1 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/11/2019

I purchased my Ford while it was still under the warranty. I took it to a dealer because I was losing power while driving in a certain gear at a certain rpm after the engine was running for about 30 minutes. I was told it was a wiring issue which I had the dealer fix. By this time I was close to the warranty being up. It didnt fix the issue. The vehicle loses power intermittently or stutters. I get p0352 codes. I have been dealing with it because it is intermittent but recently the wiring harness melted on an ignition coil. I have replaced the ignition coils, the pig tail, the spark plugs, changed transmission fluid, rechecked all the cables, and once the dealer reprogrammed the pcm. It has to be the transmission but because it is intermittent the dealer cant find anything wrong. I actually lost power once at low speeds after the transmission slipped and dinged a poll causing a dent in my car. Thankfully I only lost power once on the high way and no one hit me. Since I am out of warranty I am forced to find the cause and fix it myself. I do not have 4 grand for a new transmission install. My research shows that Ford has three issues with my year. 1. Ignition coils over heating due to bad pcms or programming 2. Transmission bubbles or tears forming in the rings 3. Cable controls on the transmissions. I am out of options and dont know what to do so I figure I would warn off others. Dont by a Ford with the 6f35 transmission unless it is a later year. I hear the 2019 has it fixed and I wish I could have one of those but the best I can do is warn others. I am stuck. 2 years of my life wasted.

2 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/21/2015

Driving on interstate 75 my car made a popping noise and lost power, was in limp mode, check engine light came on, had car diagnosed and found to have busted ignition coils and bad ecm, replaced those, less than a week later driving to work again and wrench light came on, it comes and goes but the check engine light is on. The car loses all power until shut off, am told it is a throttle body issue. The car has just over 73,000 miles and has been very well taken care of. I am afraid to drive any more due to the sudden loss of power on highway with no way of knowing when it is going to happen again.

3 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Pcm failed on a 2007 Ford Fusion se v6 while on the highway. This resulted in near-immediate electrical failure, stalling the car after app. 30 seconds. User forums online seem to indicate that this is a recurring problem with 2007 Fusions, possibly stemming from ecu failure (although opinions are undecided on whether a feedback issue causes the ecu to fail, or the ecu fails and causes feedback). Damage to the car included frying all six spark plugs, and significant damage to all six ignition coils which necessitated replacement, as well as necessitating replacement of pcm unit. Ford also draws a distinction between the warranty on the ecu (8 years / 80,000 miles) and the warranty on the pcm (3 years / 36,000 miles) when assessing the damage - since this failure commonly results in damage to the pcm, they almost always seem to elect to consider only the pcm warranty. Total cost to driver: app. $2,000 plus labor.

4 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/16/2014

The factory ignition coils began to short against the interior walls of the engine head above the spark plugs. As they shorted it burn the power control module (pcm). With no pcm my spark plugs failed to light, causing my engine become flooded with gasoline, which washed away the lubricants on my cylinder and heads causing all of my cylinders and heads to become damaged. As this happened before I was able to pull over my engine shut off. Causing me to lose power steering and all of the other electrical functioning components. Luckily I was on a fairly quiet road and at somewhat low speeds, but for the many others that have or could experience the same problem might not have been or be as lucky. 2006 Ford Fusion 3. 0l v6.

5 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 2008 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/14/2014

I was driving down the street and my car would not go pass 20 mph. I hadn't previous had any problems from my vehicle. The car shut off and I got it towed to the dealership. The mechanic told me that I would need a new computer and my current computer was burning out my ignition coils. It turned out to be about ~$1800 worth of work. I was told that this problem is becoming more common and that there should be a recall on the computer and igntion coils soon if it's not already in the works. Of course, the only recall I noticed for this vehicle is the floor mats. This same problem occurred approximately 2 weeks after the car was fixed.

6 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 01/26/2014

Pcm failed causing vehicle to lose power and burn up ignition coils.

7 Ignition Coils Failure problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/17/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 70 mph, the vehicle hesitated as the engine light illuminated. The vehicle then stalled and failed to restart. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was found that the main computer and ignition coil failed. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000. . . Updated 02-04-14 . .
