The vehicle's electrical system intermittently fails while driving. The entire instrument cluster and electronics shut off (speedometer, gauges, and all warning indicators go dark) while the engine continues running. On one occasion this occurred at night on a highway, with sudden loss of dashboard and electrical function until the vehicle could be pulled to safety, rendering the vehicle essentially invisible. The failure has worsened over time and now includes audible relay clicking near the center console and failed remote-start commands. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an authorized Ford dealer. After multiple prior visits where the dealer could not reproduce the fault, the dealer verified the concern and connected a scan tool, finding that all modules on the hs1-can communication bus stopped communicating. The dealer checked technical service bulletins, performed pinpoint tests, and verified connector pin fitment. The dealer's diagnosis is a failed gateway module, with replacement recommended. The vehicle remains available for inspection. Warning symptoms preceding the failures include the dashboard going dark, electronics resetting, fault codes appearing on restart, and remote start malfunctioning. This is a serious safety risk: loss of the instrument cluster, lighting, and electrical systems while driving, particularly at highway speed and at night, eliminates the driver's ability to monitor speed and warning indicators and can result in loss of visibility. This failure pattern is widely reported by owners of this model and appears consistent with gateway module defects addressed by recall on newer model-year Fusion vehicles.

The recall for the backup camera has been open since October with no remedy. This seems like an excessive amount of time and is giving me trouble selling my vehicle. How long is the manufacturer given to remedy the issue?.
When backing up the rear camera went to black screen and wouldnt display the rear view. Almost hit a pedestrian because they were directly behind the car. This problem happens sometimes and I am not sure how to replicate it except for putting the car in reverse and seeing if it is going to display the rear view or not. I need this recall to be completed ASAP, it has been released since October and I’m still having issues with it 6 months later and there is no fix for this?? its just frustrating.
Very frequently, the rear view camera will stop working, glitch and go black. Then give the message, camera is unavailable.

On my 2011 Ford Fusion the power steering has failed and it seems to be covered by 15v340000 (15s18), specially supplement 3 but the dealership doesn't wish to acknowledge the warranty replacement. Currently the vehicle cannot be driven safely. I have had several mechanics look at the vehicle including a Ford authorized dealership. The suggested fix is as explained in the 15v340000 (15s18) and 15n01.
I don't know if this qualifies as an immediate safety issue, however, if the vehicle is stopped and placed into park on a busy freeway, or in traffic in any way, then this absolutely is a safety issue after the fact because the vehicle cannot be moved due to not being able to get it into gear. This involves the shift linkage component and not being able to get the car out of park and into any other gear. It's already an active recall but it's VIN specific and my VIN was not included. It really needs to be though. It should be all Fusions at this point. I drive a 2020 Ford Fusion and the shift linkage bushing broke. Initially I got the "shift system error" message back in January and could not get my car into gear. It would just bounce right back into park. I had to call a tow truck but eventually the driver was able to somehow reset the system using the hidden reset button in the center console. It was enough to keep me running for a couple of months. However, two weeks ago it happened again and the reset option was no longer working. The car was towed to my dealership and they replaced the "missing" bushing and I was charged $511. 00 for the repairs. Considering how widespread this issue this seems to be, I would like to see a full model-specific recall issued for these Fusions and possibly reimbursement for the costs I was subjected to due to the issue. I can provide the service receipts from the dealership showing that it was replaced and the total cost. Thank you!.

My vehicle has multiple active safety recalls that remain unrepaired. I have already contacted the dealership and attempted to have these issues addressed, but I have experienced delays and a lack of response. The front brake hose recall presents a serious safety risk, as it could rupture and cause a brake fluid leak, leading to reduced braking ability and increased stopping distance. Additionally, the rear view camera recall affects visibility when reversing, as the camera may display a blank or distorted image. I have already filed a complaint with NHTSA regarding these unresolved recalls. One of the recalls currently does not have a remedy available, and the other has not been completed despite my efforts to schedule repairs. These unresolved safety issues put me and others at risk, and I am concerned about the lack of timely action to correct them.
I experienced a complete loss of power steering on my 2011 Ford Fusion. Luckily I managed to avoid an accident and had the vehicle towed to my mechanic. When he told me what caused the issue, I looked up all recalls on this vehicle using my VIN for the 2011 Ford Fusion on both Ford's website and the NHTSA. Gov website. There was a recall in 2015 for loss of electric power steering assist NHTSA id number: 15v340000. Ford's number for this recall is 15s18. I called Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and they told me that this recall was no longer open. I bought this vehicle in 2020 and was not made aware of this recall at all, otherwise I would have gotten it fixed like I did for the airbag recalls. This was something that happened with no warning. The Ford customer service is refusing to acknowledge this recall or assist me on this.
The power steering assist fault notice keeps popping up on the dashboard screen. When this happens, the power steering is inoperable leaving me stranded. I've had my mechanic fix it several times (after the Ford recall on steering didn't properly repair the issue) costing an insane price. It's very unsafe to be on the road & have the power steering go out. It is unsafe not only for me & my family but also for the vehicles traveling around my vehicle. It causes mental distress & anxiety as I never know when I'm going to be left stranded. This time, I'm stranded at the laundromat, on a Sunday. Not knowing how I'm going to get home or to work tomorrow. My receipts for repairs are at home. Until Ford makes this right, I'll never see the Ford brand as a reliable manufacturer nor will I ever purchase or recommend the Ford brand.

The rear backup camera screen is black or flickers, and sometimes shows an error message like "camera not available. " Ford just issued another recall for rear cameras for this issue, but deliberately excluded Ford Fusion vehicles. They need to include ASAP as this is a known, dangerous issue that can cause an accident.

Rear view camera.
I get in my 2016 Fusion to go to dinner and I can barely turn my steering wheel. I put it in park and check the power steering fluid. Full. I tried resetting the power steering assist by starting the car and turning all the way left then right then center. Still can barely turn. Tried disconnecting the battery hoping it would be an electrical glitch. Come to find out it’s could be a steering assist motor on the steering column that’s going bad and can cause this problem while driving! that’s insane!.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v440000 (electrical system), and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the interim repair was performed because the final remedy was not yet available. However, upon following up with the dealer, the dealer informed the contact that the recall was marked as completed. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle recall history confirmed that the dealer had only performed the recall interim repair. The contact filed a complaint against the dealer with the manufacturer. The manufacturer informed the contact that the dealer would be contacted to correct the issue. The contact was awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Rear camera all of a sudden stops working and says "rear camera not available", creating unsafe conditions when backing up. Common issue on Ford Fusions, for which there's a recall recently announced for the 2016 model year but not for 2017, even though same signs and symptoms and vehicle otherwise. Could you please investigate.
I keep getting shift sys fault error. My car will not move out of p (park). I towed my car to repair shop on 2/11/2026 - 02/13/2026 the mechanic told me he replaced the bushing kit and the gear dial. Less than a week later on 02/26/2026 I got the same error and was able to drive my car to village Ford dealership (my car is still there) I was told on Monday that the technicians thought they fixed the issue but the same thing happen and now they are unable to get the car out of p (park) and that the technicians would have contact Ford hotline because the repairs are not working. The issue was once recalled on older Ford Fusions but according to google 2020 Fusions have reported the same issue.

Engine catastrophicly over revs when charging and plugged in phev plug.
My 2014 Ford Fusion caught fire on January 19, 2026, while parked and stationary inside my residential garage. The vehicle could not be shifted out of park during the incident. Emergency services responded, and an official fire department report was generated. I had owned the vehicle for less than one year and performed no mechanical, electrical, or aftermarket modifications. The vehicle had undergone parking brake service at a licensed dealer prior to delivery, with no work performed after I took possession.
I own a 2013 Ford Fusion se with a 1. 6l ecoboost engine. Prior to the incident, the vehicle displayed a “check charging system” warning and the engine overheated. After parking the vehicle and shutting it off, a fire started under the hood in the engine compartment. The fire occurred shortly after the overheating warning and while the vehicle was not running. The fire appeared to originate in the engine bay area and caused significant damage. There were no prior accidents or modifications to the vehicle.
I don't know what failed, but my vehicle spontaneously combusted this morning in front of my apartment. And is a total loss. Fire marshal's [xxx] ) case# xx-xxx. The fire also destroyed the vehicle sittling next to it. We are lucky the building didn't catch on fire. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
As I was driving, making a right turn and with out warning my steering wheel before excessively hard to control, turn. Because of the sudden wheel tightening as I was making this right turn I almost collided with a vehicle in next lane on highway. My brakes were in good standing but I had to really step down on my brakes to gain control of the steering wheel. I put in the shop and got a multi point inspection with repairs costs of over 3000 to replace steering wheel gear bolts etc in which I can't afford at this time.
Complete loss of power steering. Service advancetrac light on hill assist not available 2016 Fusion but is not included in the recall. Car was sold to me and is registered in pennsylvania, the salt belt. Ran scanner got codes u0240 and c102d. Clear codes, immediately get power steering back. Slowly lose power steering again, until complete failure. Super unsafe, first time this happened I was on the turnpike with my son. Speed limit is 70 m. P. H. I had to go 40 with my 4 ways on. Barely had control of my car. Very scary.
My 2015 Ford Fusion back over prevention camera system, is no longer working. I only get the black screen with error message "camera is unavailable. Contact dealership". Which is creating a safety issue, while the vehicle is backing up. Reference recall number 25sa9 as many other Ford products have the same issue. Many 2015 Ford models are covered under this recall. However, my Fusion is not, because the recall only states 2016. My camera was troubleshot by a certified mechanic and was deemed a faulty camera by testing it with a different camera, and the system started working properly again.
Car warning states “steering assist fault service required” total loss of power steering in the vehicle after sat parked for a week, vehicle started without issue, no warning codes can be found with obdii scanner.
In our 2017 Ford Fusion, the back up camera sometimes says "unavailable at this time" (or something close to that) when put in reverse. It is available for inspection upon request. Safety is put at risk for multiple parties - the driver/owner, individual(s)/property behind the vehicle, insurance companies, and potentially others as the total view between mirrors and the backup camera is compromised. The vehicle has not been taken to a dealership as it is out of warranty. I see where Ford has a recall on some of these, so I checked both NHTSA and Ford websites, and it says this vehicle is ineligible for repair. However, we are experiencing this problem from time to time, most recently 2 days ago when our 16 year old was driving it. He called to let us know what the camera was doing. I believe having a safety device glitching is unnacceptable, and I would like to see Ford resolve this issue for not just my car but all of them having a known issue!.
I recently started to experience hard steering while in transit the power assist light came on and so does the advanced track warning light. I discovered there was a recall so I took it in to the Ford dealership, which was jc lewis Ford in savannah, georgia, but the technician told me that there were too many miles and after 150,000 miles, the recall was null and void.
The rear backup camera system on my 2016 Ford Fusion s has failed and no longer displays an image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The screen remains completely black and does not activate. The backup camera previously worked normally before this failure. The issue appears to be related to the backup camera or associated electrical/display system, and the component should be available for inspection upon request. This malfunction creates a safety risk because the backup camera is necessary to see obstacles, pedestrians, and other vehicles behind the car. Without a functioning backup camera, rear visibility is significantly reduced, increasing the risk of a collision, especially in parking lots and residential areas. The problem occurs every time the vehicle is placed in reverse. The issue has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or independent repair facility. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the failure. The screen began failing and now remains completely black when in reverse. The exact date the issue began is unknown.
"the incident occurred immediately after shifting the vehicle into reverse and starting to move. The engine suddenly shut down with a 'system performance' alert, and cooling fans engaged at maximum speed. Moments later, a thermal runaway event began in the high-voltage li-ion battery pack, leading to a catastrophic fire. This is directly related to recall 23v440 / 23s33 (becm failure). The fire was extinguished by the local fire department in telavi, georgia (country). ".
I am reporting a life-threatening incident involving my 2020 Ford Fusion phev. On December 5, 2025, while my wife was driving on a public street, the vehicle suffered a sudden, complete engine failure followed by smoke and fire originating from the high-voltage battery pack in the trunk. There were no prior warning signs or dashboard alerts before the incident. This vehicle was sold via iaai auction in September 2023 without disclosing the active, critical safety recall (NHTSA 23v440 / Ford 23s33) issued in June 2023. This non-disclosure placed my family in extreme danger. When the fire started, my wife was in a state of panic. I arrived at the scene before emergency services. Being a technician, I performed a high-risk manual extraction of the burning battery pack to prevent the entire vehicle and the surrounding residential area from a potential explosion. I risked electrocution and toxic chemical exposure to save lives. The damaged battery pack is currently preserved and available for professional inspection upon request. As a result of the fire and exposure to extinguisher chemicals, I suffered respiratory distress and asthma-like symptoms for several days. I have contacted Ford motor company through official channels and documented all interactions. Ford representatives stated that they 'only assist customers in the united states' and local representatives in [xxx] have officially refused to provide the remedy, stating they are not authorized or equipped for this specific recall. I am now left with a charred, unusable vehicle. I demand a full investigation into the failure of the recall remedy process and manufacturer liability for these life-threatening damages. ( form fields about my location are place holders. Contact me in [xxx] (country) at [xxx] / [xxx] ]. I hope you do don't ignore our lives due to geography. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Rear camera continuously malfunctions with grainy/dark image, just completely failed with message on screen “rear camera not available”. This puts myself and the people and vehicles around me at risk of collision when parking or reversing out of a parking space. This problem is common among many Ford Fusion owners.
Backup camera does not work dealership has done absolutely nothing regarding this matter it’s been almost 8 months.
Unintended acceleration event. Entered vehicle, put my foot on the brake, cranked it, held in that position while seatbelting. Engine had a very loud revving sound. Within seconds vehicle moving backwards on its own. Foot still on the brake, had not touched gas pedal, had not touched gear shifter, and was still sitting straight forward with my foot on the brake and confirmed gear shifter in park. The car quickly accelerated backwards faster and brake pedal had no effect on stopping or slowing vehicle. Went approx. 30’ across parking lot and only stopped because we hit truck parked behind us. Quickly turned off engine and removed keys. Shifter still shows park. Careful driver. No history of accidents. I found there were several thousand reported events of unintended acceleration (Ford vehicles 2002 to 2010). Ford tried to explain many as driver error or floor mat touching the gas pedal. My mat was clipped down, as designed, with no all-weather mat on top of them, and my foot did not leave the brake pedal. Ai says revving as described is "classic behavior of failing electronic throttle body on 2010 Fords", "surging without touching the pedal and known defect are extremely common". Says if "worn or failing shifter linkage/bushings vibration form high revving could make it slip into reverse". Ford has a 19s54 recall for antilock brake systems (not notified), where "a normally closed valve may be stuck open, which may result in extended brake pedal travel". Ford reports on similar vehicles "lunging" was due to deposits in the throttle body. Ford has installed brake override on vehicles after 2010 but that doesn't protect people driving older vehicles. Please look at combo of factors that could cause this. Disappointed to read Ford purged customer acceleration reports prior to hold 5 yrs and an expert they provided at trial was someone sheltered from all research Ford had on this issue so he pushed "driver error" as the case. Clearly not here.
