3 Ignition problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/17/2012

I have started having problems like everyone else is describing with my 2006 Ford Fusion. I have owned my car for 2 months. I get home from work & go to get out of the car & the key will not come out of the ignition. From reading the other complaints on here I figured out it has something to do with the shifter button. Something is breaking on/in the shifter button & it's not allowing the car to think it has been put in park, thus not allowing the key to come out of the ignition. You have to mess with the silver shifter button & if you can find it's happy spot you will be able to get the key out. I just can't believe that Ford made this car with such crappy plastic parts!! I'm starting to wish I wouldn't have bought this car. The silver is peeling off of the inside door handles also! this car is in excellent condition & has not been treated rough, so I don't know why it's starting to fall apart. Ford needs to recall these issues with the 2006 Ford Fusion's!! I will never buy another Ford vehicle after this.

4 Ignition problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 01/02/2012

On January 2nd, 2012 on 2-separate occasions the engine accelerated to almost 6000 rpm while I was stopped or nearly stopped while parking the car. The car was in drive and I had my right foot on the brake but the engine acceleration happened very quickly and on the second incident the brakes were not holding the car. I was able to get the trans into neutral untill the acceleration died down to the normal rpm. On the second occasion I shut the ignition off 2-times before the accelration stopped. I have had this problem with prior cars and the manufacturers have had no system in place to diagnose the problem and because it is a random event it is almost impossible to replicate. Because of litigation in accident cases I believe the manufacturers are in denial of this electrical problem.

5 Ignition problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/25/2011

2007 Ford Fusion--my keys are getting stuck in the ignition which to me cause a risk of someone stealing your car. The key will not release and if the warranty or extended warranty has expired, Ford will not pay to have the car repaired. This problem has been in existance with the focus & Fusion since 2003 and Ford has not issued a recall. I had to leave my car unlocked after lunch because I could not get the keys out of the ignition. I work at a place where the parking lot is large and I was on edge all afternoon praying that no one would steal my car. I called Ford customer relations and they were no help at all. It was like an "OH well". My issue is, if Ford knows of this issue with the ignition, why haven't Ford recalled these cars and fix the problem. I googled this problem and you will be amazed as to the complaints of keys getting stuck in the ignition. The Ford dealerships states that the shifter knob assembly is why mine was stuck and I also saw the same problem when I googled this issue. Please, please help me to help other consumers as myself in getting Ford to address this issue. Thanks.

6 Ignition problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

7 Ignition problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/21/2010

I purchased my vehicle on may 15, 2010. The vehicle began to stall almost 1 month later at 2100 miles. I was coming to a stop at a red light when I noticed that my vehicle had lost all power when I began to apply the brake. I took the vehicle into the dealer and they told me that they were not able to replicate the problem and no codes were showing up when diagnosed. After the first time the vehicle stalled on me I started to notice an acceleration problem prior to the vehicle stalling again. It feels like the vehicle is not shifting gears correctly when I'm pressing the gas for acceleration. The vehicle has trouble accelerating properly and I fear that I may get rear ended. When the vehicle stalls it does not give me any warning signs and just looses power. I have to turn off the ignition and turn it back on. The vehicle starts up right away like if nothing happened. Meanwhile I loose power in the middle of the freeway or on the street, fearing that I will get rear ended. The vehicle has stalled on me numerous times and each time I take it into the dealer they are not able to replicate the problem. The dealer placed a flight recorder to monitor the vehicle and they still weren't able to capture anything when the vehicle stalled, so they say. I have contact Ford corporation and have notified them of the problem but they are not working to fix the problem. They keep changing me from dealer to dealer and they have not sent out a Ford technician as promised to look at the vehicle. This is a huge safety concern that Ford is not addressing. I have put in numerous calls to Ford corporation and they have not fixed the problem to this day.

On approximately may 12, 2010 as I parked my 2007 Ford Fusion in parking lot of convenient store I was unable to remove my key from the ignition. I noticed my steering wheel would not lock. I returned home and my husband made sure the vehicle was in park and still the key would not turn all the way back so that the wheel could lock and key could be removed. He disconnected my battery post and then tried to turn the key backwards and this is the only way the key would turn back enough to lock the wheel and be removed.
