I was driving home one evening when stopped at a traffic signal,my Mustang throttle for unknown reasons the accelerator was stuck on the floor and remained wide open for approxaimately 1. 5 miiles before I wa able to stop my vehiclesa, without injuries or death to myself and the public. This happened again with this vehicle tonite with my son driving . He stated the throttle/accelerator had stuck wide openwith the accelerator on the floor. As he was unable to shut the vehicle off . This seems to be a large issue wityh Ford vehicles only to find no recalls but with one make the escape. The vehicle is a danger to public safety abroad for you never know when thids will happen. I was in rush hour traffic and am grateful by blowing the horn and the ability to think quick no one was killedb. My vehicle is being taken to the Ford dealer in the am to coorect an issue Ford motor company needs too address . After researching complaints thereare numerous complaints with no results.

I was driving on the interstate highway when the gas pedal stuck and the car continued to accelerate. I tried to stomp on the brake several times but was unsuccessful. Tried to turn the key, but couldn't get it to turn. Finally stomped repeatedly on the gas pedal until it released and stopped accelerating. There was nothing under the pedal causing it to hang. The floor mat was not in the way. I was in heavy traffic and only by the grace of god narrowly missed having an accident. Have not driven the car since I got it home.
The gas pedal stick cause bye throttle body could not stop the car. Just about hit a car when I was driving . . . . .

This is about the 20th time this has happened, went to pass a slower car and the accelerator pedal stuck and went to the floor, this has been happening at least once a week, this is a fly by wire system the issues in the pedal assembly, not the computer or anything else, no one can find a problem, but a few have said this is not the first they have heard of it, I have taken the pedal out tried to lube it and any thing else that comes to mind to free it, there is never a warning when it will happen, makes no difference if you push hard or soft. I have owned car since 9-10-14 and has happened about 20 times no help from dealer as was purchased as is no warranty, I have talked to a Ford dealer they say nothing they can do, when this happens I have to shut off the engine pull to the side of the road and play with it till it frees up and returns.
I was merging onto the I-5 freeway near a big mall with fairly heavy traffic and I "floored" it, or close to flooring it, to get up to speed to merge. I got onto I-5 and let up on the gas at about 60 mph to go with the flow, but I could hear the engine growling and the car just kept going faster. The accelerator was stuck! I stepped hard on the brake but it barely slowed the car. I then tried tapping the accelerator but the little movement just made the car go faster and did not unstick the accelerator. I was really close to a major collision, I could not go into any other lane and I was very quickly approaching the vehicle in front of me. I was just trying to figure out if I should pull the hand break or turn the car off when I thought to use my left foot to pull back on the aftermarket floor mat. I did this with my foot still on the brake and shortly thereafter the issue resolved just before hitting anyone. I was 85% sure it was the floor mat, but then when I googled the issue, I see pretty much the exact same story and in those incidents it was not the floor mat. I took the mat out at as soon as I could. When I got home I tried to see if I actually could move the aftermarket rubber mat and it did not really move. So now I am 85% sure it was the car and not the mat. Not being 100% sure of what caused the problem has me very nervous.
This is the second time this has happened. My gas pedal has gotten stick to the floor and will not let up unless I shut the car off, wait about 10 seconds then start it up again. I’m not sure if it has something to do with the throttle body getting stuck open or what. It’s pretty frightening. I’m almost scared to drive the car especially when I have the kids.

The gas pedal will be stuck accelerating, and will not stop. The mat was not even on the floor when the incidents occurred. Driving down interstate and also a back road, hit the break does not stop or disengage the vehicle; tap pedal does not disengage speeds up more and remains stuck. This is the 3rd time this has happened, and luck is the only reason an injury has not occurred.
Sept 14 2013. 1400 on us 59s I was driving in the far right lane, and a funeral precession was exiting right so we slightly decelerated and switched to the middle lane. As I accelerated to acquire the highway speed limit the gas pedal got stuck; immediately I knew there was a problem and told fiancé to call 911. I began to continuously press on the brake pedal with my entire body weight. It slowed the car to approximately 60 mph and if I tried to lift my foot from the brake pedal the car would accelerate even more. On the phone with 911 --207pm-- we were trying to stop the vehicle. I moved my car to the left lane and then to the left shoulder lane. (during this time I was continuously trying to brake and shift my car to neutral but it wouldn't budge; still braking with the brake pedal, I tried to apply the emergency brake) fiancé quickly re-dialed 911 to give our location and let them know that the car was completely out of our control and that this was an immediate emergency. The 911 operator told my fiancé that a police dispatcher would be calling her back, to which she replied we needed help immediately because we were approaching on slower traffic. Very quickly after, the left shoulder lane ended so I was forced to move the car into the farthest left lane. It soon became apparent that we would not avoid a collision, and my car hit the back of a yellow scion tc going approximately 100mph. The airbags deployed right away, making it unclear if we hit any other cars. The final impact that stopped our car was a concrete barrier on the right side of the highway. My fiancé and I immediately exited the car and stepped away while we signaled for help. Without a doubt our lives could have been taken away from us due to this event.
Driver was leaving parking lot of bank, when she states gas pedal stuck. She crossed 2 lanes of traffic and struck a building. Driver later succumbed to injuries.

I was driving down the interstate in when my accelerator started to stick and floor it, brakes were doing nothing so I threw it into neutral and eventually with much effort we came to a stop on the side of the road. When the accelerator stuck the passenger airbag also turned on the light saying it turned off. When finally stop and the car off the accelerator was stuck to the ground and it took a few tries to get the car to turn on. Very dangerous and has never done this before.

Driving my 2006 automatic transmission Mustang scs on the freeway and accelerated to pass a car when the throttle went to the floor and became stuck. I had intended to accelerate from about 65 to 70. I tried to brake and this prevented me from speeding up past 85 but did not stop the car or even slow it down. The throttle was completely stuck. This lasted for about 12 - 15 seconds and then released on its own. Floor mats were not in the way at all; the first thing I checked. Plus, I'd been driving perfectly fine up to that point and did not in any way shirt the mats around while driving. There are a lot of posts about this if you google "2006 Mustang accelerator stuck". I hope that Ford will finally be accountable.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and engaging the accelerator pedal, the pedal would become stuck. As a result, there was an increase in engine rpms. The contact mentioned that she would have to kick at the pedal or engage the brakes in order to release the accelerator from being stuck. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.

Gas pedal stuck had to slam brakes it got unstuck luckily.
I was involved in a crash after my accelerator got stuck on a 2007 Ford Mustang v6. I had just left my house when I slowly accelerated and all of the sudden the pedal got stuck and was unable to stop until I crashed into a neighbor's rock wall. Although the impact was hard I suffered minor injuries from the air bag, other than that I am lucky to have survived. I was the scariest thing I have ever experienced.
I hope Ford jumps on this before someone gets hurt. 2007 Ford Mustang. 03/18/2010 driving down highway accelerator sticks, hit brake does not stop or disengage; tap pedal does not disengage speeds up more still stuck, kill ignition car still in drive, slip transmission to neutral and brought car to full stop. Pedal still stuck until car put in gear. Still scared to drive car to Ford house. If you have experienced this with other Ford vehicles please post, we need to bring this to Ford corporate attention quick.
Gas pedal was stuck on highway and it took a couple miles to stop. Had car towed back to dealership.
My daughter's 2006 Ford Mustang accelerator stuck this afternoon and almost caused her to hit a vehicle in front of her. While starting to pass another vehicle on a two lane highway she noticed oncoming traffic and was attempting to end the passing maneuver when the engine accelerator "stuck" wide open. The pedal itself had complete freedom of movement and no matter what she tried to do to get it "unstuck" the accelerator remained at full throttle. Full brakes were unable to slow the cars speed. The throttle finally released after about 10-15 seconds of full acceleration and she was able to stop the car before hitting any other vehicle on the highway. I have call a local Ford dealership, nevada Ford at (417)667-3385 or (800)999-3368 and asked the service manager about any safety recalls or information on this type of problem. He told me that he had not heard of any complaints on this issue from Ford. I just did a quick search on line and found several complaints about sticking accelerators on Ford Mustangs. She bought this car used from miler-quinn in harrisionville missouri about February or March of this year and has not had any problems with it until this. Now I believe there may have been an issue with the original owner due to the low price my daughter was able to purchase the car for, $10,500. It booked for $14,500 at the time of purchase from a dealership. Please contact either myself or my daughter on this issue.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang gt. While proceeding from a stop light the accelerator pedal became stuck. The vehicle then accelerated over 100 mph. He had to reach down to separate the accelerator pedal from the floor-board. He was able to drive the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. The technician stated that it would cost $800. 00 to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified, but because the warranty was expired, he was not provided with any assistance. A mechanic speculated that the throttle body became jammed. No repairs were made. The current and failure mileages were approximately 46,000. The vehicle identification number was unavailable.
While driving this 2007 Ford Mustang on 2/13/2010, the accelerator pedal stuck at full throttle. Stayed stuck for 3-5 seconds. Car was going in excess of 80mph. Before it released. I am a very experienced driver, and feel that this could of been a very bad situation if someone less experienced was driving.
Windshield wiper motor failure. First occurrence was sept 20 2007 was told the wiring had some corrosion on it and was replaced. March 27 2008 I experienced a stuck accelerator (another complaint filed) while getting on the freeway and car was towed to dealer, no wipers or radio after the accelerator problem. Dealer calls to say that the wiring had corrosion on it again. Ive had 3 batteries in it due to a leaking windshield that leaked onto the fuse box and was shorting everything out. Rear defroster repaired in April 2007 its not working properly again only clears part of the window. The car was bought new in 2005 and has 6,485 miles on it. The dealer gets to see the car almost everytime I drive it. This is getting ridiculous.
While getting on the freeway, the accelerator got stuck, tapped on the gas pedal several times to try and release it . . Still accelerating. Rpm's was buried in the red zone the whole time and you could smell something burning. Tried pressing on the brakes, brake pedal goes to the floor with no results. I was able to get off to the berm on the freeway, shut the car off and coast to a stop. The car was towed to the dealer who claims they could not find any error codes during diagnostics but could recreate the problem. They said it my floor mats had gotten up under there. Not buying it the 2004 Mustangs had the same problem.
On December 30, 2005, my daughter (age 17) was preparing to stop for a red light, as she hit the brakes, she stated: "the car accelerated (full throttle), and would not stop. She called us by phone (crying) and reported the incident. We asked if she was ok and whether she could drive the car. She said yes. She drove the car back home (approximately 3 miles) where we (father and mother) questioned her about the incident. She stated: "she was driving about 50 mph and when she applied the brakes the car accelerated. I was unable to stop and went through a red light". At this point, my wife and I believed she somehow hit both the brake and accelerator pedals simultaneously. She stated emphatically, this was not the case and she would never drive the vehicle again. On Monday January 2nd, at approximately 3:00 pm, I was driving the subject vehicle when the accelerator stuck full throttle. I pressed the brakes as hard as I could but the car continued to accelerate until I turned the ignition to the off position. I was in the center lane of the highway. I restarted the car (for fear of being run over by on-coming traffic, raining, decreased visibility), placed my foot on the brake, placed the car in gear to gather momentum, turned off the ignition, and rolled into a parking lot. The throttle remained open. I contacted Ford who picked up the vehicle. Team Ford could not find anything wrong with the vehicle and wanted to return the car. I refused to accept the car for the following reasons: - car failed in full-throttle position (fail-safe position should have been no-throttle) - error codes did not identify this condition - (Ford had not included this in their failure modes analysis) - replacement parts may have the same problem - - needed assurances from Ford in writing that the root cause to this problem had been identified and corrected. Ford corporate is sending an engineer to inspect the vehicle.
Gas pedal stuck to floor causing crash and car being totaled.

When accelerating at full throttle accelerator pedal gets stuck. This can be a big problem since severe engine damage due to excessive engine rpm's can occur and can cause collision due to car accelerating uncontrollably. The only way to control this was shutting off the ignition but that in itself can be a danger since shutting off the ignition causes loss of power steering and hydraulic brakes which can make the vehicle extremely difficult to steer and brake, potentially causing an accident.
I have read about this issue from other 2003/2004 cobra owners and did not think it was a problem for me after inspecting my car. However, on July 30, 2005 I experienced an issue where the accelerator was stuck on the floor at full throttle. This happened on a city street and could have caused a serious issue if I did not have a large open space to pull off. I was forced to kill the ignition and stop the car. As I am sure you know when doing this you lose all power steering and braking so it is not a safe or easy task to bring the vehicle to a stop. In order to resolve the issue it required me reaching down and yanking up on the pedal with considerable force to remove it from the carpet where it was embedded. While most issues with cars can be over looked this is possibly a very bad accident waiting to happen.
The consumer stated that the accelerator stuck on 2003, Ford Mustang. Consumer was parked in a parking lot when he put the car into reverse and backed up. The motor started racing , and the accelerator stuck while the driver was backing, and he crashed into a moving car. The police came and wrote the consumer a ticket for improper backing, but did not write a police report on the accident. The owner had no prior problems with the vehicle, but the owner has only owned the car since April 10. . Consumer was still driving the car. The owner has not had the car checked for any malfunction. Consumer has not talked to the dealership, or the manufacturer. Also, here was no insurance report on the accident. The owner was traveling at a 10 mph when the accident happened. Owner planned to have the car looked at today for cosmetic damages, and the accelerator checked. There were no injuries to report.
Dt: the accelerator became stuck on the consumers 2004 Mustang svt cobra while driving at a low speed. When the consumer applied the brakes and tried placing the vehicle in neutral, the throttle was wide open and the engine revved up. The consumer simply turned off the engine and pulled over. The consumer had to manually lift the accelerator pedal after stopping the vehicle. The consumer did not take the vehicle to the dealer, he is waiting to see what Ford is going to do about this. The has contacted the Ford manufacturer who said the consumer needed to make appointment with the dealership but denied there was even an issue.
Driving on city streets, my accelerator has become stuck in the carpeting twice causing temporary inability to control speed. I tried to glue the carpet down myself, but there was not enough "give" in it to correct the problem.
I was heading west on coliseum blvd and went to accelerate to pass a slow moving vehicle when my accelerator pedal got stuck on the carpeting!!! the engine was bouncing off the rev limiter before I even realized what was going on. This car should have never been released to the public like this since there is obviously a defect with the carpeting since all of my friends with 03 cobra's have all had the same incident occur. Something needs to be done to address this problem because it's going to get people killed.
2004 Mustang - accelerator pedal stuck at full throttle multiple times. Appears to be caused by pedal component sticking underneath carpet.
2004 Mustang - I had just purchased my Mustang the accelerator pedal stuck causing inability to control my speed on the highway, resulting in a ticket . The next time the accelerator pedal stuck was on city streets . Took car to Ford dealership for inspection.
I was driving my 2004 svt cobra, I was in a 55mph zone and went to pass a guy. My accelerator got stuck on the carpet and would not come up, I was forced to shut the car down and pull off to the side to figure out what was wrong. This has happened on 3-4 occasions while I revved my engine also, I have since cut the carpet all around the gas pedal so it will no longer stick. Mike zilinski.
I have a 2004 Ford Mustang cobra. I have had the accelerator pedal become stuck under the carpet on more than one occasion. One of the events happened while I was on a dyno-jet testing horsepower, and it was captured on video. The other even happened while driving, and I was nearly killed. I just happened to think fast and switch the key off. I have fixed this by cutting away a section of carpet under the pedal. I am not happy with this solution because this is a limited production car, and cutting carpet is not a thing that I wanted to do. But I was afraid that if I did not do this I would be injured or killed the next time it happened.
While pulling into a garage, the accelerator pedal became stuck, and the vehicle accelerated through the garage wall into the kitchen. The consumers daughter had to shift the vehicle into park to stop it. The consumers wife sustained injuries, and was transported to a local hospital. Dealer and manufacturer were notified.
