Failure Date: 05/22/2020

The sunroof leaks into the inside of the car saturating the headliner and the water is coming through and dripping directly on the shifter, eco button, and the traction control button. I am afraid it's going to mess with the wiring throughout the whole car.

5 Wiring problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/16/2019

The climate control system shuts off and stays off for long periods of time, meaning there is no functioning air conditioning in vehicle. It's been off for almost a week now for me. It's off when it's stationary or in motion. The problem isn't with the air conditioner itself as it'll sometime come on and remain on for a long duration. The volume knob also becomes inoperable. Some drivers of this vehicle weren't able to operate their windows as well when the climate system shut off so I believe it's faulty wiring somewhere. We already know why this is dangerous. We can die of heat exhaustion especially since I'm experiencing 100 degree weather right now. Secondly, when it rains, the interior fogs up making it nearly impossible to drive. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealership for this very issue and the problem has not been fixed. Here is a video on youtube showing what this looks like. . Read more...

7 Wiring problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/16/2018

While attempting to charge the parked vehicle in my garage, I plugged in the 110-volt charger that came with the car into the wall before plugging it into the vehicle. It sparked and nearly caused a fire. Upon inspection, it was clear the plug was overheating over time and caused a short in the wiring adjacent to the plug. The oem of the unit was made by clipper creek. I reported this issue to clipper creek as well.

8 Wiring problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 03/03/2018

The wiring to the digital screen has shorted out somehow now I have to go spend a lot of money on a 3 year old car with 72,000 miles on it.

9 Wiring problem of the 2009 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

Herky jerky acceleration. Dealership said it was a sensor. 6 months later, same problem. Dealership said a small oil leak burned through some wires. Stated some sort of issue with a wiring harness. Stated wiring harness needed replaced, but was virtually impossible to locate. Brakes constantly need repairs/replacements. Multiple times per year.

10 Wiring problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

I was driving on a busy city street during rush hour when I noticed the car jerking when it changed gears. The rpm would shoot up high then back down while losing power to the vehicle. I managed to get to an auto advance store where I had a diagnostic done since my check engine light was on. The diagnostic came back with code po455 twice and po457 twice. It was then explained that too much air was getting into my fuel system. I proceeded to go to the Ford dealership, which was a half mile away. On the way, my car continued to jerk and loose power and some points. Then everything digital which one displays my mileage and the other displays how many mile till empty displayed intermittent lines and the wrench illuminated on my dashboard. At this time my car was on but quickly lost power to go forward. It almost got rear ended by the car behind me. I put on my turn signal and I coasted to the side of the road, turn off my car waited a few minutes the turned back on and put it in drive. The car would not move forward. The engine just revved up like I had it in neutral. I put it back in park then put it in reverse. The car would operate in reverse. Had to have car towed to dealership. Three months prior to this incident, I had to take my car to the dealership because of excessive battery acid on my positive terminal that had eaten through the wiring harness. Had to have harness and battery replaced. I still notice issues of battery acid accumulating around the screws on the battery harness and positive lead again.

11 Wiring problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/19/2017

Vehicle was parked (out of town weekend) when starting up to go home it totally shut down, light came stating something about coolant temperature and I had no power what so ever. Got towed to Ford, only had vehicle since Feb. 2017, saudered and reconnected some wiring that they said was chewed by some critter, I. E. Mouse. $360. Later. After doing my own research I see wiring is being being covered in some soy coating and seats are made with other products that can lure critters. I don't understand and feel why should I pay that out of pocket.

12 Wiring problem of the 2017 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/07/2016

My car, with 2k miles, would not start (push button start, this is the plug-in hybrid "energi" model). After being towed to a dealer, they had to tear the car apart to find a bad wiring harness as part of the hybrid system. This part was unavailable, and I am having to wait over 5 days to have the car repaired. In addition, the manufacturer has not provided any alternate transportation and instead tried to get me to buy an extended warranty. Horrible customer support from Ford. This is a safety fix, and the car itself just wouldn't run. To not take care of the customer or have the ability to quickly get a part is unacceptable. Wiring harnesses should not fail in 5 weeks and 2k miles. The car drove one mile, then would not restart. It only complained to "get off the road soon". A failure of what should be a very basic part at 2k miles is concerning, not to mention the inability of Ford to repair it in quick fashion. This does make me wonder if the problem is more widespread and so parts are hard to come by.

13 Wiring problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/26/2016

When I turned on the fan to circulate heat or cool air nothing happened. The blower motor for the ac and heating has failed 3 times in the last 4 years; 12/13/2013, 6/24/2015, and 5/26/2016. The last time the Ford dealer had to replace the entire wiring harness as well. The last repair cost $730. Angela keevis, Ford motor company customer service manager, told me there was nothing they could do for me since I had already paid for the repair. My son needed the car for his high school senior prom so I needed to pay the bill ASAP.

14 Wiring problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/17/2016

Purchased a 2012 Fusion sel with 35xxx miles in feb16. During the summer of 2016, the a/c blower began to function intermittently manipulation of the wire harness supplying power to the resistor would cause the blower to turn on/off. The blower only ran at one speed (I. E. The resistor was bad). The blower and resistor were replaced. The issue is once again occurring at ~80,000 miles. This is a well-documented complaint (blower pull too much current and fries the resistor) with this vehicle and, oftentimes, Ford dealers are only replacing/repairing the blower and resistor. However, in my experience (and likely many others), the wire harness also needed to be replaced to correct the issue as continuity through the wiring is also affected when this issue first occurs. This is an obvious manufacturing defect that Ford is not addressing. Furthermore, their dealerships/service center personnel are not adequately educated on how to permanently correct this issue (this is evident by the number of complaints that reference the issue recurring after only the blower motor and resistor are replaced). They are charging Fusion owners $500+ to put a temporary band aid on an electrical issue that should be well understood by now.

15 Wiring problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring underneath the seat was fractured and caused the air bag system to deactivate. The wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v875000 (seat belts). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

16 Wiring problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 03/29/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that squirrels ate through the main wiring harness attached to the battery. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 21,900.

17 Wiring problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/15/2016

The air bag light on the dash came on. I took it into the Ford dealership and they claimed that the wiring harness under the seat was crushed , supposedly by an empty jelly jar that was under neath the seat on the drivers side. I have the jelly jar and its not even broken . Ford claims its my fault and to get in touch withmy insurance company which I have but since the light (airbag ) light has come on, my seat doesn't work does not move back or forward and the light that tells if if the seat belt is fastened doesn't work. I haven't heard back from my insurance company but im wondering if more Fusion owners than just me have had this problem with the wiring harness and if the problem is due to the location of the wiring harness rather than the jelly jar which is unbroken. I am a 72 year old woman and although im slightly overweight , I cannot imagine how my weight and the jelly jar could disable the whole case. It doesn't look crushed but I'm taking it to my mechanic tomorrow and having him take the seat out and look at the wiring harness. The vehicle was stationary when the light came on about a week ago.

18 Wiring problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/02/2015

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. During weather changes, the electronic vent function failed to work each year. The dealer was not notified. An independent mechanic replaced the pig wiring, resistor, and blower motor four times, but the failure continued. The windshield failed to defrost, the vent controls failed to function for the heat, and the contact had a loss of visibility and electronic function to warm the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

19 Wiring problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/01/2015

While driving my Fusion on 11/1/15, both front turn signals stopped working when attempting to make a turn onto an interstate. The dash indicated a warning that the left and right front turn signal lamp was not working when the signal was activated by the switch. I assumed a bulb had burnt out. However, once my car was turned completely off, the left front bulb remained on, despite no one being in the car. The light remained on for multiple hours before I became aware of it once I returned to my vehicle. During this time, it was draining the battery. I the. Had to drive my car on city streets and the interstate to get home. I tried purchasing new bulbs, but found that both bulbs currently in the car worked fine. No wiring was loose or frayed. Later that week, I brought it to a mechanic who diagnosed it as a failed Smart junction box that has led to the turn signal not working. I contacted my local dealership in accordance with my mechanic's suggestion. I was informed there is no recall on this part. How is there no recall when this is clearly a safety issue? malfunctioning turn signals while driving with no direct cause is a problem. Especially when it leads to a light remaining on leading to killing the car battery. According to the dealership, the only solution is purchasing a new junction box from them (no local parts stores can even find one in their inventory) and have it installed and programmed by them.

20 Wiring problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/08/2015

The connector to the air control relay overheats. Would smell an electrical burning scent. Checked online found pictures of melted wiring under dash. Took pictures of that area under dash and found the same thing. The connector to the air control relay is melted. The blower fan has quit working. Ford dealerships want 500. 00 plus to fix this. I would call this a safety defect. It only seems to happen to cars equipped with the duel control auto climate. This incident did not cause a fuse to trip and could lead to a fire in the dash. It not uncommon because it was quickly and easily found on youtube. Ford was aware of the problem, but denied is was anything other than a maintenance issue.

21 Wiring problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/23/2015

The vehicle is a hybrid plus. It has a charge port. The vehicle will not accept a charge and check engine light is on. The entire wiring harness from front to back has to be replaced. This job requires complete removal of the entire interior. Also Ford has not been in contact with the dealer or myself in 5 days regarding this issue. This is the 3rd time it had been in the shop - first for a faulty dash and second for a bad ac compressor. - vehicle has 1600 miles on it.

22 Wiring problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The vehicles wiring is heating up and I'm concerned it may start a fire, also the car occasionally turns off by itself, I would like to to know if there is a recall on my vehicle, please reach out to me as soon as possible.

23 Wiring problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

After parking my car outside my house, I opened my door and the handle short circuited and exploded blowing out a piece of the door handle off exposing the the handles springs and wiring.

24 Wiring problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/02/2015

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. After parking the vehicle, it caught on fire without warning. The contact noticed flames and smoke after the door was opened. The seat was burned. The fire extinguished on its own. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fire was due to an outside source; however, the police report and insurance company diagnosed that the failure was caused by faulty wiring. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. A police report was filed. The failure mileage was 141,000.

25 Wiring problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

The hvac blower relay or controller overheated and began smoking melting the housing for the wiring.

26 Wiring problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/23/2011

Pulled into parking slot of townhouse complex. Before I could shift into "p" the engine raced and surged forward into a building. I was stunned. $4600 damage to my car. $7000 damage to building. I told the service manager at dean sellers-troy where I bought the car that something was wrong every time I took it in for an oil change. He said everything was ok. When this accident happened I had it towed to crest Ford in centerline, mi. They insisted it was not a mechanical failure. Approx. 2 months later the service manager, jim clark, called me and said they found the problem. The wiring harness to the airflow was misfiring. (dean sellers replaced one just a few months earlier). Mr. Clark told me to bring it in and they would replace it at no charge. In the meantime my insurance company paid over $11000. My insurance rates are sky high and I have absolutely no confidence in the safety of this car. I'm nearing 72 years old and it took me 3 weeks to write this complaint because I relive the whole ordeal all over again. I drew money out of my retirement account to pay cash for this car thinking I would never have to worry about car problems again. Now I'm stuck with a car I'm afraid to drive.

27 Wiring problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/02/2011

This happened sometime back, however it could be related to your current investigations. When I had approx 1900 miles on the car and while I was going around 70 mph, the car went into limp mode and I lost all throttle control. After nearly getting hit from behind from a truck (cause I lost speed), I managed to pull over to safety and saw I had no throttle response. I turned off the car, and then turned it back on to find it out it wouldn't start. So I turned it off once again, waited 20 or so seconds, and turned the car back on and proceeded to work. Later on that night, I pulled the codes off the system and kept them as pictures (p2104 and p2112) just in case the codes cleared (cold cycle). Sure enough I go to the dealer the next day, no codes found and there is nothing they (Ford) can do. I showed them the pictures, however I was still turned away. Later on at around 7500 miles, this happened again and this time I was close enough to the dealer to run the codes. They performed TSB 11-4-23 on the engine throttle body and ecu, and installed a new wiring harness. Little did I know at the time, but this states that under rare conditions the engine will emit those codes while the wipers are on.

28 Wiring problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/15/2009

Our 2010 Ford Fusion is starting to split to split at the seams literally. On the passenger front door on the armrest where the window switch is, the panel is starting to separate & come apart. The top of the panel bulges upwards as if something in the door is pushing it up. My concern is especially here in NJ with the recent snow & rain, moisture & dust could come in through the crack & either short out or disable the electrical wiring in the door (speakers, window, etc). The failure stared at 2000 miles & the split gets bigger each day & current mileage is 5300 miles. I'm sorry but I've bought Ford for the last 15 years & this is probably the worst quality I've seen in Ford cars.
