waiting for the police to arrive, I tried turning it back on, and luckily it did, but surprise surprise now with the service engine light on. When I got off of work my car turned back on (still with the service engine light on) and the same issue happened again 4 times on my way back home. I drove all the way back on the right hand passing lane because this is a safety hazard, and could easily cause a accident again! what it did exactly is it starts like a humming/vibrating noise that comes from the dashboard, I couldn't push on my gas, turn my steering wheel, and automatically goes down to 0 mph, and on the dashboard it asked me to put the car in p, and then turns off. Of course the warranty that I purchased didn't want to cover it, and now I have to pay $425 to have this fixed! Ford motor company needs to issue a recall before someone seriously gets injured!.

Vehicle codes started to appear on the dashboard ( temp light, engine light, battery light) warning signs also appeared ( overheating in engine ) engine coolant started to decrease no leak was detected. It was taken to a mechanic to get evaluated and they came to the conclusion that it was leaking internally into the car which caused other issues. This car was purchased February 2020 so 8 months later the car has completely crashed. White smoke is also expelling from the vehicle exhaust. The spark plugs are burning up they were replaced approximately 8 days ago and they are completely burned white.

I was in a the middle of a drive thru and I put my car in park and engine light came on, my gear shifter was flashing in all the gears and on the dash it was saying shift system fault service required. I couldn't put it in any gear. It wouldn't start until some guy came over and said the same thing happened to his Ford Fusion. He knew how to get it back in park and showed me what happened. He has said that there was a recall for that part.

I was driving about 10 mins away from my house, in the city as I approached a red light my car shut off. It stopped while I was in motion , I couldn't brake, theres was nothing could do but just let the car stop on its own. The battery light started to flash, the wrench light came on. I turned the car off, then back on, and it didnt start. So I tried again, and the car started, I was ale to make it home safe. But this is a hazard, I had children in the car, I will like this car to be recalled. I saw in 2017 in July about five thousands 2017 Fords were recalled for this reason. Im scared and dont know what to do!.

When I turn the car on, 3 warnings appear on the dash: "front camera malfunction", "pre-collision assist no available", "lane keeping malfunction check". These features seem to work when I'm driving, but when I took the car into Ford, they told me the image processing module needs to be replaced.

Turned car on and immediately received the shift sys fault service required warning. Car would not go into gear as well as the parking brake would not go off. Attempted to utilize the key hole in the center console, did not assist at all. Tow truck moved car to the house for us. The car was stationary during the attempting to move into drive.

Car kept giving us a flat code for gears. . . . Saying transmission wasnt in park. Car wouldnt start or shift gears. . . This happened as we were driving the car.

My vehicle start stalling the check engine light came on and then the car slowed down and wouldn't go over 25miles on the interstate and I almost got hit by other vehicles trying to pass me. I was close to the Ford dealership so I decided to go there. Not long after the temperature gauge starts to go up. Once l arrived at the Ford dealer where I always go for the maintenance of my vehicle and after 3hrs I was asked if they could keep my car overnight to do a coolant check. I said yes and the next day I was told that the code 301 was a spark plug that needed to be changed but that wasn't the problem. I have a coolant leak and its leaking in my engine and that is the problem. Overall I need a need engine and the car is only 2 1/2 years old. Ford would not help with the problem.

Shift dial get stuck in park, will not shift out of park even with the override, have had it looked at twice, both times there was "no problems," and the shop always it works when the tow truck drops it off. It happens on and off, never gives an error message or throws a code. Could be driving one minute, get home, shut the car off, a couple hours later get back in, and it doesn't shift anymore. It's extremely inconvenient and considering the Ford dealership says "this happens a lot" I don't understand why they don't recall the faulty cable or relay or transmission or shift dial if it happens all the time, because after taking it to 3 different shops, they all have no answer to the issue, just to "deal with it". And the fact that the override doesn't work is a big problem. But Ford does their thing and I guess won't recall something they know is a problem on many of their 2017 Ford Fusion se's even though it's a safety issue but I guess that's Ford, more about pumping crap cars out than they are worried about making them safe when the same problem occurs on multiple 2017 Ford Fusions.

My car was purchased about 1 1/2 years ago as a certified preowned from sheehy Ford in ashland, va. Since then the battery has begun draining for no reason when the car is sitting still. I went to leave work a few months ago and there was nothing left on in the vehicle. When I got in to go home I was unable to start my vehicle. This happened again to me last week after making a trip to GA to visit family. I was unable to drive back to va from GA without purchasing another battery. My uncle who works on vehicles, hooked my Fusion up to a diagnostic machine after taking out various fuses and the car still had a very high drain on my battery. I have researched this on the internet and it seems to be a standing issue with several Ford Fusion owners. Ford need to issue a recall and fix this issue. Having drivers stranded on the road is never good. If I could I would return this vehicle back to the dealership and purchase another vehicle not from Ford.

Battery continues to drain and vehicle continues to not start. The vehicle was dead twice in oct and Nov. In December battery replacement. Has been to dealership 2 more times since with dead battery. The problem does not want to be fixed by Ford. They continue to just jump it and say it's ok.

The electric charger that plugs into the 120v wall outlet is over heating on every charge. Started happening within the last month.

Difficult to start after refueling (unaffected by amount of fuel inside tank); intermittentl grunting/vibration sounds coming from fuel tank at random intervals. Happens while parked and while in motion. Car has also had electrical-type humming sound coming from gear knob and dash since I bought it with 36k miles on it.

Tried to start car. Battery light, engine light and power train light came on. Never started. Turned the car completely off. Waited a couple mins and tried again. Never started and this time all lights came on. Made a ticking sound. Didn't turn over either time trying to start. Went to the store earlier in the day though, and everything was fine.

The vehicle was taken to metro Ford sales inc (3601 state st, schenectady, NY 12304, (518) 868-6157) where it was diagnosed and determined that the service restraints module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

I obtained my vehicle on lease in 2017 with 40k miles from Ford of branford CT. When off lease I purchased it outright. I still own the vehicle and am still having two main problems, one since almost the beginning. The first is the automatic seat control(driver's). This system would periodically push the driver into the steering wheel. I brought it into that dealership several times for that reason, while still in CT. They did claim to get it to stop doing this with some resets, but over time it continued. Around 2020, the vehicle began going totally dead. Initially it was determined to be the starting battery. My concern was it to ba a compiter or power drain problem. Several batteries and dealership visits didn't solve it. I moved to SC in may 2022. These problems continued there, where cox Ford of southern pines took over. After more service visits the only answer was a bad battery. Recently, after returning from vacation and having to jump start the vehicle two times, I had several conversations with the service department. Finally a new service writer found some information. A technical service bulletin described how in this vehicle, how under seat wiring for the automatic seats, were becoming frayed and shorting on metal rails. (182025a). Also another for battery drain (ssm 50250). My automotive background (which I no longer do) tells me that electric seat wiring, grounding against seat rails could cause the battery to be draining. I believe they could be connected.

2017 Fusion is once again back to make a second attempt to find why the battery is being drained. I have pics of each time that it as completely died and I had to recharge the battery. The last time it was sitting on my driveway for 5 days and it competely drained the battery. I had to put a charger on it overnight through the engine compartment and then when I was finally able to get the trunk then I had to recharge the battery for over 8 hours to get the vehicle started. I do not have the time to take this problem to the to the dealer each time but I am going to take it in again this week 9-23-2019 to see if they can look into what is causing this problem. It is unbelievable to us that Ford does not recall these cars.

The Ford "sync 3" system, which seems to be the brains of nearly all interior controls and accessories has been malfunctioning in multiple Ford models for a few years now. Thing affected include all hvac controls, audio controls, power seats, windows, remote start abilities and more. Ford aware of the malfunctions in current and previous models, yet they refuse to issue any recall or technical service bulletin. The dealerships insist they can't duplicate the issue even after having been shown videos of the cars malfunctions. A quick search through online Ford forums will this issue is widely experienced and that it's clearly a manufacturing defect and Ford should be liable.

If I turn on my electronic parking brake and turn my car off by the time I wake up my car battery will be drained.

I have a good battery and my car keeps on draining the battery. The car was only driven 8400 miles mostly highway miles and the only way I can start it is by jumping the battery.
